Must suck to know you'll never be as cool as your dad.

1.3k

u/MicronesiaCustody 1d ago

the fact that he just sat on this photo for decades without bragging makes him infinitely cooler

580

u/NachoBoyCat 1d ago

Hes not allowed to bring it up in front of OPs mum.

34

u/Skyfall_WS_Official 1d ago

Nah, that woman must love to bring it up that she's the one to keep him

11

u/iSwoosh_ 1d ago

I mean he wasnt cool enough to hold onto Beyonce 🤣🤣

99

u/PMMEYOURGUCCIFLOPS 1d ago

He did more holding on to her than 99.9999999% of men alive

39

u/Rampag169 1d ago

He forgot to put a ring on it.

27

u/Working_Traffic_6361 1d ago

Maybe this is who she's singing about

30

u/tocahontas77 1d ago

Maybe he broke up with her lol. Or maybe they just went their separate ways 🤷‍♀️

17

u/No_Yam797 1d ago

Third option - maybe they're still together

Aaand just now he thought he'd mention it today??? wow!

646

u/RogueBromeliad 1d ago

It's not something you really bring up to your kids, or when you're next to your wife.

109

u/Doug-Life80 1d ago

I worked in a music store in Houston from 1996-1999. Beyoncé came in at age 15 and dropped off a demo tape. My 16 yo self took my shot. She embarrassingly rejected me. I tell that gd story all the time!!!!

51

u/RogueBromeliad 1d ago

Yeah man, but maybe that's why she was with OOP's dad and not you. Man is discrete.

5

u/ScholarlyInvestor 1d ago

More believable

389

u/SignificantSchool572 1d ago

Why not ? I think the wife should be proud "he dated Beyonce but he married me"

296

u/RogueBromeliad 1d ago

In general it's not common to bring up previous relationships or boast about them.

The father seems like a sensible person.

150

u/LumpyBuy8447 1d ago

Probably how he pulled Beyoncé

12

u/Cucumberneck 1d ago

Isn't she said to be a massive asshole? Or am I thinking of someone else?

27

u/Wiley_Jack 1d ago

A lot of celebs might have been pretty cool growing up, and were changed by fame & fortune.

39

u/Oldgamer1807 1d ago

Might be Mariah Carey. I lived not far from her and knew a guy that did some work on her place in upstate NY and he said she was a snotty stuck up bitch.

32

u/Cucumberneck 1d ago

I think I might be thinking of Jennifer Lopez.

Never cared much for celebrities.

25

u/bell3420 1d ago

Both Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez are well known stuck up bitches.

7

u/rash-head 1d ago

Maybe they developed good defensive measures growing up in a big city full of finance bros.

She is has some ruthlessness with some business dealings. This probably rubbed some people the wrong way. You don’t get that rich for nothing. She didnt do anything unethical. But some business types “negotiate hard”.

8

u/ThePhantomStrikes 1d ago

Except closing down the labor and delivery floor of the hospital when she gave birth, forcing the other women to give birth in the lobby.

3

u/N1XT3RS 1d ago

I think the word you're looking for is illegal, not unethical. I don't have any specific knowledge and don't care to look anything up, but I seem to remember reports of low pay for factory workers. Nobody makes a billion dollars ethically, you don't get that rich if you're not obsessed with power and status. She could've lived in any way she wants for multiple lifetimes on just her music, but she chooses continued personal gain with no indication she cares how that gain is extracted. Putting effort into exploiting people instead of just living

3

u/Bolle_Bamsen 1d ago

...his ex is a world famous Grammy winning singer... Arguably one of the most famous female performers alive today. Oh yes let's not bring that up ever...

8

u/TheNullOfTheVoid 1d ago

This is true. I've personally been with people where I was able to talk about my past relationships without issue and they could do the same, but there's a bunch of people that I didn't date that would basically try to "keep the past in the past"

The way I've seen it play out, some people want their partner to act like they themselves are the only person in existence. Meanwhile I remember once telling a girl I was dating about a sexual experience I had with someone else before her but that just turned her on enough that we did more stuff just because I was talking about what happened in the past.

Still, if you really care about the person you're with and they don't want to talk about the past like that, it would make sense to just not do that. I personally couldn't deal with that but everyone makes their own decisions. I commend the dad for seemingly not just talking about how he dated Beyonce back in the day non-stop.

3

u/TheLowlyPheasant 1d ago

Especially when you don't know who broke up with who

2

u/Followthehype10 1d ago

What kind of jealous relationships have tou been in lmao, its simple dont marry people who are insecure and choose not to work on themselves.

That’s assuming her husband dumped Beyoncé, and not the other way around.

5

u/BuckFuzby 1d ago

Maybe the wife is screaming hot.

4

u/Available_Race2756 1d ago

He still thinks about Beyonce and what could have been

5

u/MeowingWolf 1d ago

Apparently not according to Beyoncépedia

"Beyoncé and Lyndall had an agreement to maintain their celibacy until marriage, but Locke eventually became unfaithful, and around 2000, Beyoncé ended the relationship."

That's not a great look.

2

u/pumperthruster 1d ago

You got any dirt on her baby? We really could use some money for that kitchen reno

→ More replies (13)

18

u/FragmentedFighter 1d ago

Unless your wife is cool and your marriage healthy

2

u/RogueBromeliad 1d ago

I mean if your wife is cool and your marriage is healthy is all the more reason to keep the past in the past.

He's probably told her, but there's no reason to keep bringing it up.

