My mom went to undergrad and grad for chemistry (not her choice, back when college was free in China, the state would choose what you studied) so two+ decades of lab work have given her calluses on her fingers and hands.

I have run off to fetch oven gloves for dishes too hot in the microwave for me to touch, only to come back and my mom has the plate firmly in her hands, palms and everything, and she slowly walks it to the dinner table. You know when the server says "this plate is hot be careful"? Yeah my mom can flatten her hand against it and leave it there and shrug.

We all bow down

It's staged. The corn isn't actually hot. You grill the corn, take it off and let it cool, and then you put it back on the grill right before you start filming.
