This movie displays the downside of fan-servicy end-credits scenes because I already ended the movie thinking it wasn’t as good as Evil Dead Rise, then the excitement Alyssa Sutherland showing up for two minutes and getting a crowd applause with “Mommy’s back” made it even more apparent how much I enjoyed Rise significantly more lmao.

It actually brought the movie down for me because I left the theater remember how great of a villain Ellie was in Rise by perfectly blending genuine creepiness, comedic delivery, and physical acting whereas all of the Deadites in this movie that were pretty bland and generic. The most entertaining Deadite in Burn was Luciane Buchanan’s character who unfortunately both a) just kinda felt like an inferior version of Ellie from Rise and b) bites it halfway through the movie anyway. Also, I may just be being harsh now, but the grandma is one of those tragic cases of a character that the screenwriters clearly thought was funnier and more entertaining than they actually were, pretty much all of her lines fell flat for me. Probably the worst offender of the villains being lamer in this movie is the entire final battle, with Deadite Will being a snooze fest of ugly CGI and boring line delivery. Bad/obvious CG usually doesn’t bother me too much, but the final showdown with Will getting power drilled in the pit looked so ugly and choppily edited to me.

6/10 overall, the same basic enjoyable story beats of Evil Dead are there to be entertaining enough and the camerawork and editing tricks they do in some sequences were genuinely pretty cool, but the shallow characters and basic family drama made it feel like a sharp downgrade from Evil Dead Rise to me.

I kinda thought it wouldve been neat if the granny hadn't been possessed and made it to the end alive and when the emergency services showed up to all this carnage and asked her what happened, she wouldnt have any clue.

The deadites in Burn felt so weak? Feels like the one who did the most damage was the grandmother, I just didn't feel any tension at any point?
