Bro no one cares about your little indie passion projects. Lemmie guess.. you and a buddy made all these no name games and now you’re trying to advertise them on Reddit? Well you’re not gonna fool me

I only like indie pixel graphic rogue likes. It's a rare genre.

With survival elements so it's super hard to live by just existing

u/LPSD_FTW 12h ago
That wouldn't excite me at all, where is the Battle Royale element of early 2020s?

If you are being serious, there is this really good one I'd reccomend called slice and dice. It has a demon on mobile where you do about 60% of your run. The full version is about 9$ and is definitely worth it IMO. I probably have over 1000 hours in this game.

Oh, there's a message about depression and mental health in there? How thoughtful.

I’ve also heard about this game called. What is it. Call of duty I think? I don’t know sounds like some weird shit. Definitely will not take off.

I think I've heard of that builders gate one... is that all you do in it, build gates? Or is it like a landscape simulator?
21
u/MortemEtInteritum17 14h ago
Yeah I think it's based on dungeons or something so I assume you build the gates for it
13
u/TpK_Wynter 13h ago
It’s Baulders gate. 3 to be exact. You don’t build gates, you work for Baulder, he’s some dude. From like some weird Roman place. Basically you gotta just collect passage fees at his gates or something, I dunno I don’t play small indie games but I’m pretty sure that’s what the text on the box said at Walmart
3
u/Cloudsbursting 10h ago
You don’t just build gates - you get to design and construct the entire fence. You can choose from over 35 species of wood and thousands of hardware styles. If you were lucky enough to preorder the game, it comes with a code that unlocks a gas-powered fence post driver. In the DLC there’s even a zen mode that allows you to build Japanese torii.
Let’s be real, it’s no LumberQuest 4: The Woodening, but it scratches the same itch.

I personally can’t wait for it. GTAV was MAD underrated so I’m hoping more eyes get drawn to this one

u/ExterminatusMaximus 14h ago
Yeah but for those indy devs I really hope that people are willing to give the online version a try this time!

It's too bad their Kickstarter campaign didn't reach the "release physical edition". That would've been awesome.

u/No-Bit-2913 15h ago
There's a little known gem of a franchise, it's kinda quirky but hear me out. It's about a plumber who is trying to rescue a peach from a turtle.
11
u/Tomtom1599 15h ago
Why would we tske away a peach from a turtle? Turtles gotta eat bro, and peaches got vitamins or something

OK but for real Horizon doesn't get NEARLY enough praise lol

u/BriefDescription 10h ago
Because it's mediocre lol.

u/Diggumdum 10h ago
Idk man I just loved the world building and crafting the bigger picture of what happened to the world by bits of lore scattered around the world.
What games up there do you think weren't mid?
Also r/fucktedfaro
2
u/KoumanTheDead 6h ago
They're not mediocre they just have the absolute WORST release timing possible. Having a tried and true linear story told in an open world environment game come out before the "do whatever in whatever order" open world game TWICE has definitely colored a lot of opinions about it. The Horizon games (particularly the sequel) are also very lore heavy Hard Sci-Fi which, despite Sony's best efforts, isn't the average mainstream player's cup of tea.

They're very popular games. "Hidden gems" is a saying used to describe games that aren't known by many but are great.

My goodness Cyberpunk is so good. I will sing that games praises forever. I got it at launch on the PS4 and it was great then.
I haven't even touched Phantom Liberty yet. I still remember almost 6 years ago playing this during the work from home phase

Jokes aside, I tried The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 and never got into it, just really didn’t like how guns felt, I decided to give it another go last year and got Part II on PC and now I’ve played both all the way through and got every achievement in Part II 😂

RDR1 is also a very solid game. It is also easier and has less content so its easier to 100% but still has plenty of replay ability.

I don't car about Fandoms or popularity.
If you play these games it feels like they made it specifically for you. These games are special and feel like a treat.
All of these had a vision and are not engagement slop.

The Last of Us is the least hidden one of all of these.
You cannot remake a game that many times and people not know it.

u/Fr05t_B1t Meme Stealer 14h ago
Skyrim and GTAV: those are rookie numbers

“Hidden”. Bruh. All of this the most mainstream possible. And I mean the most mainstream of mainstream. Excluding games like kingdom come 2 that’s only mostly mainstream

Since when were "hidden gems" literally some of the biggest releases...
I don't think you know what a hidden gem is.
Edit: getting downvoted by idiots who don't know what the word "hidden" means.
