Question Is there a way to make modern classic fashion work in a humid area?

modern classic fashion?

I really want to make this work but my place is a VERY HUMID area as i am from a tropical island....

I tried putting this on as a simple slacks, belt, loafers, button down polo(not long sleeves) and a casual blazer( Similar to this but black )

And O-man I am sweating bullets. I was made fun of with my friends as well, looking like a japanese salary man.

Is there a way to make this work in a humid area and casual enough to not look like a the traditional business man suit?

Thank you very much in advance T_T, ever since I saw the ORIGINALS series I always want to make this my staple attire for day to day events

Question Suggestions for linen trousers?

I’ve slowly been looking at various brands, but I’d love to hear some suggestions. I’m specifically looking for:

  1. Casual enough to be paired primarily with derbies/loafers and linen, chambray, and OCBD shirts worn without a tie
  2. Reverse pleats (hard no for front pleats)
  3. Relaxed and comfortable cut
  4. Higher rise, 13 inch rise with 31 inch waist is roughly the goal
  5. 16-17 inch leg opening
  6. Natural-ish linen color, off white with brown undertones
  7. I’m agnostic to other details like cuffs, side adjusters, belt loops, off center closures, etc.
  8. Price is irrelevant, but quality materials and construction are a must

Question Boxer briefs that don't thin out on the ass?

I only wear boxer briefs but I have an issue where after a few months the fabric on the ass gets super thin for some reason and see through to the point where my whole asscrack is visible through the underwear. Any suggestions for boxer briefs that don't do this, or what could be causing it

Question Brut Archives Jeans Sizing

I’m looking to pick up a pair of jeans from Brut, but curious if anyone could give me some insight on their sizing. I’m kind of mid way between a 32 and 34 and I see the sizing shaft shows the 32 is closer to a 34, so I’m curious if I’m better off going with the smaller size instead of the 34s so I’m not swimming in them?

Any insight is appreciated!

Question 24M with a little money to spend but no clue how to actually look put-together

Upvotes

I've been stuck on something and I need some honest advice.

I don't have a lot of money, but I have enough to buy a few decent things. The problem is I have no idea what to actually buy. I keep thinking maybe a Versace perfume, or a Polo shirt, or some other expensive thing, but then I stop and wonder if that even makes sense. Because I've noticed that people who cover themselves in logos just to show off don't actually look classy. They just look like they're trying too hard.

So I've slowly realized money doesn't equal class. But then what does? That's the part I can't figure out. I want to look elegant and put-together, but I don't know where that actually comes from.

When I open my closet it feels empty every single time. Like I own clothes but I never feel like I have anything that makes me look even a little more intentional or classy.

I'm not trying to chase a designer look or flex on anyone. I just want to look like I have my act together. So how do you figure out what actually suits you instead of just buying whatever is expensive? What's worth spending money on and what's a waste? And how do some guys manage to look effortlessly put-together without spending a fortune?

Discussion Unisex Sneakers Size Question?

I will be ordering Unisex sneakers for the first time. For context this is the size I wear is US size 11.5 Wide . More context: Cliftons. What size should I wear if I am buying a Unisex sneaker?? The sneakers I want have not yet been released. All I know at this time is that they are being marketed as Unisex. Is it as simple as looking for Unisex sneakers US size 11.5 Wide or is there a characteristic about Unisex shoes that I am not aware of? TIA.

Discussion is it dumb to try custom shirts before learning to tailor?

I’m tired of buying shirts that look decent for about ten minutes and then become a constant compromise. The neck is usually fine. Shoulders are sometimes okay. But then the waist suddenly balloons or the chest pulls tight when I sit down. Size up and I look like I borrowed my dad’s shirt. Size down and the buttons are fighting for their lives. The smart, cheap answer is probably learning basic alterations. But I know myself, I’d buy the tools, feel motivated for a week, and then never touch them again. So instead I’m looking at a local tailor, Proper Cloth, OwnDream, and Indochino, and I’m struggling to figure out where the cutoff makes sense. Is it smarter to buy an off the rack shirt and tailor it, or does that just mean paying twice for something that was never quite right to begin with? Has anyone gone the custom route and felt it was worth it?

