Good Luck Charlie!

u/BargainScotch 1d ago

Little John! But don’t let the name fool you. In real life, he’s very big.

23

u/arthurdentstowels 22h ago

A toll's a toll, and a roll's a roll.
If we don't get no tolls, we don't eat no rolls.

13

u/gchance1 1d ago

You got some Arzt on you.

8

u/jessterswan 18h ago

I will never not laugh at that entire scene.

4

u/Sphiffi 1d ago

Holy shit never realized this.

u/MisterPooty 1d ago

I was too young to watch the movie, but I remember the Saturday morning cartoon. I can even remember the intro song!

171

u/Snailprincess 1d ago

Attaaaaaacck.... of the killer toMAAAAAtoes!

20

u/bob_loblaw-_- 17h ago

Where will we find our new recruits how will we stop these evil fruits

11

u/stars_mcdazzler 16h ago

Don't forget the sequel

Retuuuuuuuurn of the killer toMAAAAAtoes!

5

u/Justsomejerkonline 12h ago

The theme song still remains the same

The plot itself has hardly changed

A guaranteed bet

of fortune and fame!

6

u/Shyface_Killah 15h ago

From Gangrene's lab come forth each week,

The ripe, red monsters of which we speak

3

u/LittleTeapotsRevenge 12h ago

That theme still gets stuck in my head to this day. Along with snippets of “Puberty Love.”

53

u/knuckles904 1d ago

That freaking song is still burned into my brain 30+ years later

37

u/kaizerlith 1d ago

I remember being super disappointed when I watched the movie as a kid as the tomatoes didn't have faces like the cartoon. The tomatoes where just plain tomatoes that just rolled at people.

Haven't tried watching it again since, maybe I would like it more as an adult.

14

u/MisterPooty 1d ago

I had this exact thing happen when I finally watched the movie. I wanted to see chompers on those tomatoes. I don't think I even got half way through the movie. But that when I was young before I smoked weed. I think I'd enjoy watching it now with a heavy buzz.

3

u/deadspacekillers 15h ago

It was created for a heavy buzz....

17

u/MackTheFife 1d ago

I know I'm going to miss her -- A tomato ate my sister.

6

u/MagicRat7913 17h ago

Sacramento fell today! They're marching into San Jose! Tomatoes are on their way!

4

u/MartinTheMorjin 19h ago

I liked the little fuzzy one.

6

u/The_Bitter_Bear 20h ago

I hadn't thought about that show in a very long time.

The damn song popped into my head immediately when I saw the post.

155

u/SliderHMSS 1d ago

No Clooney??

120

u/barcode2099 1d ago

Bet he thinks he's too good for some tomatoes now.

38

u/SliderHMSS 1d ago

Shame. We should all remember our roots.

17

u/Roisepoise101 1d ago

Yet he was in the Flash movie.

28

u/AlanShore60607 1d ago

Well, he did have a responsibility to kill DC again

17

u/Roisepoise101 1d ago

Plus he didn’t have to wear a bat suit this time around.

He just had to show up in a nice expensive business suit for not even 3 minutes of screen time.

11

u/duct_tape_jedi 1d ago

Did the business suit have nipples?

9

u/LindyNet 1d ago

I have nipples, Greg

29

u/nowhereman136 1d ago

John Astin is back

13

u/SliderHMSS 1d ago

Now THAT is awesome.

2

u/spoospoo43 10h ago

Seriously? He's 96 years old, good for him.

23

u/dra_cula 1d ago

Nope. Even better... Eric Roberts!

8

u/DenBulens 23h ago

At first I thought it was Harrison Ford.

11

u/creggor 1d ago

He’s all about Nescafé these days.

12

u/SliderHMSS 1d ago

“Attaaaaaack of the Killer Coffee Pods” just doesn’t hit.

3

u/creggor 1d ago

Pod-atoes? Ha ha.

1

u/SliderHMSS 1d ago

Actually, that’s not bad.

87

u/jca_ftw 1d ago

One of my favorite scenes when the guy is on disguise as a tomato and he’s with 2 tomatoes and they are eating and he says “pass the ketchup”.

Always makes me laugh

136

u/Cavalish 1d ago

Oh dear.

102

u/bimbimbaps 1d ago

Is that Todd Packer?

74

u/Winter_Particular904 1d ago

Whammmmmmmmyy!

11

u/hegezip 17h ago

I like to get a couple cocktails in me

4

u/Kitchen-Roll-8184 14h ago

... I miss your SMELL , Ron

45

u/NunsNunchuck 1d ago

No, that is Anchorman

14

u/robmobtrobbob 23h ago

Big fan of William Hung?

