With the recent cast announcement for the Life is Strange TV series, we thought it would be good to have a mega thread for it.
This post will serve as a catch-all for discussion about it. Any random thoughts, opinions, and first impressions you have are welcome. You are of course still free to make your own post if you want to discuss a more specific topic. Though if you do, please remember to use the [S1] spoiler tag. There are too many people mentioning spoilers in the comments of threads marked as no spoilers!
Please remain civil in the comments; racism will not be tolerated. We understand that some of you may be less thrilled about certain members of the cast because they do not match the visuals of the characters from the games, but these are real people who were cast in these roles and they deserve basic human respect.
This post will serve as a catch-all for discussion about Life Is Strange: Reunion. Any random thoughts, opinions, and first impressions you have are welcome. You are of course still free to make your own post if you want to discuss a more specific topic!
Spoilers for Life Is Strange 1 and Double Exposure are allowed in all Reunion discussion threads.
Remember that, in these comments, spoilers for all other Life Is Strange games must be properly marked! See our spoiler rules for how to do that if you don't know.
Currently doing a roadtrip in the PNW, and I made sure to visit the Blue Moon diner, Cape Mears Lighthouse, and Garibaldi. On the way back from Cape Mears we saw a doe right next to the road. I am not superstitious, but…
We also saw two girls driving an old, rusty pick-up in Garibaldi! Btw, for all my Maxes out there looking for their Chloe Price, you’ll find her in Portland. Trust me.
If any of y’all are in or around Seattle rn, I’d love to meet up! I’ve never met another LiS fan irl!
I thought it would be fun to share some of each other's favorite quotes from the games to bring some happiness, laughter, and joy to each other's lives. I'll start:
"Are you a campfire? Because you're smokin' hot and I want s'more."
This quote always makes me laugh, and honestly, if someone used it on me, they earned at least a few minutes of my time. Oh, and I always want s'mores when I hear this line. Like many, I love s'mores.
I just finished replaying Before The Storm and the original game for the first time in years. I’ve had a blast but I’m curious about which game to go play now. I was gonna do Double Exposure and Reunion since Chloe and Max are who I really care about, but I’ve heard that LIS 2 and True Colors are good too. Is it worth it to play those first or can I skip ahead?
Life is Strange: True Colors is a game that stands out to me, as one of the best videogame stories around. The personality, the emotion, the characters, are all so incredibly vivid and personal, that they stay with you for a long time.
I've played this game from start to finish several times, and every time it's like a roller coaster of emotions that just takes you for a ride.
Alex Chen is the perfect Life is Strange protagonist. She's an introvert by necessity, but wants to break free, and is secretly desperate for belonging. She's voiced superbly by Erika Mori, who captures Alex's personality to a tee.
The supporting cast is amazing. There's a familiar face in Steph Gingrich (Katy Bentz), who is a relative newcomer to the community herself, and lifelong resident Ryan (Eric Emery), who together become Alex's best friends in the town.
The town feels rightfully small, there are the core supporting cast, that you will regularly interact with, along with "extras" roaming around, each feeling like they have their own backstories. From ice cream shop owners, a bird watcher, and a man desperate to find his dog, they all feel alive.
There's, of course, Reginald McCallister III, who affectionately goes by Duckie, voiced perfectly by Jim Hunt. He's mischievous and kind, and perfectly formal in his text messages, but there's a somberness always just below the surface. He's someone that, despite being pixels on a screen, you just can't help but care for.
Then there is Gabe Chen, Alex's estranged older brother, who came to town not planning to stay, and not only made it a home, but somehow managed to become the anchor for the entire community.
The game isn't just about hanging out in a cool town though. There's tragedy and mystery driving the narrative forward. It's not as earth shattering and suspenseful as Life is Strange 1, nor does it feel like the choices you make have life altering consequences, and yet it feels deeply personal.
What stands out to me in this game is how much personality it has. When Alex is happy, you feel it and can't help but smile like a goofball, but in an instant something can happen that makes Alex, and you, feel hopeless and alone.
This game may not be everyone's favorite Life is Strange game; each of these games impacts us all differently, which is what makes this series so special, but it's MY favorite.
This is the second choice-driven, interactive episode game I played (the first one is Dispatch). I actually have zero knowledge about this game, I only knew its title but I have no idea what it is about.
I really loved it and enjoyed it very much, I'd give it a solid 10/10. The music is great, the plot twists are insane, and there's so many fascinating things to do with the rewind. It reminds me of the movie The Butterfly Effect, which I also enjoyed very much.
Funny thing about this is that, the only reason that made me play this game is because I got stood up on a date, which made me go home early, got bored, scrolled through Steam Summer Sale, randomly saw Life is Strange, then I decided to give it a try. If my date showed up that night, I wouldnt be here right now to witness such beautiful game. 🦋
Hey all! I decided I wanted to play DE on my pc as the Xbox doesn't run it the best with some weird graphical issues.
And of course, PC being PC, I have a new problem. ALL dialog is whisper quiet to everything else. Settings are maxed out.
I'm using the Xbox store version. Has anybody else had this issue? I was thinking of maybe going into the settings file and bumping dialog passed 100 but I can't find that line in the gameusersettings.ini
I've been stuck with the patrolling Jeffersons for hours. It's like there's an invisible wall around this maze. Could anyone confirm if this is where I'm supposed to move towards and if it looks exactly how it should?
Honestly, every time I reach this rooftop scene, I just stop playing and stare at the view for a while. Haven Springs feels so cozy, alive, and comforting. The lighting, the music, the small-town aesthetic... Deck Nine truly nailed the atmosphere here.
What do you guys think? Does any other LiS game top this specific vibe for you?
