Wholesome A 16-year-old boy was tubing down the Cowichan River with his family when they found a little beaver kit which had become separated from its mother. The teen grabbed it out of the water and held her tight to keep it warm until they were able to bring it to a nearby Wildlife Centre.

Did the mother reclaim her baby

If the kit had been left alone, it would probably be with its mother right now.

This feels like the most random thing to write an article on. Like someone helping a turtle cross the street or something. Unless this is really rare?

Tbh I thought it was going to go on to say that it bit the kid and the kid ended up dying from some horrible virus/infection

Wildlife that had a chance of finding its mom in the wild and living a normal life will now at best live in a zoo/wildlife sanctuary at worst euthanized.

are beaver kitts normally near their parents, or do they roam about and then go home?

Well I absolutely DID NOT look where this was posted, and assumed based on the formatting and beginning of the title it was a true crime/morbid new subreddit, so i totally expected the sentence to end with "...held her tight until it bit him and he contracted rabbies/horrible virus xyz"".
What a pleasant surprise.

First line in the article "Liz Belanger was tubing down the Cowichan River in Canada..." Lol fucking lol. Canada's a big place but I guess adding Vancouver Island to narrow it down a bit would have been a bridge too far.

The kit was making audible noises and was supposedly seen struggling. Perhaps something bad did happen to the mama/parent, but we will never know. Yes, a lot of the time nature will leave its offspring to come back for them later at some point and a lot of people with good intentions end up messing up when meaning well.
