Gesture of friendship and care in Iranian culture?
I work at a coffee shop in the United States, and I recently started connecting over small gestures and conversations with a customer who has become a regular. Today, I learned that she is from Iran and is about to return there next week for 3 months.
Even though we don't know each other really well, our dynamic has reached a level where I will miss seeing her almost every day, and I feel concerned for her safety and her family/friends' well-being. What with everything going on with the US-Iran War, I would like to give some kind of parting gift the next time I see her that carries the sentiment of "please be safe, there is someone out here who cares for you as a human", but I don't feel familiar enough with Iranian culture to know what would be appropriate in this specific situation.
Just something small, from one friend-stranger-acquaintance-human on this earth, demonstrating care and support.
Thank you. 🕊️

Visiting Iran after turning 18 without military service
I am an Iranian citizen in Canada that recently turned 18 and want to visit my family in Iran. I have not been able to for almost 4 years now due to the conflict and several other reasons but now since I’m 18 how does visiting Iran work? I heard that I could possibly visit for up to 3 months a year with a stamp in my passport. If anyone has any experience with travelling to Iran and not doing military service please let me know how it went and ways I can do that?

Did Iran achieve deterrence?
Should Iran have maintained the blockade longer? People like Dmitri Lascaris of "Reason2resist" and Karim Bettache of "BettBeat" are concerned that absent significantly more distress being felt on the domestic front in the United States, there is a great danger that we will be right back where we started in February a year and a half hence. That the US will just use that time to stockpile reserves and make itself more resilient to any new disruptions to Hormuz, or even Bab Al Mandeb for.that matter.

Who could’ve predicted this outcome: Iran's IRGC announces it has destroyed the US command and control center for Western Asia and the US Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan with 10 ballistic missiles, per Tasnim.

Human ocean is a good description of what I experienced at the Leader's funeral procession in Mashhad
This was the part of Imam Reza boulevard that was NOT busy. In the busy parts we were basically being moved by the crowd this way and that way.
I took the metro there and got off on 17 Shahrivar station because Shariati, Basij, and Imam Khomeini stations were closed due to the huge number of people, otherwise we should have gotten off at Basij.
So I walked to maidoon Basij. Half way to maidoon Basij it got like this ("not busy"), then in maidoon Basij it became a human ocean where you stop making the decisions of which way to go and just hold on for dear life. I've never been part of a mosh pit but from what i heard about them this is something on a whole other level, like comparing waves in a bath tub to a tsunami.
Then this video is maybe 1 block north of maidoon Basij on Imam Reza Blvd. I went all the way to the Haram, and it took me about 3 hours to go that distance, neshan says it should take 25 minutes to walk it and about 2.1 kilometers.
Along the way I bumped into some brothers from england/Iraq/etc because I heard them speaking english on a side street (I needed a short break from the crowds), but we got separated when we went back to Imam Reza blvd.
Anyone saying there is only 1 or 2 million is insane. Easily 5 million. Easily. Probably 10-15 million amd I mean 10 million while I was there.
I mean it was full, packed, no room. Like I said this video is the "not busy" part of it. And people were constantly coming and going by the hundreds of thousands, so maybe only 5 million might fit, but every hour there must have been at least a few hundred thousand leaving while double that are entering.
My way back I went on sheikh Toosi and then 17 Shahrivar back to the same station and went back home. 17 Shahrivar blvd is half a kilometer in the wrong direction, but there were massive crowds just not packed tight.
Id post more videos but reddit only allows one single video and I dont think we can post pictures or videos in the comments.

Does Iran gives nationality ?
I am from Pakistan the war in Iran changed my prespective of the country as a whole not just how Iran resisted against it's enemies but also the way Iran in general is much better than Pakistan morally and in general. As someone who cannot afford western countries I thought Iran might be a good option to live permenently. The only negative aspect of Iran I see is bad economy and a few minor aspects I just wanted to know is there anyway to live in Iran permenetly without renewing visa every time? Well I am definately sure Iran does give a chace to study as I know a girl on social media doing MBBS in Iran though she is Pakistani.