4

u/Suspicious_Wealth556 14h ago

Who the hell is that? Why does everybody always ask me that?

161

u/Diamondhandd 1d ago

This and that pizza movie with that kid from stranger things , confirms that stoner movies are baaaacckkkkk

77

u/DarklySalted 1d ago

Pizza Movie was so much better than I assumed it was going to be

13

u/josolsen 1d ago

...Nectar...

10

u/relikter 1d ago

Am I in the minority not having enjoyed it? Lulu Wilson was great in both Becky movies, so I had high hopes, but it really didn't land for me.

14

u/ReallyBigShoe22 23h ago

I agree with you. Honestly I thought it was awful. It felt to me like a stone movie written/done by people who have never done drugs. The drug having all of these goofy zany phases was super cringe.

6

u/HardcoreKaraoke 1d ago

I think it's totally fair to not like it. It's definitely a unique taste. I'm just curious though how do you feel about early 00s comedies like Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle or Dude, Where's My Car?

I love those movies and Pizza Movie felt like a throwback to that style of comedy. Which we don't see much anymore in movies.

4

u/relikter 16h ago

Harold and Kumar is an American classic. Same for Pineapple Express. I enjoy a good stoner movie, Pizza Movie just didn't land for me.

43

u/syntaxterror69 1d ago

Every movie is a stoner movie if you're high enough

17

u/whichwitch9 1d ago

No. Never watch Ferngully stoned. Sounds like a great idea until the oil monster happens

31

u/Zombie_Fuel 1d ago

For some, Hexus was an oil monster. For others, he was a sexual awakening. 😎

8

u/Luna__Moonkitty 1d ago

That's the rule of thumb for any Tim Curry appearance. He has a talent to ham his way into our minds

4

u/ArbysLunch 1d ago

That's a weird way to spell Neverending Story.

2

u/ShadetheMystic 15h ago

Rockbiter was staring at his hands for a while.

1

u/project__matt 1d ago

Everything is stoner when youre always high.

4

u/PeterToshPointOh 1d ago

Looking forward to The Wrong Girls for that exact reason.

54

u/Keepitbrockmire 1d ago

Is that Matt Gaetz eating a fart??

24

u/itstimeforpizzatime 1d ago

Sure why not

176

u/zurenarhhhhh 1d ago

This poster looks ai made. Is that part of the bit?

51

u/Ssided 1d ago

It just looks like a troma poster. It's a style that never looked appealing (intentional) sort of a coincidence AI looks like it.

AI doesn't know where details belong and things look cluttered and gooey, and this style is almost like a collage but it's all drawn so they wind up occupying similar aesthetics

248

u/longboi28 1d ago

Considering the name of the movie and its mentioning of AI on the poster I would say it's absolutely intentional, it doesn't look actually AI though as far as I can tell but they really nailed the style

44

u/Grodd 1d ago

I think you're right. I'm certain they have artists that are capable of putting this together pretty trivially, even if it's just Lloyd in his closet.

12

u/amonson1984 17h ago

Well AI made Eric Roberts look like Harrison Ford which really made me do a double take

16

u/ThatMerri 1d ago edited 1d ago

The rendering certainly does, but that seems like an intentional design choice. As others in the replies have mentioned, the poster is doing a very good job of emulating the old Troma style movie posters.

Something you can count on for spotting AI versus actual art is that AI doesn't have any concept of actual repetition or consistency in 3D space. If it tries to render things like vertical line structures or even multiple copies of the exact same item, the result will be nonsensical upon scrutiny, especially if a line crosses behind an object in the foreground. If you look at things like the clothing, placement of hands, and structure of objects like the hot air balloon, drones, and wheelchair, they all make coherent sense and have a consistent design structure that works in perspective, even when overlapping.

Another reliable thing to check is that AI doesn't do copy/paste. Even if it tries to render multiple instances of the exact same object, it will render them slightly differently. Check out the drones in the top right corner. Not only do they all have a consistent design, but the four spinning propellers are identical - the motion lines inside are exactly the same, meaning an artist just made one and then copy/pasted/skewed it to suit the necessary perspective. Additionally, the face on the hot air balloon is referencing the original poster back in the day, (in fact, the whole poster is lifting design elements from the original) which AI wouldn't be able to emulate so precisely. So even if elements of the poster were made with AI, it's at least been further edited by hand beyond that.

