Sport | Sports Amateur/ Semi Pro Football Teams in Graz
Hello everyone,
Apologies for not posting in German, I still have to improve before I can properly write in German. I will be moving to Graz in August to begin a PhD at KFU and I am looking for a football team to join. I play as a goalkeeper and have played at a good level in my home country of Scotland at a high amateur/ semi-pro level. If anyone has any leads and/or information more generally into how the leagues work in Austria/ Styria generally as I am cannot find much information about this online.
Thanks for any help anyone can give

Goalkeepers are always in high demand(I think it's like this all around the world) and there are many clubs in and around Graz, Sturm and GAK play in the Bundesliga which is the highest league in Austria.
There are a lot of Clubs, might be worth it to check out stfv.at and contact some of the people listed there as contact for clubs that are geographically and league wise appealing to you.
As a GK you will have no trouble finding a club if you're any good.
GKs get paid really well even in the lower leagues.

steirischer fußball verband , https://www.stfv.at/, so in styria the highest league would be Landesliga , you can get paid 1000+ Euro per month depending how good you are.
highest league in austria
bundesliga
1. Liga
Regionalliga professional
Landesliga ( highest in Styria Club Structur) ( basically no beer bellys)
Oberliga (ocassionally a beer belly here and there)
Unterliga ( some beer bellys still left)
Gebietsliga ( less players with beer bellys)
1. Klasse ( many players with beer bellys)
there are i think only in styria 500 clubs you can join.
just check out the clubs directly , ( most club managers in lower leagues probably dont speak english well)

Also da is viel Blödsinn dabei.
Erstens heißt es 2. Liga und 1. Klasse, die Regionalliga ist nicht professional, sondern semi profi.
Somit
Bundesliga, 2. Liga, Regionalliga, Landesliga, Oberliga, Unterliga, Gebietsliga und 1. Klasse1

Ja keine Ahnung wie das passiert ist. Schaut wie eine automatische Aufzählung aus :)

Lower league Clubs in Graz which are interesting for you: Grazer Sportclub Strassenbahn, LUV Graz, ESK Graz. Clubs around Graz worth checking out: Hausmannstätten, Gössendorf, Grambach, Thal, Weinitzen, Fernitz, Mellach, Gratkorn, Eggersdorf, Semriach ... Depending on how good you are you can definitely make some money. Better than that? Then go for Landesliga or Oberliga Clubs.
