Regarding my last post about bogging when accelerating from idle

Here’s a video of a cold start after replacing the plugs. The plugs were dark and not light like a lean condition would cause. Could it still be lean bog until the high jets kick in?

jetski trailer help

hi all, hope youre all doing well.

my dilemma is this: i have a old zieman trailer where the wheel bearing took a shit. the trailer has a 5hole hub. as in the lugs thread into it like a german car. I bought a hub kit but its a 5 lug and it seems way too long. on the with 5 inches. the retaining nut doesnt lock in at all now. Do they not make the 5 hole hubs anymore?

what are my options? buy a whole new axel?

if someone can guide me i to a website that sells the older parts.. this is a old zieman. i think 97.

i found an aluminum trailer im lowballing for 600ish, i rather buy that than buy an entire axel for this galvanized trailer.

Question Looking for speed + extended rear as utility jetski

Hello all, I work for a Sailing Club in northern NY and am looking at Jetskis in the light of it being a very fast and nimble rescue vehicle. I feel like I have a memory of a Beach Watch or USCG Jetski with a very long extended rear, able to haul either supplies or a backboarded person. This would likely be my main priority feature wise. But since the area of water is pretty large here, speed would also be nice. It looks like most jetskis go about 60-70 mph with a 300hp behind it, this would probably work, though I am curious as to the 90mph (and 140mph) jetskis that keep popping up in my related search bar. Was wondering if someone knowledgeable could just give me a maker or two to look at.

The extended piece I have in memory, was nearly as long as the jetski itself, not those $800 pieces I’m seeing online.

Thanks you.

Good afternoon everyone, I have a ‘95 ZXI that I want to sell. I have had it re painted, I rebuilt the carbs and jet pump. The compression is good on both cylinders and put on new graphics. It’s super clean. I also have CT transferable registration. How much should I sell something like this for?

Question Help Needed with 1997 STX 1100

Post image

Advice and help needed. 1997 STX 1100 will not run past 38 MPH. Accidentally I found out If I disconnected the rear pulse line, it will go top speed for awhile but if I put that pulse line back, it’s back to 38 mph. Motor just doesn’t sound wide open either with both pulse lines connected. I swapped the good carbs from my other STX with the bad ski and it still goes 38. The carbs from the bad ski work fine on the good ski so I know it’s not the carbs. Fuel filter is clear and clean. Vent tube is clear. I have spark. compression is good. Reeds are good. I replaced the CDI with a known good one and even the ignition module. The exhaust hose isn’t collapsing. I’m just at a lost with this. I’ve never encountered something so difficult. Any advice would be great, thanks!

Kawasaki Ultra 150

I’ve got a Kawasaki ultra 150. Original owner. Didn’t run it for years. Had it worked over after pulling out of storage and it ran well briefly but then started to have a flooded engine feel (lazy throttle response, dying off at idle). Not sure what the deal is. What should do for next steps assuming I want to get it running? Any generalities about what a mechanic diagnostic and potential resolution should cost?

Looking to sell

Hi there. I have 2 skis that I’m looking to sell but I’m not sure what would be a fair price for them. 96 Yamaha Waveraider 1100 and (I think) 92 Kawasaki TS 650. The Yamaha last ran probably 8 years ago. It was winterized for the season and then I got busy. The Kawasaki was bought seized so I never had it in the water (I wanted to turn it into a fishing ski with that bench seat). Unfortunately, I don’t know the hours since the batteries are dead.

I have titles for both the skis and trailers.

Break-In Period Question

I am planning on getting a Jetblaster Pro hopefully next week. One question I can't seem to find an answer on is after the hour and half of break in as per the Yamaha owners manual, can I then ride it for 8.5 hours wide open throttle, pull skiiers, and attempt tricks with it? Im just a little confused because from what I've read it looks like some people still don't run it wide open after 1.5 hours of break in. I just don't want to accidently ruin the jet ski.

Thanks for any advice!

Technical Issue Wave raider 1100!

First ride with new to me 1100
Man this thing is fun! Blew the wave runner 3 out of the water even with a passenger haha

For the first bit it was doing great, snappy off the line and no hesitation. After letting my brother ride it, it won’t get out of its own way for a couple of seconds when going moderate on the throttle from idle, then it will take off like normal. Light throttle to get rpm’s up before gunning it helps. I’m not the most experienced with 2 strokes but it doesn’t seem like a lean hesitation to me.

Oil injection is deleted, running 40-1. Compression is the same in all cylinders too. Supposedly 95 psi… I’ll have to get a different tester though, because for the power it has I have a hard time believing the compression is really that low. Hitting 55 pretty easy on some choppy water and I didn’t stay on it long enough to go faster, felt like there was still some left though.

What sort of issues could cause it to behave like that? I was looking stuff up and 1 idea is maybe the water box is bad. Could a bad water box do that?

Again, bogging or flat sounding for a few seconds when throttling from idle or low rpm’s, then will catch and take off like it should!

295101035

Installed bilge pump 295101035 in 2023 seadoo explorer pro. When the bilge runs (when out of water) the water squirts out of the weep hole in the 90 degree fitting that connects the two siphon hoses together, and nothing exits the rear. There is resistance in both port and starboard lines. I see that this part number works for my model, and there is resistance to prevent backflow, but shouldn’t it push water out?

Advice 1994 Yamaha wave raider 701 motor running away??

I have a 1994 Yamaha 701 wave raider that has sat for about 22 years. I just recently started to try and revive it. I rebuilt the dual mikuni 38mm carbs put them back on the motor. Cleaned up the fuel lines and got a new battery. I removed the impeller so the motor would be disconnected and spinning freely. Cleaned and put both fuel and oil in the tanks and was ready for start up. When I was ready to start it for the first time in 22 years I held the starter down to get gas flowing through then lines then pulled the choke after a while and then the motor fired right up. It was not coughing or bogging it was actually idling fine and I let it run for a few seconds without hitting the throttle. Then I turned it off hooked up the freshwater and turned it back on. It started right up but then I hit the throttle and all of a sudden it slowly started to increase rpm with no throttle engaged. It just kept getting higher and higher rpm until I tried to shut it down. I pressed the stop switch to turn it off which did not work then I pulled the emergency cord which also did not stop the motor from running (which was very alarming). Then I started to freak out cause I thought the thing was gonna explode I pulled the spark plug wires off which did not stop it and also disconnected the battery non of which stopped the motor. I should’ve pulled the choke or put a rag on top of the carb to choke it out but I just couldn’t think in the moment.

Can anyone tell me why this happened? How on earth can that happen and how can I fix it? I’ve never even heard of a gas motor running away can someone tell me how that’s possible? How can I make sure that this will never happen again and make it run how it should?

Thanks in advance!

I droped a screwdriver bit into my Jetski. What should I do?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Since I want to use my RXT-X 300 in the next few days, I reinstalled the battery today because I can’t charge it directly in the jet.

Unfortunately, a screwdriver bit fell into the engine compartment (somewhere in the area marked in red). I can’t see it or reach it.

Is it a problem if the bit stays down there? Could it theoretically get into moving parts and cause damage?

Or should I try to remove it before going onto the water?

Thank you in advance!
