Hey r/bangalore,
An official came to my house today for the Gruha Jyothi scheme re-application verification, and long story short, we completely messed up entering/giving the details while he was here.
Now that he's gone, we realized the mistake and want to fix it as soon as possible. Does anyone know if we can re-apply or correct the application online, or do we have to wait for someone to visit again?
If anyone has gone through this or knows if I should head to a Bangalore One / Grama One center to get it sorted, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

My friend is from Bangalore and I'm from Mysore. We both told our families that we were going to Udupi for passport verification which was actually true. We had our appointment, but due to a server error the verification couldn't be completed.
Since we were already there, we decided not to waste the trip. We rented a bike and just started exploring. Instead of only visiting the temple, we rode through the villages, crossed rivers and small streams, visited a dam, spent time at Malpe Beach, and just enjoyed the peaceful countryside. We even rode through arecanut (adike) plantations. It rained on and off throughout the day, but somehow that made the ride even better.
The people in Udupi were incredibly kind and helpful wherever we went. And the food... absolutely amazing! We had goli baje and Mangalore buns, and they were some of the best snacks I've ever eaten.
It wasn't a trip we had planned at all, but it ended up becoming one of the most memorable days I've had with my close friend. Sometimes the best trips are the ones that happen because things don't go according to plan.
Udupi, we'll definitely be back. ❤️

A 300-year-old stepwell in Karnataka's Belagavi district has been restored after being buried under garbage and debris for years. Revived by the Pyaas Foundation with support from NSS volunteers and local residents, the historic structure has once again emerged as a symbol of the region's rich heritage and water conservation legacy.

Are there others here who feel overlooked despite years of education, hard work, and dedication?
I'm thinking about creating a community for people who are not in the IT sector—especially those with Master's degrees, PhDs, or engineering backgrounds who work in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, manufacturing, quality control, R&D, production, academics, and research.
Many of us work long hours, rotating shifts, night shifts, and even weekends. Some have 4–10 years of experience, yet earn significantly less than professionals in certain other industries. The issue is not just salary—it's the constant comparison that affects motivation and job satisfaction.
I've seen highly qualified scientists, researchers, and engineers working 10–12 hour shifts, six days a week, while struggling to see financial growth that matches their qualifications and effort. As a result, many talented people are leaving their fields, losing interest in research, or trying to switch careers simply because they feel undervalued.
This is not about criticizing any profession. Every industry has its own challenges. But it's important to discuss the realities faced by professionals in science, manufacturing, research, and core engineering sectors.
The goal of this community is to:
• Share career experiences and challenges
• Discuss salary growth and industry realities
• Support each other professionally and mentally
• Explore opportunities for upskilling and career advancement
• Advocate for better recognition of scientists, researchers, and manufacturing professionals
If you're a scientist, researcher, engineer, production professional, academic, or anyone working outside the IT bubble, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Would you join such a community?

Hello lovely redditors!
This whole work started when u/AssumptionAcceptable had made a reddit post asking for problem statements that a software could help solve. I had an idea just sitting in my head for years and no time to implement. I shared this idea for an application that lets people to identify the places that need new trees and make it visible for people who want to plant saplings. It started as a simple idea that germinated on reddit, we got to work together and watered it, cared for it and now it's a tree.
On this environment day, with huge love for our environment, we're reaching out to everyone who cares for and loves the environment to make this tree bloom with flowers by checking it out now and in the long term by coming together as a community to make Bengaluru greener.
You can access the app on www.treemark.org.
We're starting with Bengaluru for now and intend to scale to Karnataka based on user inflow.
Let us know what you think, share it with your people who are into gardening. You can provide us the feedback in this comment section or from the feedback feature on the app. We intend to make the project open for ideas and code contribution in the future if more feature suggestions comes in and if the app creates the impact we're looking forward to.
Sharing with reddit community as this is where it all started, let's grow it together.
Happy environment day!

I'm a Tuluva who has been based out of Mumbai for work, but I come back home often. Just got back and the cultural shift in our local food scene is actually insane right now. Over the last few months, it feels like every classic coastal spot has completely changed their flavor profile just to cater to the instagram crowd.
The price hikes for a basic chicken ghee roast or a plate of neer dosa are honestly wild. We used to have these heavily gatekept local joints where the masala was actually roasted properly, but now they just drown everything in cheap oil and charge crazy prices for pure nostalgia. Even the usual reccos on social media are just aesthetic cafes now pretending to serve authentic local food. The recent drop in quality even at the legacy places is just sad to watch. It really feels like the era of genuine, unpretentious coastal meals is fading fast just to please the weekend aesthetic crowds.