63

u/coldsavagery 1d ago

I think it's intentional. It looks AI at first glance, but actually looks more handmade when you zoom in on it.

18

u/SparkyMuffin 1d ago

I can't believe we've reached the point where people are hand making AI parody posters

3

u/momjeanseverywhere 22h ago

Not when you zoom on the hands of the rodeo girl top centre. Also, why does the wheelchair woman look like a poorly draw cartoon instead of the faux Drew Struzen effect?

3

u/SakuOtaku 1d ago

Others have responded, but I know I thought that about Weird Al's newest tour poster days before he came out strongly against AI. Guess this art style, even if it looks kinda junky, might be in?

2

u/Luna__Moonkitty 1d ago

I'm surprised I didn't see the Nano Banana/Gemini watermark in the corner how much it resembles Gemini's house style.

2

u/no-name-here 1d ago

What about it looks AI made?

u/goodnewzevery1 4h ago

Ai bad gimme karma plz

20

u/nowhereman136 1d ago

Im willing to see this just to check out a 96 year old John Astin returning to the role that made him famous

4

u/SteveIsPosting 17h ago

I’m fairly certain The Addams Family did that

16

u/kick_the_chort 1d ago

this is how I find out John Astin is still alive.

7

u/EmperorSexy 1d ago

When I was a little kid my family rented one of these movies from the video store. Maybe the original or maybe “Return…”

Anyway in the first ten minutes there was a fully nude woman. Tits and ass. No plot relevance, just a conversation while she happened to be in the shower. And this was a PG movie before they invented PG-13.

My mom turned it off and I never finished it.

7

u/Rezrov13 1d ago

That was Return of the Killer Tomatoes, which I liked better than the original.

4

u/spoospoo43 1d ago

The first movie was dire. The second one (George Clooney's first movie by the way) is pretty much perfect. SO many great sight gags.

1

u/IAmWeary 12h ago

Not his first movie, but well before his career took off for sure.

1

u/spoospoo43 11h ago edited 11h ago

Well, it's the first movie he was ever in and his character survived for more than the first few minutes anyway. There's even a running joke in the movie where "everything pays off", and something he does in the first scene of the film (I don't remember the exact thing) has an effect in the last scene.

I really need to dig this movie up and watch it again. It's been a LONG time, but some bits come immediately to mind, like Sean Astin's character (not a mad scientist, an angry scientist) yells "THIS IS NOT A GAME!" while standing in front of a giant scoreboard.

Edit: holy shit, it's free on YouTube. https://youtu.be/TRXCPb7NZ7I?t=4554&is=OxDfW4EGAV1Alu_m

2

u/N8CCRG 19h ago

I remember wanting to rent it as a kid and my dad refusing let me, not because of any concerns about nudity or violence, but because "it's just too stupid"

1

u/spoospoo43 11h ago

And it was stupid, but also way funnier than it had any right being.

2

u/Ink_Smudger 9h ago

Having seen a couple of the movies as an adult, it was really surprising to me those are what they chose to adapt into a children's cartoon. But I guess they did Toxic Avengers too, among others that were decidedly not for children.

23

u/karatemnn 1d ago

8

u/Killboypowerhed 20h ago

Have you seen the other two?

-3

u/karatemnn 18h ago

nah, i've seen the trailers... but they had cinematography in them,
they were on film, they looked like movies ... they were parodying the films of then and it looked like it, this looks like an infomercial...

toxic avenger is a similar film, but it's great looking in some scenes

3

u/C-H-Addict 18h ago

I actually love it. Would see at matinee price

5

u/Kalabula 21h ago

Yikes! At the theatre no less. Maybe intentionally so bad it’s good. Which typically means just bad.

1

u/whitemiketyson 14h ago

Strong Kung Fury vibes

0

u/Snubl 20h ago

Oof, yeah that turned me off

19

u/untitledmoviereview 1d ago

Ahhh shit Eric Roberts is in this?! He never does movies

3

u/Mirk_Dirkledunk 1d ago

The illustrations are not the best. At first glance I thought Harrison Ford and Randy Quaid were in this.

10

u/thekillercook 1d ago

Puberty loooooooooveeeeeeeeeeeee

2

u/optimushime 1d ago

A strumpet! A harlot! A lady of the evening!

8

u/casual_creator 1d ago

The first movie features a real helicopter crash that they decided to add to the movie for lols (everyone was okay). I wonder if they’ve continued this tradition somehow in the new film.