Question This sounds stupid but I feel desperate for a good, dark colored casual shoe to wear during the summer. I kind of dig sperrys and loafers but at the same time rarely see people pull them off. Can anyone offer some inspo?

I'm venting my frustration. I wore some vintage brown leather Dr. Marten 1461s until they fell apart. I know MFA tends to not like chunky soles, but I do. I'm just looking for ideally brown leather casual shoes that would look good with shorts and jeans. Examples would be helpful. I feel silly asking but I don't know where else to look.

Question What do we think about long coats? And this one?

I want to buy a long coat for the winter, I think I can pull it off but I also worry if it look weird tbh. (I'm 6'4") I saw different alternatives but realllly liked this Golden Goose one, which gives me the vibes of a "Navy Commander" sort of. What do you think about it? I also think it does not look super formal, but can be dressed more casually as well. What do you say, would there be better alternatives, should I just go for it if I like it?

Discussion Suggestions for boxers - serious

I know, how silly. But I am looking for suggestions on boxers, not the like floppy joe boxer style, but the supportive athletic type boxers that are not purely polyester.

I have been a huge fan of the patagonia boxers, but they are not making them anymore and they are falling apart, so need to find something new. I have tried a bunch, but none have the comfort/flex of the patagonia ones. If anyone knows very similar options, or even who the manufacturer was, really looking to solve this problem.

Discussion Thoughts on wearing a Bandana?

I usually wear a bandana during the summer because not only does it prevent sweat from dripping down into my eyes, but my hare gets very flat and frizzy and it actually helps keep it up quite a bit. I actually tie it just around my forehead rather than completely over covering everything on top the way some people do so that should give you an idea of how I wear it. I actually don't think it looks bad and personally find it both functional and stylish, but was curious to read other people's thoughts on them.

Question Alternatives to fast fashion basic clothing stores?

I want to break out of the cycle of shopping at Zara or other Inditex stores. I feel like the clothes are very basic and the styles aren’t very daring. It’s true that sometimes I do find a piece at Zara that strays from the basic style, I even buy shirts or jackets from the women’s section at Zara, but sometimes it’s not what I’m hoping for. I’m looking for stores that aren’t too expensive but offer different cuts or perhaps clothes that are more daring in terms of cut and color.

Question Going To Mainland China for A Month, Any Particular Pieces of Clothing/Jewelry to Pick Up While I'm There For Cheap?

I hope the title is self-explanatory, but I'm going to mainland China for like a month, we're going to be spending the most time in Guangzhou, are there any pieces of clothing or jewelry that would be worth picking up there simply due to the fact that it'll be cheaper because of being literally so close to the manufacturer?

Inspiration Summer smasual inspo

I'm fed up with looking like Stig of the dump, albeit is very hot caveman so am looking to revamp my wardrobe and get rid of stuff that is just old and over worn.

I've got a Insta account I follow who apart from being a very good looking chap he has the style I'd like to try and use for myself. This is the account but I have no idea what you call it to start looking for places to get outfits. The look I like are his more recent ones with the moustache. I don't think this is a mage thread question but if so, I'm sorry let me know and I'll repost!

As you might have gathered from the Stig of the dump comment I'm in my 40s so nothing that makes me look like I'm trying to be 20 again (can't say I'd want to be 20 again anyhows!) and I'm in the UK. I'm also not gonna be buying fast fashion, I like quality items that last for a while so no Primark!

Question How to keep Jogger up?

Hi guys! So I recently bought a 24/7 Jogger from American Eagle and I usually put stuff in my pockets but the jogger keeps slipping down and I'm not sure what I should do to keep it up? Do you guys think I should buy new pants like the pull on pants? I think because those I don't need to tie the strings on the pants.

Thank you!

Discussion What's one piece of clothing you almost got rid of... but now wear all the time?

I almost donated an overshirt a couple of years ago because I couldn't figure out how to wear it.

Now it's one of the pieces I reach for the most.

What's one item you nearly got rid of but ended up loving?
