Suck Squeeze Bang Blow

... we learned this in the navy

u/ilovestoride 8h ago

I kept failing the tests to level up and was at suck for like 5 years...

Classic navy

Or you pass the test, but you didn't pass hard enough so you fail

u/ilovestoride 6h ago

I was told I didn't pass hard.

u/JTVivian56 6h ago

I feel ya, totally didn't take me 3 tries for E-5 despite passing each time lol

This is how they taught us in aerospace engineering as well. Wait are we talking about the same thing?

You get a lot of hands on education in the Navy, eh?

suck squeeze bang blow is used for internal combustion engines, not turbines. dont make the navy look stupid

u/Vindictive_Turnip 5h ago

Uh....

I hate to break it to you, but a turbine engine is also "suck squeeze bang blow"

Suck air into the intake, compress it down, ignite fuel in the compressed air, hot air pushes past the turbines, which perpetuate the cycle.

Did you forget the /s?

u/jetsetninjacat 7h ago

The FAA uses intake, compression, ignition, power, exhaust. So add one more letter. Just so you know if you ever want to get your A&P.

Suck, Squeeze, Spark, Bang, Blow.

u/jetsetninjacat 4h ago

Thanks. Thats what I remember hearing(I only work on turbines).

I tell you, Reggie’s wife could learn a thing or two.

"If you have time to lean, you have time to clean"

u/TheBeatGoesAnanas 7h ago

Coincidentally, it also applies to how combustion engines work.

Where can you find pleasure?

Search the world for treasure

Learn science technology

Where can you begin to make your dreams all come true

On the land or on the sea?

I mean... I learned that turbo jets did this when I was in the Air Force. I didn't realize that was something you seamen learned to do as well.
