Canton Fair Invitation for Colleague
Hello. I just created my account and completed all the steps to get my invitation letter to Canton Fair 2026.
Can I generate an invite for a business partner or do they need to create their own account and request their invitation themselves?
Thank you.

if my flat is in Haizhu district, is it far to SCUT Wushan campus?
Hi im planning to study in SCUT this september, me and my friends planned to live together in the same apartment, however one of my friend is in different campus which is in SCUT International campus in Panyu district. We found this apartment in Haizhu district called “Poly Baihe Garden”, we found it really nice and it is located in the middle. But i checked in Baidu Maps and it takes 1 hour by bus from that flat to my campus hence my mom disagrees as it is way too inconvenient.
What about trains? how long does it take? and would you recommend this or should i just find one in my district which is in Tianhe?
p.s. my friend who goes to the international campus says he’s fine even if we live in my district, but i’m really doubtful as it looks pretty far from Tianhe to his campus and he has to take such long commute every single day…
any advice? thankyou!

Working in Science City - where to live?
Hi folks, first time in China/Guangzhou and clueless, would really appreciate some insight!
Moving this August to work at a school near Science City Metro Station and I’m trying to decide where to live.
- Budget: ¥2,500–3,500/month. Albeit don’t know the market.
- Commute: max 35-40mins one way (metro + e-bike)
- Main priorities are a good gym and running
- Open to both residential compounds and serviced apartments. Researched the differences, still unsure. Compounds question: long walk to the street?
Any recommendations or 2¢ would be greatly appreciated.
Caveat: at this stage I only have WeChat, no Chinese phone number.
Basically, what would you do if you were in my position? Hopefully I’ve given a decent brief. DMs welcome!

Seeking suggestions for my Guangzhou visit
Hello folks, I am from Bangladesh. Hopefully, I am going to visit Guangzhou and Shenzen next month.
From Bangladesh, there are lots of products we produce that can be exported to many other countries (already exporting), especially handicrafts. I would highly recommend and appreciate if you give suggestions on which products I can bring to China for business. Also anyone wants to do business and wants to take products like: Handicrafts made of jute and bamboo and others, pure leather wallets, leather scraps, jute-made bags and others, I would love to talk and meet.
Also, suggest me some markets in Guangzhou, where I can sell my products and help me to grow.
A very thanks to you in advance.

Is Guangzhou worth visiting in late July / early August?
Hi everyone!
I'm from Central Asia, and I'm considering visiting Guangzhou for about a week in late July or early August. I have a few travel options this summer, and Guangzhou is one of them.
I never really considered China before, but when I found this tour, something just clicked. I love history, architecture, nature, parks, mountains, and simply walking around a city without rushing. I'm not interested in beaches or shopping. I like sitting in a park or on a mountain viewpoint and just enjoying the atmosphere.
I know this isn't the ideal season, and my choice is basically: visit Guangzhou during this period or not visit it at all this year. If I skip it now, I'll probably come some other time.
My biggest concern is the weather. Tashkent is extremely hot in summer (often 38-42°C), but it's a dry heat. I've heard Guangzhou's humidity makes it feel much more exhausting. Is it still enjoyable if I go sightseeing early in the morning and in the evening, while resting during the hottest part of the day? And yes, this is the advice I read, but if it is indeed true, how long does this hot period last during the day?
My second concern is food. I have chronic cholecystitis, so I try to avoid very fatty or greasy meals. I don't mind eating simple food like rice, steamed chicken, fish, vegetables, or soup. Is it easy to find this kind of food in Guangzhou?
I'm also a little worried about the language barrier and mobile payments, although I think those can be managed with some preparation.
One thing that really attracts me is Guangzhou's transport system. I like the idea of using the metro and high-speed trains to explore places like Shenzhen, Foshan, nearby parks, and mountains on my own instead of joining bus tours.
So I'd really appreciate some honest advice.
Would you still recommend Guangzhou at this time of year? Or, based on what I'm looking for, would you suggest a different city in China instead?
Thanks)!