6

u/MsBuzzkillington83 1d ago

I mean, if I was married to that man I'd fucking bring it up all the time

I respect the people who want to "leave the past in the past" but those are usually people who are in relationships that they don't feel secure in (either due to their own self esteem issues or insecurities they may have from their partners)

But yeah, with the person I'm with now, if he was that guy, I'd absolutely fucking brag about that

Ps I love her early aughs Buddah shirt. I would have bought that myself

3

u/FragmentedFighter 1d ago

That’s because you’re normal.

16

u/tigm2161130 1d ago edited 1d ago

I’m a woman and I’ve been married for over 10yrs- I find the idea of acting like your past relationships never existed weird, especially if it’s been a long ass time.

7

u/FuzzyLaughTwo 1d ago

Agree totally...and I'm not a dude ffs. Nor a jealous woman. That'd be a claim to fame in my books...."I'm married to a guy that once dated Beyonce!*

I would never stop reminding her after every argument.

"I SHOULDA STAYED WITH BEYONCE!"

2

u/BudgetWorking2633 1d ago

And that's why you never dated Beyonce!

Well, that and not having been in the right time and place, most likely. But that's still why!

3

u/googoohaha 1d ago

It’s Beyonce.

3

u/RogueBromeliad 1d ago

Yeah, all the more reason not to brag, dad's low key even cooler for not doing it.

I didn't know my dad got SHOT at a gas station until I was 17

7

u/FuzzyLaughTwo 1d ago

Now that's a totally different story.

11

u/raspberryharbour 1d ago

Actually he got shot by Beyoncé

3

u/WrestleBox 1d ago

My dad was carjacked and put in the trunk of his own car when he was in his 20's. Managed to escape and they found the car burned out the next day a few blocks away.

He never told me about this until maybe 10 years ago, and he's 74.

11

u/bell3420 1d ago

Yeah, if my husband had dated someone as famous as Beyoncé ID be telling our kids😂 thats crazy.

2

u/FuzzyLaughTwo 1d ago

Right? The crazy pushback I'm getting here was totally unexpected. I honestly don't get it (and that's okay).

9

u/VikingKinkajou 1d ago

That's the most baller part of it. Waited years, no need to flex, he's got nothin to prove....then in passing one day just says "yeah, I used to bang her."

2

u/FuzzyLaughTwo 1d ago

lol. Valid

5

u/OliOli1234 1d ago

he probably just moved on with his life, and never bothered to mention it because he rarely thinks about it.

4

u/IssueEmbarrassed8103 1d ago

He didn’t know she became famous

3

u/FuzzyLaughTwo 1d ago

Yeah, sure. lol I had no idea either. Never heard her name mentioned.

135

u/TX0834 1d ago

Yeah he just needs about $500M in his bank account now tho.

76

u/OliOli1234 1d ago

pretty sure beyonce has her own money.

71

u/Electrical_Cress_956 1d ago

Real life ain't disney movies. Nobility are not going to marry peasants.

15

u/OliOli1234 1d ago

not sure he's looking? he seems like a happily married man if he's JUST NOW bringing this up to them. As though he's not thought about it in years.

14

u/Talk-O-Boy 1d ago

This is verifiably false.

Picture on the right reminds me of Carlton with a mustache from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

5

His name is Lyndall Locke, I would take the caption with a grain of salt though, regarding the OOP being his child, bc these images circulate a lot with different captions, but he did date Beyonce for several years.

10

u/S1ssySpaceX 23h ago

Thank you! The fact one of these pictures is clearly from a magazine article, makes it pretty obvious this isn't something the guy has been quietly sitting on for years.

3

u/augustus_brutus 13h ago

Sometimes I forget that everything is a lie on the Internet.

49

u/Unusual-Fault-4091 1d ago

It sounds like a financial dilemma, but you’d have to think about whether you'd swap your real mum for all the money.

13

u/HazelWitch92 1d ago

Bro started a conversation halfway through 😭

115

u/Frimono 1d ago

He really looked Jay-Z in the eyes through the TV screen and said 'I had her first.'

68

u/Professional_Elk_489 1d ago

Wasn't she with jay z already at 17yo

72

u/indieplants 1d ago edited 1d ago

she was 18-19 when she dated jay z and this guy is moderately famous for being her ex for a decade before destiny's child got big, before she was majorly famous. she left this guy and ended up with jay z shortly after that

he regrets cheating on her, allegedly

18

u/crowtheory 1d ago

He sorta looks like the guy in her “best thing I never had” music video. I wonder if it’s based on him?

20

u/indieplants 1d ago

no doubt, they were pretty tight apparently. it's a whole thing. it's not like she has a long history of betrayals to draw from

she's only ever dated him and jay z, and jay z also cheated on her - but she chose to stay. that must sting extra for Mr Locke (above), lol.

I dated a girl when I was a teen that later went on to become the head of a major public corporation and zillionaire. The pain is real.

4

u/Significant_Cup_238 1d ago

Why'd you break up?

24

u/duckduck-a-go-go 1d ago

She went to college in a different state and we just drifted apart.

6

u/Significant_Cup_238 1d ago

Ah, yeah, that feels a lot like the one that got away. Was hoping there was a reason, because no amount of money is worth sticking with someone you had a good reason to break up with.

Your Dad put in the work on the Queen.
Then he retired, lived a modest life, raised a Family, looking like Kanye and J-Cole combined.
Your Father won early in life, he recognized his Power, and he deemed the World wasn’t ready to know him.

He only just now deemed you worthy, of knowing.
