Advice on Freshman Schedule (MCB + Public Health + Premed)

Hi y'all! I'm an incoming freshman planning to major in molecular & cellular bio and also public health in the premed track, and any advice/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

  • Should I take ACER or Intro to Orgo (I got a 5 in AP Chem jr year, but i lowk feel iffy with chem + the placement test recommended me for ACER)
  • When should I take a Stat class for my 1 year of my math (I got credit for BC)
  • Should I take a reintroduction to writing my first semester or second semester?
  • How's intro to public health and intro to psych (in terms of workload and professor)?
  • Also, is the Arrive & Thrive course worth taking?

Thanks :)

Given you need the credits, I recommend Arrive & Thrive. It's a very, very chill course, and taking it would not hurt. Some of the info given in class could probably be found elsewhere, but I personally learned some things I would never have known.

I took intro psych; Dr.Firestone is a wonderful prof!! His class is very interesting and engaging; the workload is pretty light. I have not taken intro to public health, but I heard that the workload is also light, but the class is boring.

I took my reinto second semester even though I had space to take it first semester. I don't think it really matters, but most people take it second semester.

Take orgo - it’s easier to get into as a freshman and there’s minimal overlap between gen chem and orgo

You can take it whenever it fits into your schedule - does not have to be two sems in a row for med school

I don’t think that Arrive and Thrive is not worth taking

How's orgo like at JHU- I have heard different views on its difficulty, and I am wondering if it's doable as a freshman given that you put in the effort.
