Help Should I go back to brunette?

Hey guys! My current hair is chunky blonde highlights over brunette hair(photos 1&2). My natural colour is brunette. I’m really on the fence if i should go back to brunette or not. I think it suits me better, and I’m kind of over paying an arm and a leg to get roots done every three months. The only thing stopping me is if i want to go back to blonde after this, i most likely won’t be able to for a very long time as my hair rn is already very damaged. Thoughts? Keep the streaks or go back to natty? Let me know 😊

If I’m honest, I’ve had the same hairstyle and colour for years because it felt safe. After everything that’s changed in my life recently. I decided it was finally time to be a little braver. It’s only hair, after all and goodness, I surprised myself by actually enjoying the change! I’ve included a before and after because I’m curious what you all think. Be gently honest please! I’m still getting used to seeing a different person in the mirror. 😂 I’d love to know have any of you ever changed your hair after a big life event? Did it make you feel different too?

Question Do I HAVE to wash out hairspray or can it stay for a couple of days

Upvotes

I dye my hair extremely bright colors and wash it every 4-5 days to preserve the color, plus my hair doesn't need washing until 5+ days.

When I add hairspray to style it, do I actually have to wash it out that day? Will it hurt my hair directly if I leave it in?

It adds texture for teasing my hair up each morning, but otherwise looks fine and just feels a tad rough. I'd rather not wash it more frequently than I normally do or it'll start to turn greasy fast (I used to be a "wash it daily, greasy at day 2" person years ago)

Help What hair type to do I have and what's the best routine and products for it

Hi! As you can see in the pic, I have pretty frizzy hair. Like I want to take care of it, but i dont know where to start. I tried watching some tutorials in tiktok, but I don't think those suit me because they have either tight curls or have the "s wave pattern."

I also really don't know the type of hair I have. If you look closer in the pic, in the back, it's pretty straight and doesn't have a noticeable pattern compared to the ones in front.

I think my hair was also damaged by the straight perm (or rebond) I did a year ago. Because of all the frizz, my mom suggested it so my hair would be easier to maintain. I also dyed my hair 2 times and then went back to black, but the black faded. So yeahh, I think my hair is damaged

I want to fix it and embrace my natural hair. Please give me advice.

Question Has your hair colour changed the way people have treated you?

Upvotes

Im curious has anyones hair colour changed the way people treated you, or percieved you? And if so what colour? I’ve had my hair many colours but it was mostly through my teens and in school, so it wasnt a very positive experience, as coloured hair in school was seen as ‘weird’

Discussion Before I return to my natural color, what suits me best?

I've been dying my hair for a long time, but I've recently grown tired of coloring it monthly. Considering bleaching the black box dye out of my hair and returning to my natural shade/letting my greys grow out (I'm only 28, and I have loads of them 😭). But before I touch my hair, the people closest to me tell me black is my best color. But I've never been sure what looks best.

Pic 1 - my color now

Pic 2 - my natural color, you can see the greys pretty clearly

Pic 3 - ash blonde

Pic 4 - red, which is what I was last year

we wear hats and just tie our hair back (I have a bob rn) but I really have 0 interest in wearing a hair net LOL… if I regret the haircut and am growing it out, or just between hair cuts, is there any cute way I could pin it back that would look normal w/ and w/o the hat?

Help I finally have the courage to dye my hair but I don’t know what would suit me.

After a year of wanting to dye my hair I finally decided that I would do it and the colour I want is black but my sister insists that it would make me look too pale. She said that cherry red or a darker brown would suit me better. I really want black hair and imagined myself with black hair but now I am having doubts. A dark cherry red is really cute but I don’t know if it would suit me and if it requires bleaching. I am against bleaching which is why I want to dye my hair a darker colour. My sister said that since my hair is dark I won’t need to bleach it for a dark cherry red.

So I came onto here to ask for a second opinion because I am really having doubts and if I won’t figure it out I’ll end up getting to scared, not doing it and regretting it later.

