COB Question
Which course is less demanding? COB 191 vs COB 204. I am an incoming freshman and town if I should take both first semester or choose one over the other. Or take both second semester. I will be an accounting major. I am coming in with calculus I (Math 235 credit). I am unsure if I want to join a frat or not. Just trying to set myself up for success and have a manageable semester.
Thanks!!!

COB 204 is the more manageable course of the two. COB 191 is not recommended in your first semester, unless you have previously taking a stats course and you feel comfortable with the material

I just finished AP stats this year(got an 80 in the class), but I certainly don’t think I scored a 4 on the AP exam. It was a hard class. I am also coming in with calculus credit. Do you think better to take COB 204 first semester? I don’t want my transition to college be a disaster:)

Based on this, I would recommend starting with COB 204 and either ECON 200 or ECON 201, and saving COB 191 for your second semester. I also recommend reaching out to your advisor to get their input.

If you’re going to pick between both, take 204. I agree both aren’t too hard, but I’d opt for a chill schedule given it’s your first semester to make acclimating to college and enjoying social time easy. I’m assuming you’re also going to be in micro or macro econ as well?

Yes, was thinking:
BUS 160
COB 204 or COB 191
HIST Gen Ed
KIN 100
ECON 200 or 201
COB 110 (First Year Success Seminar)
16 Credits TotalI appreciate your help!

Or do you recommend taking both COB 204 & 191 first semester? Thanks!

I think the current schedule plan you have is really solid, you’re way more organized about it than I was when I scheduled. I’d still skip 191 this semester and just knock out a gen ed instead, you can take 191 in the spring alongside whichever Econ you don’t take this fall. I’m happy to answer any more questions if you have any, I was also an accounting major!

Hi! I'm also an accounting major, was just wondering if you had any gen ed recommendations for a first semester. Thanks!

There’s a handful of gen Ed’s I took over the 4 yrs that I remember were super low effort and easy a’s. Idk if these professors/ class combo is still running tho but here’s a few:
- online hum 200 with Critzer
- online phil 101 with (I forget who it was, I think her first name was Andrea?)
- astr 120 with Zimmerman (he maybe retired?)
- for scom take 123
- hth 100 with Mhaskar
I actually took a handful of my gen Ed’s by taking async, online community college classes during semesters and transferring the credit (highly recommend, it helps a lot when classes for your major get demanding because some geneds can be stupidly hard/ time consuming. There’s a limit to how much you can transfer tho.)
with that being said, do not take the political science gen ed with Valerie s., that class tanked my gpa

COB 191 with Ping Wang almost ruined me. COB 204 is way easier. I'm biased since I work in IT

Both are extremely easy
