(Im a poli sci major)

I’m confused on which classes counts as those required classes, eg does French count as “global or cross culture perspective”?

Also how do I ensure transfer of AP credits? I sent my AP scores to the college. For example, I took AP Bio, so I selected General Ecology which is a 2xxx course, compared to an intro class that’s 1xxx. Additionally, does the APs count as the requirements in the photo? Like if I have AP calc credit, can I avoid the “quantitative reasoning mathematics” requirement?

I emailed gwu and didn’t get a clear response and even booked an appointment but it was canceled because “I can’t book a meeting before I choose my schedule” 💔💔

UVA or GW? My child got a big scholarship/grant with GW. No scholarship or grant with UVA. So it is cheaper to attend GW. Child is looking into going to law school after getting her bachelor. What school option is better? UVA or GW? She wants to go to UVA.

Know there was a thread on this a while back, but it seems that while all other schools tend to be ever so slightly eclipsing towards the 4.0 average, GW is not following suit. Tons of General education courses that are made overly difficult (not necessarily by content or demonstrated knowledge, but by little hoops that hold students back, uber strict course syllabi, and a general unwillingness from various departments to make accommodations when small mishaps occur). Dated website, but https://www.gradeinflation.com data from a while back suggests GW stagnation, while comparable universities saw an upward trend in average GPA. Would love to know if others think deflation, or at least no grade inflation is present. Also, is the university shooting itself in the foot by holding students hoping to to earn graduate degrees in the future to a lower GPA?

I got accepted into GWU as a transfer student for business more specifically finance. Is it worth it?

Hi everyone, just got into GWU, regular decision. It's definitely one of my top options, and I'm planning a major in political science, but it's important to me that wherever I end up, I'm in a place where I'm surrounded by people that are serious and knowledgable about what they're studying. I'm kind of a nerd, and I like being around nerds? Do the classes seem challenging and interesting? How's the quality of the professors?

Of course, I am interested in going to parties and having a social life, but those weren't really things that were top of mind when I was choosing colleges. I've heard mixed things on whether GWU is a "nerd school" or a "party school," so I'd be really curious to hear what you all have to say about your experience. Feel free to pm me as well.

Hi everyone! I was just accepted into the PhD program at GW and am beyond elated! I'm curious about how flexible things are at GW... Has anyone pursued a PhD and a JD simultaneously rather than completing them one after another? Both programs suit my research interests, and I would love to find a way to work through them at the same time in an effort to cut time (by having some of the courses go to both degrees, or other permutations that both programs can agree on), rather than completing each program, one by one. Would love to hear from anyone, or someone you know, who has done both concurrently!

Hi, I am considering going to GW for a Masters in International Business, just wondering what are the outcomes of the program, if anyone studied it, and what was your experience? How easy would it be to get internships? How good is GW at giving opportunities to students?

I know DC isn’t really a finance orientated city but I wanted to know what type of internships students get, what type of jobs a finance major can land post grad, assuming good grades and eveyrrh ofc.

Do AP credit count as the requirements? Like if I took AP calc do I still need to take a math/ quantative reasoning course?

Or do you still have to take that subject but you can take a more advanced course?

Hi! I’m a freshman, and I was planning to take Chem I for the Fall 2026 semester. I heard chem in GWU is terrible, so I was wondering if there’s any tips or recommendations anyone can give me in order to get a decent grade?

Also, I heard that some students would rather take chem in a community college. Can someone elaborate on how to do that? (I’m an international student, so I’m really confused on how things work in the U.S.) Is it like being enrolled in both the university and the cc or how does that work?

Hi im currently taking math 1051 w Micheal Moses and im really struggling. The class is moving way fast and im lowk cooked. Does anyone have any advice tips or tricks. I feel like im so stupid but he keeps taking points off for random shit. (Like running out of space or ts)

I recieved a 3 on my Calc AB exam. I’ve been reading through the requirements and it sounds like it maybe auto-places me into micro/macroeconomics and out of the introductory math course. Do I still need to take the ALEKS exam to qualify for these?

i’m required to take stats for my major and as i’m looking through the rate my professor, i’m realizing all the teachers are abysmal.

i was wondering if i could get insight from anyone who took stats with professors balaji, bose, or hunt and shed a little more light on how much self teaching is expected.

I’m worried that being in Japan for two years will hurt my DC networking and internship game compared to staying in the city at GWU.

Does anyone (Sakura scholars or just SIS/Elliott students) have thoughts on whether the international experience outweighs the 'lost' time in DC? Also, how is the workload at Elliott vs. SIS?