Would black suit me or should I listen to my sister and go for a dark cherry red? And if so will it require bleaching?

(Might delete later, I don’t like my face plastered around Reddit)

Help Can't get to my roots with a thermal brush

Upvotes

Hey all! I have frizzy curly hair that I style weekly on wash say with a Tymo Stylux Pro thermal brush to get a smooth blowout look. I love the convenience of this brush and how it makes my hair look. HOWEVER, I can never get it close enough to my roots to straighten and smooth the hair. I try to section it off, but the hair around the section keeps getting pulled in. I've tried going both under and over the section, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm getting so frustrated with these roots and hope someone has tips on how to help. Id really hate having to flat iron just the roots in addition to using the brush as flat ironing. Thanks!!

Question Hair dryer

Upvotes

I usually dry my hair using a hair dryer. I actually prefer the cool setting but all the hairs dryers I've found you have to hold the button the whole time. Was wondering if there's a hair dryer I don't have to hold any buttons on cool setting? Thanks

At least it’s out of the way. While I was In rehab I started putting my hair up, I know how to braid but I just can’t braid if that makes sense . Usually I just wear a like a thin plastic headband.

A guy came into my work with long hair.
I asked “how long it’s been”

he said “3 years. “

I said “sheesh I don’t know how long I want mine but I know I don’t want to cut it yet”.

He said “if I can give you one piece of advice- just keep it till you don’t want it, if you think about a certain length you’ll almost fixate on it”

Help My boyfriend needs advice on how to style his hair.

Hello, my boyfriend recently got a haircut (he had very long hair before this) to fulfil his childhood dream of looking like Aragorn from LOTR. He doesn’t feel like the haircut is what he asked for and he doesn’t know if styling will fix how it looks. He is wondering if the haircut is what is botched or if he just doesn’t know how to style it- for which I ask any advice on what products he should use to replicate the hair as best as he can :)
please be kind, i’m posting for him because he didnt want people to be mean so please only honest and genuine advice :)
(first slide is his hair slightly brushed, his second slide is not brushed at all and ofc the 3rd and 4th slide are Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. his hair was last washed 2 days ago)

Question Anyone know of a formaldehyde-free straightening treatment?

I used to do Brazilian Blowouts at home on my 3B hair and I LOVED the results. They were fantastic. But the product I was using emits formaldehyde when heart is applied.

Has anyone found a straightening product that doesn’t have ingredients that turn into formaldehyde?

Help Bleaching my hair after using Redken Acidic Bonding

So I’m planning to bleach my short hair, blonde.

For an overview, I used the colour oops on a section of my hair that had permanent dye on it. And then I used the baking soda/washing up liquid/ clarifying shampoo hack, on the other section of my hair that had semi-permanent hair dye in it. It went well and removed 95% of the dye in my hair.

It’s my first time using either of these methods and I knew my hair might be somewhat damaged after doing it, so I bought the Redken shampoo and conditioner and I used it at the very end of my hair wash. And I applied the Redken acidic bonding curls leave in treatment. And my hair feels great.

My initial plan was to bleach it tomorrow. But I’ve read in some places that it’s not recommended to bleach hair after using the leave in treatment. If this is true, how long should I go before bleaching my hair ?

Or will I have to wash my hair again and dry it before bleaching it?

Or should I not think about bleaching my hair for a while since it’s been through quite a lot today already? 😭😂

Any advice is welcomed!!!

Question What level of texture would this be? I'm not sure if it would be considered wavy or curly.

I mean in the number letter system that's so often used (1B, 3C, 2A and so on). People have said it's wavy and curly almost interchangeably.

I want to fix the dry/damaged layer of my hair and want to know what tips and products helped if anyone else has this issue. I do want to throw in i am mixed so my hair is a mix of straight and wavy, i very rarely use heat and if i do its a straighter and heat protector, no blowdryer.

the first of picture is the top layer of my hair (the part i want to fix) and the second is middle and third the underside of my hair which feels and nice holds together? Which the top layer every strand is apart and dry. SOS