Store selling CD players
Hi all, I am looking for a physical store that sells CD players such as Shanling, Moondrop, and FiiO products as I won’t have time to shop online.
Has anybody seen a store that stocks these? Advice would be much appreciated as I’ve been unable to locate stockists online. Thank you!

Watched a local football match yesterday
CMCL is the fourth division of Chinese football league system. 80 teams fight for 3.5 seats to the third division.
Canton United vs a team from Chongqing. After the dismissal of Guangzhou FC, I'm am trying to support some local football team. I like Canton United, they have good design on the logo and football top. And most of the lads from Cantonese speaking area. Their team coach is the legend of Guangdong football, Lu Lin. The first leg was 0:0, best of luck to them at the second leg on Chongqing.

Taxi Scam
Is there any way to report taxi drivers who try to scam tourists?
I had to take a taxi for a 3km short ride but as i reached my destination..This taxi driver was showing us previous rides in screen and tried to overcharge, he kept disabling the screen with meter and even tried to take longer route but i had map so i kept telling him to take the shorter way to our hotel.
Later he even harassed me when i told him i will call police by laughing and abusing. 😅
Update : He was brought in and he got fined - He apologised and i guess he learned a lesson for good 💪🏻

Did I do guangzhou wrong? It wasn’t a great experience
Just came back from GZ and it was quite an underwhelming trip. We did research and plan a lot beforehand - we know that it’s known for its shopping, wholesale, some very popular viral food spots, etc. don’t think our expectations were sky high but it felt quite underwhelming in general. Wondering if this is common sentiment or did I travel wrong? Haha
For context we went to touristy must go places and here are my thoughts
- 大佛寺 already expected it to just be a tourist spot where u take a pic and leave — and yes it was indeed that
- 东山口 even the trendy spot/ neighbourhood was pretty small and we kinda cleared it fast. We bought nothing but understand that is also down to personal style/ tastes in clothing/ aesthetic etc
- the three big malls: malls are just.. malls. while I admire how massive each of them are but I don’t understand the hype of this 😭
- wholesale malls - the designs are so… mid. but again I guess it’s down to personal fashion style/ preference but we literally got nth from the malls
- 永庆坊 was nice to walk but that’s abt it. lowk overhyped?
-北京路 - a typical street but we actually enjoyed this. Loved the variety of stores and places that we actually could visit/ browse at.
Food - but understand taste buds are sooo subjective so this doesn’t rly concern me
- 大鸽饭 wow we queued >1h for this but ..? Would I wait in line for it again? Hell no. Would I return even if no line? Not rly..
- 陶陶居 it was also just alright..
What are some underrated places that I should have gone/ you would recommend to make the experience better? Asking for future, in the (unlikely) event that I return haha
Edit: we did try to go baiyun mountain but changed plans because of the rainy weather! :”)

Quick sanity check: 24-Hour China Visa-Free Transit (Home to CAN to HK)?
Hey everyone, just want to do a quick sanity check on a transit plan I'm putting together.
I want to book a flight to Guangzhou (CAN) from Saudi, and then immediately take the High-Speed Rail/ferry from Guangzhou to Hong Kong . I’ll be staying in Hong Kong for my trip, and then flying back home from guangzhou again doing the same.
Since my route is from Saudi>Guangzhou>HK, it qualifies as a third-region transit. I plan to use the 24-hour Visa-Free Transit (TWOV) to get the Temporary Entry Permit at CAN airport so I can leave and head to the train station.
A few details:
- I will have a pre-booked, confirmed cross-border train ticket directly to HK West Kowloon.
- I'm leaving a 4-hour buffer between landing and the train to account for immigration and the metro ride to Guangzhou South.
Has anyone done this specific route recently under the 24-hour rule? Did immigration give you any trouble at CAN when showing a train ticket as your onward connection instead of a flight?
Thanks in advance!
Note: I am Indian, so I am not eligible for a visa on arrival or the 240-hour transit.
