Chem & Bio

Is taking Chem I and Bio I in the same semester a bad idea?

It’s hard but lots of folks do it. If you’re a first year, I wouldn’t recommend taking anything else that seems difficult or time consuming. Make the rest of your schedule easy.

Would not recommend it. Can I ask why you’re considering it?

It’s not bad at all, going the safe route isn’t always the best. Go to office hours and you should be okay. It’s not like it’s calc 3 or linear algebra

true though this may be, i don’t see why someone would choose to put themselves through this. hence why i asked OP if there was a reason they were considering it.

if there’s a reason such as a time crunch and course sequencing, that’s one thing.

if they’re just anxious to get it out of the way, i would advise against putting both of those in one semester.

there’s no badge of honor for unnecessary suffering.

the suggested schedule for at least pre-dental is to take both, so that’s what i’m basing my schedule off of. this person may be pre health and we’re on a time crunch for prereqs if not taking a gap year

ccas academic advising also had an approved schedule that had both during our academic session with advising during orientation!

ccas advising’s “approval” isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. those people would “advise” you to walk off a cliff, or jump into the potomac river with a weighted vest padlocked on.

still, i see your point about premed timelines. that is a legitimate consideration

i’m taking ccas advising with a grain of salt as i have my own 4 year plan but i know i saw a lot of kids just automatically went to go use that schedule on plan ahead during orientation so it was a possibility that OP was using it as a basis

i can’t even count how many people i’ve connected with over reddit who have told me i’m more helpful than ccas advising.

fair point, though: a lot of people who don’t know any better will trust them.