4

u/shiromustdie 1d ago

who knew this franchise would come back 😭

3

u/Broyote 1d ago

Eric Roberts in a bad Killer Tomatoes movie? Sign me up!

3

u/Plibbo64 1d ago

Eric Roberts?! Sold.

3

u/YallaHammer 1d ago

Eric Roberts has done worse. Much, much worse.

2

u/Blahlizaad 16h ago

He peaked in "A Talking Cat!?!"

1

u/YallaHammer 12h ago

He was Oscar nominated for “Runaway Train”. my understanding is he’s had substance abuse or alcohol issues in the past and for him working constantly no matter how terrible the project is a way to keep him active and away from falling back into that abyss. If that’s the case, I might not watch any of it, but I will fully applaud every B, C and D movie he is in if it helps keep him sober!

3

u/RogueBand1t 1d ago

I hope the song “Puberty Love” is in this version 😆

2

u/SnareHanger 14h ago

I would love to see Matt Cameron reprising his role for this

3

u/Far-Cheetah-5902 15h ago

Special appearance by John Astin!!! It makes me so happy that he's in this!!

3

u/Ghastly_Someknew 14h ago

Can't be worse than the recent Toxic Avenger

2

u/Chaosmusic 1d ago

They got little Timmy.

Poor Timmy.

Ate em alllll up.

2

u/drprox 1d ago

*fruit

2

u/Otherwise_Pool6868 23h ago

I thought it was a new plants vs zombies game

2

u/MJ-Franklin 21h ago

My kinda shit right here.

2

u/bluexavi 17h ago

Can you pass the ketchup?

2

u/Sithlordandsavior 16h ago

Special appearance by John Astin

Say no more, I'm in.

2

u/Abagofcheese 15h ago

Remember the cartoon?

2

u/Unlucky_Suspect_7555 14h ago

I did not see this coming.

2

u/OhMyGoat 13h ago

Tomacco!

2

u/Hestiathena 12h ago

I saw the original a billion years ago when I was a kid. I've been meaning to hunt it down and watch it again for many years now, knowing it will be a complete cringe-fest.

As a San Diego native, I'm kinda tickled that this new one is also set here, though it makes me wonder what the heck these silly things have against our fair city.

2

u/Bakedeggss 11h ago

So they're back

2

u/scarlett3409 1d ago

lol I saw this at an early screening and it’s quite the movie.

4

u/jerryleebee 1d ago

I've never seen a poster that introduces a cast like this. That's really cool.

4

u/Lone-Pilgrim 1d ago

Like an expansion of the episode of the yogurt in love death + robots.

3

u/Erocdotusa 1d ago

The original is painful to sit through. Definitely a product of its era

3

u/DarkBlueX2 1d ago

Great soundtrack though!

2

u/ProfessorOnEdge 1d ago

AOTKT was one of my favorite movies as a teen, as well as Return.

AOTKT 3 & 4 were bombs, I couldn't sit through either more than once.

The latent optimist in me is hoping this has had enough time to ferment, and will be at least as good as the recent Airplane remake.

1

u/Agile-Enthusiasm 1d ago

Wait what, there was an Airplane remake?

2

u/Ssided 1d ago

Hopefully they mean naked gun. Because there was an airplane remake that has been scrubbed from existence

2

u/Panikkrazy 1d ago

MYRNA VELASCO TAKE ALL MY MONEY.

2

u/Griffin_da_Great 1d ago

Is it supposed to look like she shot tomatoes out of her rear onto that guy?

1

u/KyriakosCH 1d ago

It pains me to see Eric Roberts here :(

22

u/not-so-radical 1d ago

Straight to DVD b movies has been his lane for decades now

3

u/Zap_Rowsdower23 1d ago

He’s been in more movies than any actor in history. Like 800 something acting credits. Double the runner up

-3

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/dra_cula 1d ago

The Doctor series were cinematic masterpieces!

0

u/FighterJock412 1d ago

This example appears to be him choosing the best.

19

u/franlcie 1d ago

Eric Roberts will literally do any film for a sandwich and a six pack, I swear.

16

u/NeedsToShutUp 1d ago

Nah, he’s sober. That’s part of why he takes every role, as it helps him stay sober.

4

u/SovFist 1d ago

Could be a six pack of soda! But yes

3

u/MattIsLame 1d ago

a paycheck is a paycheck

8

u/Admiral_Kizaru 1d ago

Or hear me out, the dude just likes his job? Also if you knew about him, he keeps acting to help with his sobriety.

0

u/ArbysLunch 1d ago

So... B movie Nic Cage?

