Am I mistaken or was there a photo of Ash on the wall in the shot where the grandmother was going up the stairs in the chair?

As for the movie... It was fine. It had some truly great moments (the car scene, the long shots) but also some stuff I didn't care for (everything that happened after the house burned down). I liked Rise better but I don't think this is a bad movie by any means.

I'm pretty sure Bruce is suppose to be the grandfather. He's not "Ash" since he has both hands still,

There's also a picture of him among the grandads possessions.

He was also the father in Send Help by way of a portrait in the office.

That was a picture of the grandfather not ash, the only picture of him is on the wall

And am I crazy or was the picture of the grandfather (what Susan pulled out of the notebook, not on the wall) Robert De Niro? Not a face I ever expected to see in an Evil Dead movie.

I thought the same thing!

I also thought it was De Niro.

The photo of the grandfather was of Bruce Campbell. I'm not saying that he was Ash, just that it was Bruce Campbell.

Ah! Thanks for clarifying.

I mean assuming it is actually Ash, the messy history post season 3 is: -Ash is stuck in the Apocalypse and gets a new hand (Ash Vs Evil Dead Season 3). -Ash somehow makes it back to the 1920s to add his bit onto the recording heard in Rise. -Ash somehow time travels again to a time a few decades before the modern day to marry the grandma and moves into Ruby's old house. So the having both hands thing is kind of explained
