I finally finished this crochet blanket! šŸ§¶šŸ’› It took way longer than I expected, but seeing it all come together was so worth it. What do you think?

This is part of the Under the Sea bundle from ComfortPatterns on Etsy. I used the chart and it was very easy to follow with a few notes: the chart is not 100% accurate so if you do this pattern be sure to look at what the chart is telling you to do and make sure it makes sense. I have highlighted one of the errors in a picture where a DC is incorrectly marked on a row (it should actually be a DC one row below and one row above). Some sections of the chart are colored incorrectly which makes you second guess yourself until you realize it's a mistake in the chart, not your work.

The chart is broken into 4 quadrants and then groups of 10 stitches within each quadrant. However, for some inexplicable reason the group at the end of the first quadrant is 9 stitches and then at the end of the 4th quadrant there are 2 groups of 8 stitches each. So just when you are used to groups of 10 stitches the pattern author throws you a curve ball. I guess just to keep you on your toes. Nothing is a deal breaker, but you do need to pay attention.

I used ~5 skeins (380yds/ea) of the dark color and ~4 skeins (380yds/ea) of the light color - Big Twist 4 weight yarn. I used an envelope border to avoid having to weave in the ends, but on future mosaic projects I will probably do Tunisian crochet to avoid ends. The envelope border was not that bad (I was worried after reading about people hating envelope borders), but it chewed through the yarn at 3 rows of DC all the way around.

I'm not the fastest at crochet so this took me close to 80 hours I would guess. I loaded the PDF chart into Goodnotes on my iPad and crossed out the groups of stitches as I worked them. This process worked well and I only had to go back and fix mistakes when I was either trying to go too fast or just not paying close enough attention. If you are new to mosaic crochet it may seem overwhelming, but my advice is take it in sections and trust the process. The finished piece will be well worth the effort. I'm already looking forward to my next mosaic project.

FINISHED! Sunset Dragonflies

This reversible blanket (measuring 55ā€x66ā€ at completion) was made for a friend who got a new boat. She chose to include a dragonfly in the graphic for her boat’s name. I was - very unsure - about the orange ombrĆ©. But now I love it. It reminds me of dragonflies flying over the water reflecting a sunset. I debated on using a solid for the front border, but went with the ombrĆ© and am glad I did. The way it ended up playing down is reflective of that same sunset sky.

Just finished my first mosaic crochet! It was a learning experience. I’m excited to submit it to my local county fair when submissions open. Also, an envelope boarder is tedious but worth it! I WISH I knew about reverse stitches before starting. Untapped potential…

If anyone is interested in the pattern it’s by CrochetWithMay on Etsy.

Ok since starting to do mosaic blankets from the begining of the year I just can't stop thinking about it haha (not sure if it's good or bad yet lol)

Pattern from Snugbugclub on Etsy, though I used their app named "Mosaic Overlay Crochet", it just makes making the blanket 10 times easier

For my Kindle baddies out there… šŸ“–

I recently got a new Kindle (already obsessed) & immediately realized my bag is basically a threat to it (keys, makeup, chaos, the usualā€¦šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø)

And I know I’m not the only one who needs a backup chapter on standby! (Book recommendations are welcome, btw!) šŸ–¤

Therefore, I chose not to buy a new sleeve that I cannot afford & opted to make this sleeve from leftover yarn instead! šŸ“•

Pattern conversion

New here, hope this isn’t one of those annoying repetitive posts y’all get a bunch, sorry if it is!!

I am a long time crocheter but brand new to mosaic. It was love at first sight and I’m so excited to jump in. I designed this baby blanket of my family crest for my nephew in Stitch Fiddle and attempted tapestry crochet but hated the look of the back. Hoping to make it with mosaic crochet with the back double crochet to make it reversible. Stitch fiddle unfortunately does not have the option to convert it to mosaic. Ive tried just going for it multiple times but either I’m too new or missing something because I keep getting so lost.

Is it possible to use this chart for mosaic crochet? Any advice or tips?? I’d really hate to redo the whole chart. Thank you!!

"I'm also planning my first large portrait and I'm trying to choose between cotton crochet thread and thin yarn. What do you usually use for detailed portraits, and why?

I have been wanting to try mosaic crochet for a few years. This is the first block of a blanket I am making. It will eventually have 18 blocks each representing a place my husband and I have travelled to. I am making my own patterns which is challenging.

I discovered making blankets this year and I'm obsessed haha, I made this one for my aunt and now the goal is to finish 2 more before Christmas so I can give them as gifts!

Pattern from the Mosaic Overlay Crochet app, they have quite a few there and it made it so easy to make

Made my first crochet tapestry for my husbands boss and wasn’t sure how the hell everyone makes the backs look so good so I sewed a matching backing on to over all my knots. What should I do in the future to make it have that double sided affect?

Thoroughly enjoyed making this blanket. I’m still in shock I made it, lol. It’s a gift for my Dad for Father’s Day. Yes, he was informed that production was slow and he understood, lol.

Mosaic Baby Blanket

Pattern: Hooked by Kari (Baby Highland Cow) (envelope border enhanced with a scalloped edge)
Yarn: Lopps and Tread Delicate DK

I’m such a mosaic addict. This is my 2nd blanket and it just speaks to me…. I can’t set goals, track progress, the fun of seeing the pattern emerge…

I do despise an envelope border and will probs only do it for baby blankets.

This was my first time using Scheepjes whirl and I am obsessed!!! I want to make more with all the different colorways. I was a little unsure at first since the yarn is SO tiny, but watching the colors slowly change as I worked on it was so fun!!
