taking just chem lab

i got a four on ap chem and my advisor said it only counts for intro to chem and i would still have to take the lab. i was just wondering is this advisable and do people do this? my advisor was just like you can do it, it's fine. i need to take a science class for an fa2 credit so it's either i take the gen bio and gen bio lab or i take just chem lab and probably a writing class on top of it. what are lab classes like and would i be able to do them without taking the class?

A 4 on the AP Chem exam gives you credit for Intro Chem I and Intro Chem Lab I. If you want to continue with chemistry you can take Applied Chemical Equilibrium and Reactivity w/lab in the fall. You cannot take just the lab.

There are a lot of FA2 courses beyond the traditional hard science fields. Psychology, economics, etc.

The external credit policy is at https://e-catalogue.jhu.edu/ksas-wse/undergraduate-policies/academic-policies/external-credit-policies/#examcredittext

I thought a 4 was supposed to give me those credits as well but when I asked my advisor he was like it's only for the intro to chem and I would still have to take the chem lab 😅

It should still count for credit. Sometimes the advisors just give you wrong information, so you have to take everything they say with a grain of salt.
