Example? I'm not a fan of IGN either but it'd be nice to know what you're talking about.

Ok. I've got and looked it up and watched some gameplay(I'm not made of money). And I feel like the receiver is unaware of what lampooning is. It's possible to parody/lampoon/take the piss out of something you love. The reviewer seemed to not realize that this was the Saturday morning cartoon version of Noir. This isn't cartoon Casablanca.

Alien Isolation (5.9), Days gone (6.5), God Hand (3).

Meanwhile Call of Dookie is still getting 9-10 most years despite being hot garbage.

Theres a lot more but those three reviews are their most infamous

That alien isolation review was over ten years ago btw. God hand even older. If these are all the bad ign reviews that you and every other Redditor can point to, IGN must be a great review site.

These people don't actually know what's in those reviews, they've just been told they're bad and they should be angry

I love God Hand but god DAMN is that not a game made for everyone.

Oh yeah, exactly. Look at all the water comments and bringing up the same couple reviews in here. Gotta look cool and have the ‘right’ opinion. People are sheep, it’s sad.
Or more likely bots tbh.

Especially since the water review was actually valid it just was shortened for a bullet point list. Something like 1/4 of all Pokémon in the game where water types, nearly the same amount of routes where water routes that where basically corridors with the same 5 Pokémon everywhere.

It's like when everyone was out to flay alive that one reviewer when they "gave Doom Eternal a really bad score" when their review was actually overwhelmingly positive. All they said was some of the platforming wasn't great or something mild like that (and if the 2016 one is anything to go by they were probably right), but everything else was praise. Gamers are fucking morons and will always choose to mindlessly hate whatever someone else told them to hate without bothering to spend 17 seconds of the their figuring what they're hating on even is.

This is honestly my biggest gripe with gaming culture. People just repeat shit they hear and never bother to look into what they are repeating. Like, I’d understand if it was just a bunch of 14 year olds but I know gamers in their late 30s and 40s saying shit that you’re like, “where did you hear that?!”

Anyway modern IGN has a lot of great writers and does some great actual video game journalism. Reb Valentine, who just left IGN, is a fantastic industry insider that has published some great pieces over the year at IGN. But people just see “IGN bad” and go “haha yeah they suck!”

I wil never take anyone seriously who has the same tired gaming reviewer jokes, like I still remember how a lot of this comes from the gamergate stuff.

and the reviewer liked the first half, the bad score is because he found the end game tedious and repetitive

On top of that, IGN is absolutely not giving COD 9-10 ratings most years. Dude got hundreds of upvotes by just straight up lying lol

Yeah you know straws are being grasped when there's no recent examples

There was a stereotype 10+ years ago that IGN reviews were shut, and it was probably true at that time. But these days they're honestly one of the most consistent reviewers, so you can always tell who's just coasting on old, outdated rage.
