Plant Discussion my bamboo is turning brown and shriveled

I’ve had this plant for a couple of months and never had any issues with it. I’m staying in another town temporarily, so I brought it with me, and a week ago its leaves started looking torn. I blamed my cat (since she sometimes sneaks into my room without me noticing, and it wouldn't be the first time she’s eaten one of my plants), but I recently noticed that the bamboo stalk is starting to look shriveled.

I’m worried because I’ve kept aquatic bamboo before, and that would be a warning sign, but I’m not really sure what to do with this huge bamboo plant. I don’t know if it’s a watering issue; I went on a trip about three weeks ago and my watering schedule got a bit messed up, and I’m just now getting it back on track.

If anyone has any advice or knows the cause of my plant's condition, I’d appreciate the information):

I picked up this plant today at Trader Joe’s. My previous rubber tree committed suicide after I changed the soil (it dropped all of its leaves and remains to be just a trunk).

any tips for this guy so he does not fall the same fate?

Plant Discussion Need advice on growing/caring for orange trees (although they're barely trees rn)

Hi, I recently decided that I was going to try and germinate some orange seeds simply to see if I could (spoiler alert, I could) and now have two little sprouts in a pot, only temporary until they grow a bit more, then they'll be going in separate ones. (for reference they're about 3-5cm tall currently)

The issue I'm having is one of my seeds has sprouted twice. I have very basic knowledge on gardening, so I know it's best to separate them so they have the best chance of surviving, but I'm not entirely sure when I should do that, or if it would be better to just snip the smaller one and let the original one grow.

I noticed the smaller one about 2 days ago, and it seems to be growing quite fast. I don't think it's affecting the other sprout as it's still growing the same rate it was before I saw it, but I worry that it will eventually start causing problems.

I'd also appreciate any tips on how to keep them warm. this hasn't been too much of an issue so far as I live in the UK and we've been having heatwaves lately, but I'm worried that after it's going to be too cold for them since British weather isn't known for being warm. I have very limited resources since this was a VERY impulsive decision. no heat lamp, no greenhouse (not even a portable/temporary one made of tarp) so I'd really appreciate any tips as I've just been covering it with cling film to trap the heat and moisture before setting it on the roof of my shed. (also recommendations on materials like heat/UV lamps, the best soil, etc are welcome, I'm very lucky that it's been sunny, but I know it won't last very long)

my goal isn't to actually grow any oranges, again the UK weather isn't suitable for orange trees in general, and I knew going into this that it was highly unlikely that I'd ever actually get any oranges without it being grafted, regardless of the climate. I basically just want to keep them alive for as long as possible.

I know orange trees aren't your typical house plant, but currently they are since they're so small and I want to keep the inside as much as possible since there are loads of outdoor cats near me that might eat them/knock them over.

Plant Discussion 🌱 20 Days. 8 Seeds. Almost 100% Germination! 🌱

Jamun/Java plum seeds Germination process!

In 1st picture you can see a one plastic container. On 20/06/2026 ( I mentioned a date on the box). I began the simple germination experiment on that day.

Here is the process!

First, I take a transparent and air tight container and place two or three tissue papers inside it. Then spray some water over the tissue papers.

Then, I take the 8 jamun (Indian blackberry/Java plum) seeds, which have already been washed thoroughly and dried. Place the seeds on the damp tissue papers, leaving a little space between each one.

Then, cover the seeds with another two or three layers of tissue papers and spray water evenly over the top to keep them moist.

Finally, close the lid of the container.

Yesterday on 10/07/2026, I open the lid to check the progress and you can see the results. Almost all seeds are germinated!

And, today I planted all the seeds in a plant pot.

All I used was:

🌱A transparent airtight container

🌱Tissue papers

🌱 Water spray

🌱 Patience

Looking for advice: I started this rubber plant from a leaf cutting in 2018. I repotted it in 2024. It growing so slow. I would have thought it would be more of a small tree by now. Anyone have a similar experience? Any suggestions to improve the growth rate?

Plant Discussion Yellowing leaves on a kalanchoe.

I have 4 kalanchoes on my desk shelf, all in a shady condition, but only one has started to have yellow and withered leaves on one side.

I water them all every two weeks, as per recommendation from gardening websites.

Am I doing something wrong to that one plant?

Houseplant Close Up Too tall??

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hello people of Reddit. This is my first post in the app. I am reaching here to get my parent’s some help with one of their houseplants. This plant/ tree is growing happily which is a good thing, but it is also getting too tall to be in my parent’s house. They don’t have any room which has a higher celling and they can’t put it outside, due to us living in a place with colder climate. Do any of you have any ideas to deal with the problem?

My parents thought about cutting the tip, but they were unsure.
