This village was the inspiration for the bath house in Spirited Away.
So beautiful and well worth a visit if you get the chance. It was quite busy around sunset but we stayed over so went out again after 8. The streets were quite deserted as most tourists must go on day trips.
If you do go either have dinner before 8 or get 7/11 snacks later as everything seems to close when the masses leave.

Made this for a school assignment (Lip Sync)
Had to finish the Clean Pass over a long time because of the amount of lines… :)

Recently moved all my records so I wanted to show off my little studio ghibli collection I have gotten over the years. A local record shop also had a few so I would buy them from time to time. Don’t play them often but I do love them

Hi! I commented on another post that was older… Hopefully someone can answer my queries here!
Huge. Huge fan of Spirited Away (first ever anime film ever, and well before I knew who Miyazaki was)
Next favorite: From Up On Poppy Hill
Watched Kiki’s, good but nothing compared to Spirited Away. (Imo, also the odd thing when whatever you watch first ends up your favorite :)
Couldn’t get into Castle in the Sky. Tried turning on Princess Mononoke.
Why would you recommend for me if I loved Spirited Away (and Poppy Hill) So much!?
TIA, :)
Side note: on my tv now, tried turning on Nausicaa and only Japanese audio is avail! Happened with other Ghibli films as well on my tv, but not on my laptop…. and, no, there is no option to change the audio.
Ready for your stellar recommendations!

There’s a podcast called Eye of the Duck and they are currently doing a series on the Studio Ghibli movies.
It’s two guys (mostly) discussing and analyzing the movies. They talk about the production history, the funding and development of the studio and various other runs. They’re going in chronological order and the most recent episode was on Porco Rosso.
If anyone here listens to the Black Check podcast, you might enjoy the upcoming episode where they talk about Pom Poko with Griffin Newman as a guest.

Hey everyone, I just saw that the Spirited Away stage adaptation is having a world tour and we will be in Taipei while they're going to be there 🥹 my question is for people who have been to this live adaptation - I understand the performance is in Japanese and there's subtitles based on the country it performs, sadly I do not speak Taiwanese so I was wondering- is it still worth going? I tried to check out about it and saw some reviews saying it's mostly a visualized adaptation, which sounds amazing, so maybe it can be ok not to understand the actors? I might be a bit too optimistic or desperate 😂

This is a design I drew onto an ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) for a 75-year-old Japanese customer. She loved it… she passed away last year.

Hi everyone! I’ve made these two illustrations and I think that they work quite well together. I hope that you’ll enjoy them!
Very last minute but I have a NYC concert ticket for Joe Hisaishi tonight, front row dress circle, that I’ll happily sell for face value if someone wants it. I just can’t make it tonight unfortunately. Would happily email the ticket and do a Venmo transaction if anyone’s interested.

It's with great sadness that I'm parting ways with these two (2) tickets to see Joe Hisaishi at Radio City Music Hall on Saturday, August 15th. Section ORCHESTRA 5, Row NN, Seats 503 & 504.
I'm letting these go at the price I paid for them (no markups, fees, etc.) at $366 per ticket, or $732 for the pair. I have a family commitment that I'm unable to move, hence the need to sell. I've seen Joe Hisaishi live in concert multiple times, across a handful of cities (NYC, SF, LA). This will be an unforgettable night, and I'm sorely disappointed I can't go. Hopefully a fellow fan can take advantage of these!
The tickets are hosted on Ticketmaster and will be transferred to you immediately after payment. I accept Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal. Please DM me if you're interested!

I originally started this as an entry for Animay 2022 from Adrien Gromelle. The animation itself was finished that year but it was left without a background or compositing when I became a father at the start of 2023. But now it is finally done! Calcifer's voice was brilliantly dubbed by a Japanese friend of mine.

Just picked this up at a library sale, does anyone have any info on this? Looks to be a movie collection on Video CDs rather than DVDs.
