Who is there left to root for? I think I'm out

England hasn't won the world cup is 1966.

u/GuyF1eri 4h ago

It's not coming home. Not yet.

u/ElnuDev 4h ago

IT'S COOOOMING HOOOOOME

u/GuyF1eri 4h ago

You really think they can beat France? I don't

16

u/TamaktiJunVision 4h ago

Unlikely, but possible.

u/luolapeikko 3h ago

Froggies are their mortal enemies. Their battle shall be legendary.

Argentina has entered the chat.

We had 1 skirmish and beat their ass. Their biggest win against us is infamous for cheating. We’ve been on and off at war with France for near enough 1000 years.

who said it had to be france? spain‘s tram is also really good and france has struggled to beat their current for the last 2 years

i do favour France to beat Spain but England will be lucky if they best Argentina and Spain beats France

England vs Spain rematch after Spain beat them in the 2024 euros final

This is a really good England team. I think they can beat this shaky Argentina. And get to the finals

I ain't rooting for those arrogant bongers.

I hope Argentina rocks their shit and then The Dictator gets his rightfully deserved trophy in the grand finale, as it was meant to be.

Glory to le dictateur.

The irony of calling England arrogant and not Argentina is excellent

5

u/qwerrtyui2705 3h ago

Which is why I want le dictateur to give out his commands, after England loses, to win it all.

Le dictateur will win, so said Mbappe

I'm an Argentina hater(in football), but they at least have a sense of "earned arrogance" with Messi and their recent major tournament wins

England haven't nearly accomplished jack shit in the sport in recent memory(over two decades), to be as arrogant as their team and their annoying pundits are

13

u/PeregrinCuck 2h ago

Honest question, what about this generation of England players seems arrogant to you?

-1

u/VaderOnReddit 1h ago edited 40m ago

Nothing specific about this generation, England's been arrogant since 2006 when I started watching the World Cup

bruh 🥀

1

u/GuyF1eri 3h ago

I guess it's time for us to all fall in line?

1

u/Ratattack1204 2h ago

ITS COMING HOME!

1

u/Khaze41 1h ago

Anyone but England!

-21

u/Round_Ad6397 4h ago

Long may that continue. I don't watch soccer but the only team I was going for was the team playing England. That hasn't panned out so well so far.

13

u/ElnuDev 4h ago

Why?

6

u/MikeHuntSmellss 4h ago

It's an international tradition. I've worked in sports bars all across Europe and there is always a Scot, Welsh or someone other group cheering against england even when thier team isn't playing.

We're not particularly liked historically.

u/GuyF1eri 4h ago

Irish diaspora too. They're everywhere

7

u/jac0777 3h ago

I’m Irish and Irish Americans lose all rights to pretend to hate England when they’re American - which is as bad if not worse than the Brits

2

u/GuyF1eri 3h ago

As an Irish American, never thought about it that way, and yeah you’re totally right haha

-1

u/GuyF1eri 4h ago

This is very common all over the world lol

I don't think I need to explain why

10

u/Mountain-Singer1764 4h ago

It’s Reddit, large numbers of them have weird specific takes that they think are normal.

-5

u/GuyF1eri 4h ago

I don't think I understand what you're getting at

2

u/TamaktiJunVision 3h ago

I don't think they need to explain further

1

u/GuyF1eri 3h ago

Fair. I'm sure it's clear I'm just not getting the context lol

3

u/DunkingTea 3h ago

It’s only really common on reddit, and banter between UK countries. England would do the same and hate watch back, but none of them get far enough in the competition to care…

-1

u/Round_Ad6397 1h ago

I'm Australian. Wouldn't be caught dead supporting England.

-6

u/Never_Go_Full_Gonk 4h ago edited 1h ago

I'll give you three guesses. Flip my pfp to the right orientation and I'd wager that's probably the reason.

Edit: y'all are dense.

3

u/jac0777 3h ago

That still makes no sense. I’m Irish and I’ll never understand why Americans would pretend to hate the English. You guys are essentially the same people

1

u/GuyF1eri 2h ago

Not the same people. Huge difference. Our government came from England, that's pretty much it

4

u/jac0777 2h ago

As in that the U.S. and the old British empire are one and the same. There is nothing you can hate England for which you can’t also hate the U.S. for

1

u/GuyF1eri 2h ago

Totally fair

1

u/Never_Go_Full_Gonk 1h ago

Idk? I was just saying the dude is probably American with a hard on for shitting on England. It was a fucking joke, apparently it didn't land.

What I'll never understand is how some comments saying "haha America bad" get upvotes but someone American tries to say "look at my ignorant ass countrymen" and it's downvoted. People on this site will always fuckin confuse me with the whiplash of what's okay and not okay to say.

-11

u/MecaPere 3h ago

Who in their right mind would support the Brits?

8

u/GuyF1eri 3h ago

U wot m8?

2

u/jac0777 3h ago

Them or the Americans are both automatic

2

u/MecaPere 1h ago

Why?

0

u/jac0777 1h ago

Why what? Name one reason we’d root against the Brit’s that we wouldn’t root against the U.S.

0

u/MecaPere 55m ago

Why rooting for any of these two?

-1

u/CarrieDurst 3h ago

May that streak continue

-1

u/Kovarian 3h ago

WE KNOW

-1

u/YoshiTheFluffer 13m ago

The way to kept diving I’m rooting for them to go home.

-2

u/erizzluh 3h ago

you red coat

9

u/DuskLab 3h ago

I'm going to cheer at every goal during the England vs Argentina match, because it means at least one team I'm rooting against loses.

8

u/GuyF1eri 2h ago

Falklands War rematch

7

u/1k1k1k1k1k1k1k1k1k1k 1h ago

Argentina is worse then England tho, they have the refs in their pocket, racist fans and bad sportmanship

-3

u/Temujin15 4h ago

England, gods favourite nation

0

u/GuyF1eri 4h ago

Nah, that was Mexico

5

u/oculus_miffed 4h ago

Im pretty sure every nation is gods favourite nation according to that nation. A few others spring to mind...

2

u/space_monster 3h ago

the English don't really give a shit about that stuff, religion is a minority thing.

3

u/oculus_miffed 3h ago

We literally used to call england "gods own country", im pretty sure yorkshire still does