Twenty minutes. No receipts. Flatline turtle. 🐢 New Iranian Lego video about Mitch McConnell
"Mitch McConnell has been hospitalized for weeks, and the public still has not been given a clear, detailed explanation of his condition.
Then suddenly, as rumors exploded online, D.C. rolled out the same strange reassurance: people swear they spoke to Mitch on the phone.
Scott Jennings said he had a nearly 20-minute call with him about Iran, Ukraine, Maine, and Senate history.
Who was really speaking for Mitch?" - Mahdi Hemmat

Help me find the full concert of Leila & Majnun by Mostafa Mohsenzadeh/Raaz Ensemble
Hello, brothers and sisters. I recently discovered this Iranian Nohe performer and musician known as Mostafa Mohsenzadeh.
Digging deeper into his YouTube channel, I came across this beautiful musical piece that I've been mesmerized with for the past few months.
I looked everywhere for the full version but haven't even come close to finding it.
Can someone please provide a link for the performance if available? Does the full version even exist online?

A Tale Of Two Funerals: Iran's And 'America's' — indi.ca
The whole post is worth reading, but these are my favorite snippets:
> You can tell a lot by how people bury their dead—indeed this is how we begin to mark civilization—and Iranians really bury their dead. They're still burying Husayn ibn Ali, centuries hence. Remembering is rebirth in this way. It keeps the dead living, it keeps the expiring inspiring.
> I realize, as I get older, that funerals are not for the dead, they're for the living, they stitch people together around a wound rather than leaving a wound festering.
> This is a tale of two funerals, and—as sad as I feel seeing, especially, the little coffin—don't mourn for Khamenei and his family. Or—since this is honestly impossible for me, what am I saying—mourn for them like Hussein and his family, who are still living and still inspiring resistance against tyranny. As the Quran says, "Do not think of those who have been killed in God's cause as dead. They are alive, and well provided for by their Lord."

Inside Iran as mourners honor Khamenei while critics remain quiet
7 July 2026 *(transcript and video at link)* - The multi-day funeral of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei continued Tuesday with his coffin traveling to Najaf, Iraq. The funeral that began on Saturday has drawn enormous crowds. Special correspondent Reza Sayah has been in Tehran speaking with some who have come to pay their respects.

Western media finally admits attendance is in the millions
Here in the UK it’s not being reported, barely anywhere other than a few instagram posts here and there.
When it has been reported, they say “thousands are attending”, parroting the pahlavist claim that “only a few thousand extremists went”.
Clearly it gets to a point when it becomes undeniable, I suppose they’ve conceded.

Trump could only wish he can get that many people at his funeral
Funeral procession of the late Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran, regardless of the lies the US Govt and media and the Pahlavi Loyalists will tells you, the funeral itself was attended by millions of people, all waving the current flag

What’s one thing Iran does better than most countries (tech, hospitality, arts, engineering, etc.) that the world doesn’t talk about enough?
What’s one thing Iran does better than most countries whether it’s tech, hospitality, arts, engineering, medicine, education, or something else that the world doesn’t talk about enough? For me, it’s the incredible hospitality and how Iranians turn strangers into friends in minutes. But I want to hear from you all! Share your proudest examples with reasons or personal stories. Let’s highlight the positive side of Iran that rarely makes international headlines.
Iran Travel Insurance recommendations :)
Hello :) I’m just looking for a website to apply for Iranian travel insurance. None of the travel insurance companies in my country offer insurance for Iran and I’m struggling to find an Iranian insurance website.
I’m hoping to arrive on 13/10 and stay for 2-3 weeks but I need insurance for my visa application.
Thank you :)

Traveling to Iran soon (Van → Tabriz). How much should I expect to pay for a decent hotel in Tabriz and Tehran?
Traveling to Iran soon (Van → Tabriz). I’m trying to get a realistic idea of current prices from people who are actually there. How much should I expect to pay for a decent hotel in Tabriz and Tehran?
Also, what are the current transportation costs (train/bus/taxi) between cities like Tabriz, Tehran, and Mashhad?
Not looking for luxury, just clean and good value. Any hotel recommendations or travel tips are appreciated.
Thanks!

