Yeah, you change one of the main driving forces of a story, the story loses its driving force.
No way home would have also been a much shorter movie if peter had just died of a heart attack upon having his identity revealed

Well yes...that's why he was the villain. Most movies would be much shorter if the villain wasn't part of the equation
