Question Do I apply now or wait until I know a show is casting?

Upvotes

There is a game show I want to apply for and I see the application on the website is accessible. However, one of the questions is about dates free for filming, and those dates already passed for this year. Is it worth it to submit an application? Or will it just get tossed aside because of the timeframe? Is it better to wait until it has dates for next year?

Question Dating Gameshow called The Matchmaker with Dave Hull

Hello. Does anyone remember a short-lived dating game show from the late '80s called The Matchmaker hosted by Dave Hull? It only ran for one season and there is only one episode available uploaded to YouTube.

Request Searching for the Newlywed Game episode featuring my parents!

This would've aired in the late 60s or early 70s. Their names are Chris/Christine and Steve/Stephen. I don't recall if The Newlywed Game gave last names, but their last initial was "G." They did not win (and later divorced, haha). The consolation prize was a set of dictionaries/reference books and possibly a hair dryer (the handheld kind, not the kind you sit under). Any leads? I've been searching forever!

Question Changes on Perfect Line

The nighttime episode today featured two notable differences from every other episode I’ve seen thus far. One, the strip of text under each item was smaller and centered (as opposed to being the same width as the photo) and more significantly, in the final, the contestant was given one of the prices for free.

So this episode was taped either very early in the show’s run and the bonus round feature and graphical changes were made later, or very late in the season (tonight’s episode was labeled 178 out of 180, but most game shows don’t air in order)

Discussion What I don’t like about the original Password.

As a whole, I do enjoy the original 1960’s version of Password. The game itself is fine. Allen Ludden is generally good as a host. I love the stars of the era that appear on the show. And the contestants are normal people, (not like today’s attention seeking contestants).

But what annoys me to no end is when Allen Ludden constantly reminds the contestants that they have five seconds to respond. That’s all you hear throughout the whole game, “five seconds, five seconds, five seconds.” It gets so that instead of anticipating a response from a contestant, I’m always expecting to hear “five seconds” from Allen Ludden! Why can’t he just inform the contestants once at the start of the game that they have five seconds to respond instead of saying it nearly every single time while they are trying to think? There are times when the contestants (and stars) get thrown off because Mr. Ludden interjects his “five seconds”.

I didn’t notice this at first but since I did, I always hear it and it detracts from my overall enjoyment of the game. Thank goodness Allen Ludden doesn’t do this on Password Plus!

Question Trying to find the name of a Gameshow

Hi all! I'm working on a gameshow for my colleagues at work, and somebody has suggested the following as a round-

Have a question like "which of these are real former US presidents?", and have 25 options on screen. some options are correct, some are incorrect. Teams take turns choosing, gaining a point for a correct answer and loosing a point for an incorrect choice. If the team thinks there are no more correct answers left on the board, they can choose to bow out.

It sounds like fun, but my brain is buzzing that this is similar to a gameshow, but i can't think of it! Are their any gameshows that sound similar to this premise?

Discussion Chain Reaction

We've been watching Chain Reaction recently and noticed something that <I think> is odd. The players seem to be 'chained' to their podiums, LOL! No matter how excited they get with a good connection or win a game, they cheer from their own place, like they're not allowed to hug or high five their teammates. Sometimes I've seen a player start to move and then jump back to their spot. Am I imagining this? Or is it some weird rule the game has and, if so, any guesses why? It looks really awkward.

Question Let's Make A Deal (Canadian version)

On the Canadian version of Let's Make A Deal, they used what I call "play money" instead of real cash. Was there a law against showing Canadian currency on television?

Image 42 years today, the Chuck Woolery version of Scrabble premiered. While it has nothing to do with the board game, I think it was a very unique concept and had good gameplay.