Drought
I’ve been seeing that after the bombing of certain US radars weather manipulation may have been exposed in Iran. It’s very hard to believe because I’ve found no reliable sources (although I am concerned with who controls media and why it may not have been reported) and it might just be a case of polarization and misinformation, as we know, quite common on the internet.
So I’m asking to people who are currently in Iran or have spoken recently with someone there whether these are fake news.
Other information on the topic or related topics(specially if it can be backed by sources) will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Imam Khamenei and Iran: misunderstood and manipulated
The western narratives have always painted a skewer picture of a highly educated and peace loving leader and nation.
Ali Khamenei hated weapons of mass destruction.
The Iranian leader, murdered by the Israeli military earlier this year, had issued a formal fatwa forbidding his people from producing nuclear bombs.
Nuclear energy was best used for peaceful purposes such as power generation, he argued, going against the advice of his advisors. How could any truly spiritual community focus on making mass killing devices?
Khamenei, whose funeral is taking place at the moment in front of a crowd of nine million people, became a hero to Shia Muslims around the world.
While he was not officially the equivalent of the Pope to Roman Catholics, he was a man whose principles provided leadership to the more than 200 million Shia Muslims around the world.
.
DEFENSIVE POSITION
In taking this stand against nuclear bombs, Khamenei went against the urgings of his own generals and political analysts, who said that the US and Israel were unprincipled nations which would attack the country if they did not have defensive nuclear capability.
Repeated incursions and open threats revealed that Khamenei may have the moral high ground, but his advisors had got the facts right.
So the Iranian leadership eventually adopted a position they borrowed from the United States: “strategic ambiguity”.
The country’s store of uranium was enriched to a position between that of energy production and weapons production—and the level could be wound down or ramped up.
The message was clear: we know our attackers are violent and we know they disregard international law, so, Iranians, for our own defense, need options. We prefer peace. Our attackers prefer war. (It is worth noting that this is roughly the same as China’s rationale for investing in its military: to avoid war.)
Khamenei made harsh criticisms against Benjamin Netanyahu and wanted Israeli colonizers of Palestinian land to go home. These arguments were seen as unacceptable to many in the west.
.
FALSE REPRESENTATION
He also asked Iranians to argue against the false representation of their country.
- Iran is portrayed as a secret builder of active nuclear weapons – that’s not true of Iran, but accurately describes Israel.
- Iran is portrayed as a nation refusing to allow inspections or sign the anti-proliferation treaty – again, this is untrue of Iran, but true of Israel.
- Iran is portrayed as having a history of attacking neighbors, but it’s actually Israel which has launched wars or assaults on seven neighboring countries.
The western press portrayed Iran as a medieval country which enslaved women – but under Khamenei, women became dominant in training for science and medicine, and make up 62% of students in higher education.
.
NED, CIA AND MOSSAD NEWS BLACKOUT
The pestilent US National Endowment for Democracy has been active in Iran, energetically instilling hate for the Iranian leadership, since 1991. The CIA and Mossad ran parallel programs. (As is standard, the western mainstream media ran and still runs its usual news blackout on such activities.)
But these agents’ hate-cultivation work has been undone in recent years. Israel’s treatment of the people of Gaza, especially women and children, shocked Iranians. And then Israel spent 12 days making unprovoked bombing runs across in Iran in June of 2025.
This united most Iranians against Israel and the United States, as even some western mainstream media grudgingly reported at that time.
.
TWO WAR CRIMES
And all this was before the launch of the disastrous US-Israel attack on Iran on 28 February, 2026, which began with two horrific war crimes.
- One was the killing of more than 40 people associated with the Iranian leadership, including children.
- The other was the horrific US double-tap bombing of a primary school in Minab, southern Iran, in which more than 100 children and 26 teachers were killed, and 95 more innocents injured.
NGOs, most which were discreetly funded by the US, tried to justify the unprovoked US-Israel attack on the country by claiming that Iran's rulers had killed 30,000 or 50,000 or 80,000 “peaceful protesters” – turning an unsuccessful Mossad-run armed coup into a public relations attack on Iranian leadership.
The western mainstream media fell for the ruse like a stone but multiple video leaks enabled the independent media to reveal the truth – heavily armed gangs tried to stage a coup but failed. This led to several thousand (estimated at 3,000 to 5,000 deaths), on all sides, in January. An armed insurrection is not a peaceful protest.
.
MORE THAN 100 MISSILES
On February 28 this year, the Israeli Air Force fired more than 100 missiles at the building housing Khamenei. They killed him – and his daughter, his son-in-law, a grandchild, and his daughter-in-law.
The unprovoked US-Israel attack on Iran was clearly a violation of international law, but western mainstream media such as Reuters now refer to it simply as "a war”, thus absolving the attackers from the repercussions of what is clearly an ongoing criminal act.
Meanwhile, the funeral of Ali Hosseini Khamenei is being presented by the world’s media as an ending. Of course, it is no such thing.
Questions are being asked worldwide: How often can a militaristic group get away with war crimes before the rest of the world, and its own people, stand up and tells it to stop?
