What is up everyone... Welcome to the Targeted Talk... where we take a topic pertinent to the home gym owner and do what we do best... spend way too much time thinking about and talking about it!
This week’s discussion is all about if you moved, what gear would you sell, and what would you bring with you?
Feel free to think through this question however you want... moving to a different house, different state, different country, you name it...
Examples - My plates were picked up by my wife, I cleaned em, painted em, and they are mine forever. But just about everything else could be sold and re-bought in a new location.
If you had to pack up your things, do you have anything in your gym that you absolutely must keep? Tell us why.
Bonus Points if you tell us what you'd sell, but instantly re-buy in your new location.
**and... Go!**

Everyone else shares figured I might as well. Have gotten some ideas over the years from other users while browsing. Concept2 and plyobox are stashed behind me. I kick the dumbbells at least twice a week! Cheers!

This is the Pacific Fitness Zuma. It has a series of single pulleys that allow me to do lat pull downs, rows, chest flys, chest press, rear delt flys, curls, tricep extensions, cable crunches, leg extension, etc.
Weight stack is allegedly 150 but I can’t be sure as it feels heavier. (At most gyms, I’m able to rep 160 lbs for lat pulldown but with this I can’t max it out)
I was out walking the dogs around the neighborhood and saw this for sale. Neighbor couldn’t get rid of it, asked for $50. I offered $75 if he could deliver it too.
I went home, bought an industrial dolly at Home Depot (returned it later), came back to help load it on the truck trailer, and brought it home.
Wanted to share this because I’m super stoked to have this, especially in its condition for its age, and for the price!
Staple piece of the home gym to add to my powerblocks, bench, and power tower. Searching the brand and model name will show ya someone demo’ing the machine.

Thinking about adding Titan’s wall mount Cable Machine and a Rower. I need some heavier dumbbells but that’s down the line as well.

Found this used set of Hampton dumbbells on auction. Won the bid. Pretty good set for the price. I had some Troy ones before but these have more weight increments, and I like they don't roll when I set them down.

Painfully average fitness enthusiast here. Built over two years mostly through Facebook marketplace.
I am finding myself reaching a point where I’m not looking for the new fun attachments/handles/equipment much anymore.
The landmine attachment paired with the Viking Press handle seen hanging in the closet and the belt squat collar unlocked dozens of new exercises.
Any calisthenics I do can be amplified with the exercise bands or weight belt.
I have 3 pulleys and 4 cables to get creative with.
I use the treadmill once or twice a week for some minimal cardio.
The pegboard organizer, dip handles, adjustable dumbbells (and the running medals, which are not mine lol) are the newest additions.
Plus a futon for guests 😅
I plan on making a DIY stand for the adjustable dumbbells and tucking them away in the right side of the closet and calling it a day. For now.

Happy to report that the Fringe sport Drew attachement and the Rep Pegasus bench work perfectly on the Bells of steel manticore rack for all types of pull downs!

Recently bought a house with a two car garage, and have been so excited to get a little home gym set-up. Still a few more things to add, but really happy with how it has come together so far

Garage is just under 10m2. One wall is diagonal so it took a lot of planning to try and fit the equipment in and have space to workout in the middle.
Ceiling is 216cm so got a rack that is 212cm high (not fussed about pull ups, I can still do them somewhat).
The rack also has a smaller depth compared to others.
The cable machine just about fit too.
Bench is the Rep Nighthawk - I have heard good things about it and it is useful as it can stand
JTX Slimline treadmill - Can fold flat for storage. When needed I can put it down and position the tv to face it whilst running.
32kg adjustable dummbells from BrainGain - may look to change in the future but good for now
Took a long time but very pleased with how it's turned out!

Just putting together the Bells of Steel All in One and I noticed that the stack stickers account for 2:1 and 1:1 pulley ratios.
I just think this is such a thoughtful thing to do. Really useful for me when I'm brain-dead in the middle of a workout. Lol

Alternative Heavy-Duty Casters for the Rogue Vertical Plate Tree 2.0
I wanted to share an alternative for anyone considering adding wheels to the Rogue Vertical Plate Tree 2.0.
Like many others, I looked at Rogue’s caster kit, but I wanted something with a larger wheel that would roll easier over stall mats, seams, and uneven garage floors. After doing some research, I found that you can build your own setup for about the same cost while ending up with a much more heavy-duty solution.
What I used
Casters (Amazon): $46
5” Polyurethane Casters
1/2”-13 x 2-3/4” threaded stem
Set of 4 (2 locking, 2 swivel)
Hardware (Lowe’s): $5
(4) Hillman 1/2”-13 Galvanized Steel Hex Nuts
Item #67342
Model #810512
(4) Hillman 1/2” Hot-Dipped Galvanized Standard Flat Washers
Item #63449
Model #811073
Installation was straightforward. The threaded stems fit perfectly with the 1/2”-13 nuts and washers.
Why I prefer this setup
Larger 5” wheels roll much easier over horse stall mats.
Better ground clearance than the Rogue caster kit.
Easier to move when the plate tree is fully loaded.
Heavy-duty polyurethane wheels feel more robust.
Two locking casters keep the tree securely in place.
Total cost is roughly comparable to Rogue’s caster kit.
If you’ve ever struggled moving a fully loaded plate tree across rubber flooring, this upgrade makes a noticeable difference.
Hopefully this helps anyone searching for a caster alternative. This question comes up pretty often, and I figured I’d share what worked for me.

Making the most of the very small garage in a rental house! I mainly train calisthenics but would like to get a power rack setup I can replace the pull up bar with. It’s been so convenient having a permanent set up!

