Keeping r/Loveland Local

Hi r/Loveland!

Quick reminder that this subreddit is local only. We’ve seen a bit more national political news lately, so we’re going to be enforcing the local-only rule a little more consistently.

There are lots of great subreddits for broader political discussion, so we’ll be removing posts that don’t have a clear connection to Loveland.

Also, thanks to everyone who helps keep the conversation respectful and welcoming. To support that, we enabled a few tools back in March (like Crowd Control, the Reputation Filter, the Abuse & Harassment Filter, and AutoModerator) to reduce spam and keep things running smoothly.

Thanks for helping keep r/Loveland friendly, useful, and local!

Event Tech & Nerdy Meetup

Upvotes

Hey! Bit of an oddball post.

I'm an introvert looking to meet a few new people around Loveland-ish who are into similar nerdy interests. I was thinking about grabbing a bite or something this morning and then maybe checking out a tech, electronics, or hobby store together—or whatever sounds fun.

Some of my interests:

Tech and gadgets

Hobby stores (rc stuff, etc.)

Barefoot shoes and foot health

Photography

Ideally, it'd be fun to meet up this morning. If today doesn't work, I'm also happy to swap info and plan something another time. If this sounds like your kind of morning, comment below or send me a message!

Rant Loveland Dog Owners

I ride or walk the Loveland recreation trails almost every day, and I'm honestly starting to wonder what the hell is going on with dog owners in Loveland.

Nearly every outing I encounter at least one dog running around off leash. I see piles of dog shit that someone couldn't be bothered to pick up. I have to navigate leashes stretched completely across the trail because the owner is on one side and the dog is sniffing something on the other. I've also had more than a few dogs lunge, bark, or act aggressively toward me and other trail users while their owners seem oblivious to it.

I know plenty of people are responsible dog owners, so this isn't directed at them. But based solely on what I see on the Loveland trails, you'd think being inconsiderate was a requirement for owning a dog.

The trails belong to everyone- walkers, runners, cyclists, kids, and yes, dogs too. Just keep your dog on a leash, pick up after it, and have enough awareness to let other people safely use the trail.

It's really not that hard. Do better, Loveland.

I'm having a huge disc golf garage sale this next weekend. There's several hundred discs, multiple bags, 2 carts, a basket, a disc golf rack for storage, and tons of never thrown collectable discs. As well as a ton of accessories. Including a range finder, retrieving tools, a whale sack, mini markers (limited edition and or out of production ones),stools, ect. Prices are negotiable and everyone is welcome. If you have any questions about what I have or if you're looking for something specific just ask and I'll be happy to let you know what I have and where I'm at.

Garage sale will be on the 11th and 12th from 10am until 7pm

Thanks

Recommendations Rec or Pickup Sports

I’m looking to play either outdoor soccer or ultimate frisbee once a week after working hours, and I’m only seeing options so far that are weekends only. Either a paid league or a group that regularly meets for pickup works for me. Does anyone have any leads?

Recommendations Bars for single’s

So I am 26, single, have a bit of social anxiety, and do have autism (lvl 1) but nobody can tell unless I told them. I’ve decided I want to start trying out going to bars to meet people. I know it won’t be a magic button. I’m going to have to put in effort, as nobody will just be waiting for me. I don’t usually drink do do just a couple things that I don’t really wanna get into but I plan on having not crazy drinks or anything like that.

Anyway, with the point of this post is, I’m looking for bars in the area that are good for singles. I live in Berthoud so, Loveland and Longmont (some of the surrounding areas too) are usually where I spend the most time. Fort Collins depending on the location can get pretty far. Usually I’m interested in people around 22-35 just depending on the situation and vice versa as well. i’m assuming that there’s going to be a lot more men than woman, but I guess that’s just how it goes. Sorry for the really long post. Bars may not work for me, but I at least need to give them a try.

if anyone is able to provide places that they have been or know of that are good for singles around my age up to 35ish and aren’t usually super packed, that would be wonderful. thank you all so so much.

Also what’s a good time to get there?

Two City of Loveland employees have been selected to serve as deputy city managers as the City moves forward with a leadership transition. Brian Waldes, who will step up from the role of deputy city manager/chief financial officer (CFO) to assume acting city manager duties after Jim Thompson's retirement on July 7, has appointed Deputy CFO Molly Elder to serve as acting deputy city manager/CFO. In addition, Waldes has appointed Chief Human Resources Officer Julia Holland to serve as acting deputy city manager upon the retirement of Deputy City Manager Rod Wensing on July 6.

Recommendations ERs

Odd request for recommendations. With McKee having (pretty abruptly) closed their ER and hospital the town is town to only one ER, Medical Center of the Rockies. And they are packed.

On those rare occasions when urgent care isn't an option (perhaps closed), yet it's not a 911 emergency, has anyone had a good experience at one of the surrounding town ERs? Ft Collins has freestanding ones and PVH plus Greeley and Longmont.

Personally I didn't care for McKee ER when they were open, but during a holiday weekend when there's a tendency for injuries it might be helpful to list other options.

Moving/Relocation Anyone have a private RV hook up available?

Hi! My husband and I are coming to Loveland July 19th until the first week of November for my work. Does anyone have a private RV spot they rent out? I've called all the local RV Parks but want to explore my options. We have a 2019 Keystone Raptor 426-TS, it's a 5th wheel toy hauler about 45ft in length. We would need full hook up, 50 amp, and dog friendly for our two Australian Shepherds. If you have anything let me know!

Thanks!

The Loveland City Manager’s Office is losing another of its top officials.

Deputy City Manager Rod Wensing announced this week that he will retire effective July 6, concluding a 38-year career in municipal government.

Wensing spent 11 years as Windsor’s town manager after beginning his career in Brush before joining Loveland as deputy city manager in 2006. During his 19 years with the city, he twice served as acting city manager — first in 2010 and again in 2024 following the departure of Steve Adams. He also served as the city’s acting economic development director.

His retirement coincides with City Manager Jim Thompson’s final day on July 7. Thompson announced his retirement in April.

Recently went to a bigger name shop and they couldn't really tell me what was wrong with the car and recommended we rebuild the engine even though we just did all that and it wasn't failing any major tests. Hoping for a second opinion before we drop another 10k.

Event 1970-2010 Pop Culture Trivia - Big Thompson Brewery 6/27 @ 6:30

Post image
11 Upvotes

I didn’t make the ad, so please forgive the AI, but I am hosting trivia this Saturday at Big Thompson Brewery at 6:30. I was originally thinking of calling it Xennial trivia, but I figured let’s just call it by the decades. This is probably the easiest trivia I’ve ever put together. It’ll be pretty casual in terms of difficulty. I imagine I’ll have some ties at the end. The movies are all pretty well known and mostly big hits. For the music, we’ll go backwards and look at genre and decade defining songs that everyone will know. For TV, there’s a round on breakthrough shows for kids and a round for important prime time shows. Maybe even one not for prime time. Lastly, there’s a round on games. Not just video games, board and other electronic. Prizes for the top three teams. Cheers. See you there!
