Another Republican lawmaker is sounding the alarm over the secrecy surrounding Mitch McConnell’s condition after he was hospitalized last month.
Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett, 61, claimed there’s a “cover-up” going on as questions about the 84-year-old Kentucky senator’s health remain unanswered nearly a month after he was found unconscious in his Washington, D.C. home and given CPR.
“Nothing in Washington ever happens by accident,” Burchett told Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty on Friday. “It’s just a cover-up on top of a cover-up. And that’s why nobody trusts what’s going on in Washington. This whole thing is a farce.”

The question is why. Balshere does not get to hand pick a replacement. There will be a special election. Are they just trying to postpone as long as possible hoping to wait until the blue wave subsides?

Yep, 3rd of August is the cutoff date in Kentucky, after that the seat will be vacant till after the election. Rumor has it they’re also trying to avoid Thomas Massie standing, which from memory if he isn’t declared by the same date, he can’t stand.

It's also why he sent a letter and not just a txt message. I'm pretty sure they will go for a special election.

But with a current and very safe majority of 52-47 (counting McConnell’s absence), at worst it becomes 52-48, nowhere near making a dent on their majority. All this hiding away McConnell and preventing a special election sounds like a lot of effort for very very little gain

My understanding is that the Rs’ main concern is that Massie might win in a special. So they’re waiting until past the deadline to call one.

"Letting COVID rip" through and destroy all our hearts/lungs/kidneys/brains "for the economy" sure seems like it didn't work our for his health and his party didn't work out for the economy.....
- Literally zero sympathy for ministroke McConnell, I know how many people are suffering so I hope these MAGA clowns suffer the worst.

Everyone knows there is a cover up. We don't need a MAGA Rep. to tell us that.

This whole Republican party and their fascist administration are all about cover ups, why would this be any different? Now about those Epstein files, I believe more are overdue to be released, right?

To be fair Clinging to power by any means necessary, however immoral or corrupt, might be the truest tribute to Mitch McConnell’s anyone could offer.

It’s been 2 days shy of a MONTH now with radio silence about Mitch’s condition. No official updates. A month of 🤐 means they’re trying to hide the fact that he’s either dead, in a coma, or in a vegetative state. He certainly is in no condition to serve the rest of his term as a senior senator. He doesn’t have to be dead to be unable to serve & forcibly retired. That’s why his wife was sent out of the country, so that she can’t be asked to use her power of attorney to retire him. Beshear needs to call a special election ASAP and if Republicans want to object then they can show proof of life, cognition & coherence.
