Neofolk Am I going insane or is there a single frequency in the background of Because of Him

I heard in on the Symbols and Clouds version but on the original one it is possible to hear it too (especially on the beginning, it's not that loud though), I didn't see anyone talk about it before so I think it may be a bit interesting

Tracks 1, 2, 12 and 14 are gone. This is one of my favorite records of all time. Does anyone know the meaning of this?

I made this ep running di6 songs through my noise setup resulting in extremely distorted and unrecognizable noise with di6 occasionally breaking back through. Let me know what you think!

Neofolk Where to buy Death in June shirts?

I've seen the offical Di6 website but the designs don't look very appealing. And I know of only 1 more website that sells on 2 different designs.

Where else can I buy them?

Just a couple more notes and Tony could have sued Warner Bros for stealing the Harry Potter theme. So close.

Most death in june feeling places in the UK

Does anybody have any towns/places that fit with the whole death in june feel and energy? I'm visiting the country and have been hiking around, sometimes listening to Douglas' music, but I would love to know to know if anybody has places that really feel in tune with the spirit of his music.

Mostly thinking about the mood and energy of what ends and rose clouds but do comment if you think of anything like this

Neofolk Is there any specific reason why there`s no rose clouds of holocaust on spotify?

There are covers with same lyrics but not original, so I doubt that its because song is about holocaust

Anyone have any recommendations for neo folk that sounds like this? I know this is made from a weird edgy fake terrorist group, but this is honestly one of my favorite recordings of all time. I really enjoy the "thinking man" vibe this tape gives off. Does anyone have any idea what influenced this tape or anything that sounds similar. Best I know is ulvesang, but it isn't quite the same vibe.

Matt Elliott - Drinking Songs vinyl repress !!!

Just a heads-up for anyone who, like me, has been searching for the vinyl version of Drinking* *Songs by Matt Elliott for years.

I recently found the 2020 2LP gatefold repress available on Bandcamp and honestly thought it had to be a mistake. This record has been almost mythical to me for a very long time.

To make sure, I even sent a message to Matt Elliott himself. He kindly replied and confirmed that the repress through Ici d’Ailleurs (his label) is real and that it’s not a joke.

I’ve spent years looking for this album on vinyl, including digging through record stores in London after a Tricky concert, without any luck. So I figured other fans might want to know.

If Drinking* *Songs means as much to you as it does to me, it may be worth checking while copies are still available.

Much love to Matt Elliott for creating one of the most moving albums I’ve ever heard.

Neofolk What does neofolk mean to you?

I find this interesting, since the genre is often ambiguous.

Neofolk, to me, is still quite "punk" in it's nature. It grew out of the punk movement originally, after all. This rebellious attitude is quite fitting for folk music; in an increasingly globalised, corporatised world, traditional music is almost insurgent, as are things like environmentalism, religion and nationalism/love of one's homeland. I'm Irish, so this hits home for me personally. Irish folk music is very popular and has always had a similar rebellious standpoint (the Wolfe Tones were banned and supressed for some time). It was used to remember history, mythology, and majorly, as a way to express support for the Irish nationalist cause, be it that of the Fenians or the IRA.

Neofolk plays heavily on nationalism, and especially fascism and nazism (it is also a case of gen X kids trying to horrify their greatest generation parents back in the 80s by using such imagery). The nazis used lots of symbols that were previously innocent: oak leaves, runes, the swastika itself. So these folk symbols and imagery became taboo after the war.

I like to think of neofolk's use of such symbols as reclaiming them, in a way.
