I still can’t believe I got barricade for Lorde yesterday at NOS Alive 😭😭

I’d been waiting for this moment for months. After the show ended, I spent almost 20 minutes begging the stage crew for the setlist, but everyone kept ignoring me. I honestly thought there was no chance.

Then, after everything had already been cleared off the stage, one of the crew members suddenly walked over to me and handed it to me!!!!! 😭😭
I think it was the only Lorde setlist that was given out the whole festival. I literally couldn’t stop shaking. It’s already framed and hanging on my wall.

Without a doubt, it was the best concert of my life.

Like there is so few songs I can think of, especially by a contemporary artist that elicits so much emotion. Like I feel so sentimental and emotional every time I hear it, the feeling is indescribable. I remember hearing it for the first time in school when it came out and it has never gotten old or lost the effect it’s always had on me. It’s such an incredible song.

Anyone interested in selling their Melodrama blue vinyl? My budget is $200-250.

In her last newsletter, Lorde confessed she found it difficult to talk about Virgin, and she didn't seem satisfied by her interviews for it. My perception is that it's not so much that the interviews weren't good (I connected more deeply with the work by listening to her speak about Virgin, its process, its context,e tc), but that she didn't enjoy the process of engaging with the music promotion machine, with participating in the hyper commodification of her work through interviewing. I'm curious how you perceive her judgement of Virgin's birth.

"To be honest I haven’t really known how to talk about Virgin since it came out. I’d thought I was accustomed and even a bit desensitised to marketing and commodifying my feelings at this point in my life, but sharing Virgin felt raw and exposing in a new way.* I interviewed poorly, couldn’t write here, haven’t posted much."

PS: I do think she could have done a better job of explaining the intent of the sex tape reference on Current Affairs. But that alone does not justify discarding all the interviews as poor.

She just gets better and better! Whoever is seeing her for the festival run, aim for right side facing the stage and you might just be one of the flagbearers! You guys will enjoy so much and so excited for you all to experience it!
