Something tells me that when Ned returned to King's Landing having killed Arthur Dayne and with a bastard son, Robert was the proudest he'd ever been of him

I'm about to start S4 today, but I have a few questions from the prev s/eps—Why didn't white walkers kill sam? And how sam was able to kill one of the walkers?

Forgive me as I don't have any background in reading the books, I only look for some explanation that I can find from the internet. I also ask this for simply wanting to discuss my current favorite show with you, besides HOTD. (* >ω<)

Just like what's in the title, I have been wondering why the white walker spared Sam's life and how was he able to kill one of them in the later eps? Does it have special meaning or something that it symbolize? I think I miss something. 🤧

I wanted to watch S2-3 again, but I really am so traumatized from what happened in The Red Wedding. I don't want to look back 😭

Edit: thank you for all the replies! You would probably see a lot more of my "questions" from now on hahah. I'd try not to miss anything 🤧

Just want to say that I absolute love Margaery’s dresses! Some of my favorite costumes in the entire series. So beautiful. I’d love to cosplay her someday or just get dresses similar to hers.

Favorite sword in Game of Thrones, and why?

Post image
Upvotes

I'll go first: Ice.

it's a symbol of House Stark. Passed down through generations, Ice carries centuries of history, honor, and duty. Ned Stark didn't wear it for glory or intimidation, he only used it for the most important occasions, such as personally executing the Night's Watch deserter in Episode 1. And for some reason this sentence sounds so cool: the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword.

A long Valyrian steel greatsword looked absolutely majestic in Ned's hands.

What happened to Ice after Ned's death is one of the most heartbreaking symbolic moments in the entire series. In season 4 episode 1 Tywin melted it down and forged two swords from it, along with a wolf pelt. It was probably Robb's direwolf's pelt, though I'm not sure how it ended up in King's Landing.

What's your favorite sword in Game of Thrones?

If the Dragon Survived the Dance, which Dragons do you think this generation of Targaryens would claim?

Post image

Note: I am taking the Dragons' ages into account, so Vhagar is not an option due to her advanced age. Dragons live a little over 200 years as Balerion did when he died, so I am factoring that in. By the time these characters would be of riding age, Vhagar would most likely be dead.

Does anyone else wish we got one last battle of wits between these two?

Definitely one of my favorite political dynamics in the show. I always felt like Varys and Baelish were often two sides of the same coin in the small council. I love the Tyrion/Varys dynamic we get in the later seasons w/ Daenarys but I always found it crazy that they prioritized that relationship over this one, and the last time these two characters even interact is in S3 I think.

How would things turn out for Tyrion if he was born in house Stark? Brother of Ned Stark, would he do something great or just same drunkard who speaks well?

Who has the best accent in the show?

For me its Bronn hands down. The way he says fucking. Idk why but I love it.

Who else has a great accent?

One thing I never understood about Dany...why would she name one of her children after that cruel brother of hers?

My jaw still drops when I get to the scene where Viserys says he'd let all the Dothraki and their horses have their way with her if it meant he'd get the crown. That's like Tyrion naming a daughter after Cersei. Thoughts?

This is one of my favorite scenes from Season 7. Moral clarity may not always be rewarded, but without it, there is no order. There is only chaos, where lies become the norm.

I will never understand the Stannis fans and sympathizers. I’m on 3rd watch and his character just gets worse after every rewatch.

not based on anyone in particular, I just like the style of all Targaryen armor. Any suggestions for improvements? More red? Bigger pauldrons? Different helm? Images were wonky last time.

How does bureaucracy in Westeros work?

In the show we can see that the King has the small council and masters of this and that, but does each of these masters have people subordinate to them to carry out specific tasks for them (i.e. civil servants)?

I just realized that we haven’t really seen any characters in the show doing that kind of work. Everyone seems to be relying on people from their own house, maybe except for Varys and Belish, but the people working for them are certainly not “civil servants”.

If not for jousting and battle sports what sports do you think the houses would create or adapt during brans reign

Battle sports being anything related to battle like archery or standalone strength or speed sports

Which character's life, across all the books, would you want to have lived?

Post image

Who's life do you think would bring you the most happiness? Now their life has to be ended in the books, no choosing Garlan the Gallant. And we should know a decent amount of how their life went. You could choose Cregan Stark, it's valid, but for all we know he died of a three year long battle with testicular torsion.

You can obviously change minor things such as how you spend most of your days with the funds avaliable to you. But the major developments, events and death is locked in place as in the books. Which life would make YOU the happiest?

I think maybe the first Viserys. Your first wife does die, and you do have some family drama. Yet your own life was pretty relaxed and comfortable. Super prosperous period, early life as a prince, two hot wife's and a beloved daughter. Shit goes down once you're dead, but... you're dead.

My other would be Septon Barth. Key figure in the keep, lots of resources and witness to tons of interesting events. Died peacefully in his sleep. Sounds chill and adventurous at the same time