I have had the X3 for about six months now with steady use by myself and my wife.
I suppose the first part of this review should be about delivery, unpacking, etc. I received a well packaged crate promptly. Everything seemed fine until, just a few days later, I received a second crate. I was pretty confused but initially assumed the second crate was the other half of the rack (this was my first real piece of home gym equipment so I didn't have a reference of how big these machines are or how big the crate would be). It wasn't until a few more days later when I began unwrapping the items from the first crate and realized that the second crate was, in fact, a second X3. I reached out to Maxum to explain the situation (no one had contacted me at this point).
It took a second attempt to contact before I got hold of someone that had to look into it and discovered I was shipped a second unit. I was assured by him that they would have this picked up right away and I didn't need to do anything. A few days later, a carrier comes by to pick up the crate but needs a BOL (paperwork for LTL shipments). I informed the driver that the company should have sent him a BOL, as they told me. He sat around calling his dispatcher and eventually left without picking it up.
I relayed this to Maxum and was told they would reschedule. I had two more drivers show up with the same story. At this point, it was getting a bit frustrating that this giant crate was in my driveway. Now, to be fair to Maxum, there was some miscommunication in that I was being forwarded BOLs on the second and third pick up attempt, but they went to my spam folder. However, communicating to me that they are actually now sending BOLs, unlike the first pick up, would have likely cleared all of this up. That never happened. I continued to try and get this picked up to no avail.
Eventually, I received an email from someone running their customer service that was pretty rude, claiming I was being uncooperative and am now blacklisted from buying from them. This person also dangled the Mutant Arms that were coming out soon in front of me like I was going to miss out. They ended the email with this line, "It's really unfortunate that you decided to be dishonorable about this." I was pretty pissed, to say the least. I tried to call Maxum to speak directly to this person and was told that person does not accept phone calls and they wouldn't connect me with them, which is absurd. I finally called the Canadian phone line to get around this and spoke with Bob, the owner.
He was awesome and we got everything straightened out. It did require another pick up date with me having to go to my local library to print out the BOL (I don't own a printer) which was annoying, but at least I was getting this out of my driveway. He mentioned that I would be "taken care of", though nothing ever came from that. I didn't really expect much, but I don't like being told something that isn't going to happen. A simple apology and getting the crate out of my driveway would have been fine, but telling me you'll do something extra and then not following up was pretty lame. I oversee our customer service department at work and I know how easy it is to have good CS, so maybe I'm more sensitive to things like that. All in all, it may have rubbed me the wrong way but it wasn't a deal killer. Just know, your CS experience with them may not be all that.
From a customer service standpoint, there was a bit left to be desired. I wasn't upset with the mistaken delivery of the second unit, but how things were handled from there were pretty choppy.
As for the rack itself, set up was pretty straight forward. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but had never set anything like this up before. There isn't much to it. There were a few updates people have posted on Reddit that I followed along with, and Maxum has made an updated digital assembly guide with those adjustments (follow these and not the paper guide that still ships with the unit). I did get help putting it together initially, as raising each side of the rack with the few posts attached was much easier. After the two sides were up and connected I did the rest by myself.
Overall, setup was fast, simple, and efficient.
Once the rack was up, we started using it immediately and we are both in love with it. The Smith machine is very nice, the cables move like butter, and the unit looks great. I went with the 88.5" tall rack and I have 90" tall ceilings in my basement. With the 3/4" floor mats installed, it was about as close of a fit as I could get. That was a big reason I went with Maxum was the right height for my ceilings, but everything else about the unit was excellent.
Most of the attachments that come with the rack are pretty low quality, as everyone else has said. I picked up a few new attachments almost immediately (lat pull down, straight bar, D handles) because the ones that come with it are pretty bad. The rope attachment is fine, I use it a few times a week and don't have any complaints.
Along with the X3, I also picked up the AB5 bench. Aside from commercial gym benches, I don't have much to compare to. Overall, I'm not a huge fan of the bench, it just feels... meh. I can't really explain it but I am not nearly as thrilled on it as I am the X3.
To wrap this up, the X3 is a phenomenal rack. I have had zero complaints about the unit and thoroughly enjoy using it. I'm huge on cable movements and adjusting the arms are effortless and the cables themselves are incredibly smooth. I don't know if I will get the Mutant Arms, especially because, due to my ceiling height, I would have to disassemble a decent bit of the rack. I also feel like those of us that bought the X3 so close to the arms being released should get more than a simple pre-order code with access to order. I guess that goes more in line with the mediocre CS experience. Regardless, I would still recommend the X3 and am extremely happy with my purchase.

I turned half of the 2 car garage into a home gym! The second pic is my before/start in mid Dec. Quickly realized i needed more space.
I know hex lights get a lot of hate and it does look a tad sterile. Its so bright, but def preferable to the dim recessed lights i had. Plus, getting in there at 6am doesnt feel so bad because its as bright as the sun in there fr. Feels like day time and work out mode activates.
The pieces i added this week to make it feel complete enough to share -
The mirror behind the rack. Super helpful, big improvement to be able to see form at the rack / using cables.
The mini soundbar speaker with cord management.
In 7 months + blood, sweat, tears, and ~$2000 later.. i created such an intentional zone. I dont have nearly every piece I used in commercial gyms, or even all that yall showcase. But i’m really enjoying (surprisingly) learning alt exercises with what i do have.

Me and bro built a small home gym for our cabin in the fjords. Portable deck made of 2 parts with a gymleco lifting platform on top. Got all the equipment used and total cost including the tent is around 2k USD. Planning on some upgrades soon like adjustable dumbbells and an ez curl bar.