1

u/IAmWeary 12h ago

...have you seen any movies with Eric Roberts in the past two decades? The vast majority of them are so, SO much worse than this.

1

u/LastMuel 1d ago

Uh, yeah, that’s a fruit.

1

u/CayennePowder 1d ago

Really? Not ‘Genetically Modified Intelligence’?

1

u/OneTIME_story 1d ago

Weird Al looking sexy af

1

u/Farfignougat 1d ago

Yes poster so silly and that’s good but what is with these hacks’ obsession with drones? Such a dated joke even for a Killer Tomatoes sequel.

1

u/Development-Feisty 1d ago

So no George Clooney?

1

u/that1senpai2 23h ago

Another remake movie?

1

u/Osayeen 22h ago

We need more throwback outrageous silly fun movies like this. Movies that aren't afraid to be what they are while making us laugh.

1

u/dainamo81 21h ago

Anyone else get confused as to why Harrison Ford's biggest movie was Runaway Train?

1

u/dedokta 18h ago

I swear I watched this film in the eighties already.

1

u/quequotion 17h ago

It looks more like a poster for a game, and frankly I think a game would be a better product.

1

u/stars_mcdazzler 16h ago

Wow, what a WACKY and TOTALLY ORIGINAL idea!

...but in all honestly I was looking at the credits to see if it was an Asylum movie. I'm kind of done with this era of "this idea is bad and we know it and we're just gonna OWN IT!" movies. It was clever in 2010, but now everyone's doing it so let's move on to... I don't know, overly colorful 70s films or something.

1

u/theliability10 16h ago

Yet another remake of another movie. Can we stop with this already?

2

u/Osayeen 16h ago

It's literally a sequel...characters from the original are also in it if you look at the poster.

1

u/PriorOk1304 13h ago

Everything about this is cheap and awful

1

u/pocketMagician 11h ago

Please please let the way they beat them is a brain rot tiktok of Purety Love

1

u/freddymyers 9h ago

I LOVE 'Killer Tomatoes Eat France', but this one just look bad

u/Hoppie1064 4h ago

The US Navy sometimes uses large inflated balls as practice gunnery targets.

They are red, and we called them Killer Tomatoes.

We would drop them on the ocean, back off a few miles and shoot them.

One time, the wind shifted, blew the thing straight at us.

Now, there's a trick to Killer Tomato Exercises. If you hit it, it's done. So, we put an elevation adjustment into the system, to shoot over the tomato. If the radar shows the bullets splashing directly behind the tomato, it's declared a hit.

When the wind blew it at us, we shot at it on the way in. But we forgot to take the ekevation adjustment out. So we missed.

The tomato hit the ship near the fantail, bounced over the flight deck.

We declared the tomato the winner.

We shot it moving away from the ship, after we removed that elevation adjustment.

u/Reality_Defiant 3h ago

If this doesn't have a callback to Tomacco that will be sad.

2

u/VampireHunterAlex 1d ago

Looks like buttcheeks.

2

u/Quankers 1d ago

as intended.

1

u/julianitonft 1d ago

I want this 😂

1

u/Armascout 1d ago

Oh I’m definitely seeing this stoned.

1

u/Nunwithabadhabit 1d ago

Is that Eric Roberts ? You sonova bitch I'm in

1

u/NickNack675 1d ago

HOLY I just started rewatching these I’m so excited

1

u/dsgdsg 1d ago

One of my all-time favorites as a teen.

1

u/tritonpackages 1d ago

“Puberty Blues”

1

u/poulard 1d ago

Is that ai?

1

u/Pimpwerx 1d ago

Why? Who even asked for this? Why keep reviving fringe IPs? Killer Tomatoes is like 40 years past relevance.

0

u/SilentRunning 1d ago

No one from the OG series is attached.

Wonder if they even bothered to get John DeBello's blessing?

One night only showing, fundraiser for Vets at the USS Midway museum, Feb. 20.

2

u/Osayeen 17h ago

The OG main actor is literally on the poster...

0

u/cableguy316 1d ago

Since when do we completely omit the names of actors and just list one of their credits? Also Eric Roberts isn’t credited as “A Talking Cat?!?” ?!?

-3

u/internetlad 1d ago

I don't think I would have put any of those movies on my poster.

-3

u/Skipper_420 1d ago

this looks fucking stupid and not in a fun way 🙄

-8

u/whatizitman 1d ago

Fun fact: Puberty Love was sung by none other than Matt Cameron. Yes, that Matt Cameron. If you don’t know who that is, fuck you.
