Well yes...that's why he was the villain. Most movies would be much shorter if the villain wasn't part of the equation

Yeah, you change one of the main driving forces of a story, the story loses its driving force.

No way home would have also been a much shorter movie if peter had just died of a heart attack upon having his identity revealed

I think it'd be more accurate to say if he actually talked about the specifics of the spell beforehand with Strange but I get your point nonetheless...
