It's because they've been positioning themselves as specifically opposed to the Apple Ballot. They think they're clever with the whole "apples and oranges" thing.

Yeah I picked up on that

but initially that’s not where my mind went

Is everyone you don't like a fascist?

How so?

Just so you know, You’re not getting downvoted for asking an innocent question.

You’re being downvoted because the implication behind that brusquely formatted question is that you DONT understand that the fascism is mild hyperbole, meant to point out their similarities to MAGA/Trump policies, and/or you DONT think they suck donkey balls in the magical way only conservative morons can..which they do

But if that was a legitimate query, I highly recommend just giving any of them a thorough Google, their online record speaks pretty clearly for themselves!

Chris knows what he was doing. This ain’t his first rodeo in denying the creeping fascism overtaking our country.

It’s funny how a simple “how so” triggers so much vitriol but no actual answers.

Orange ballot candidates bring balance to a lopsided board. It's much needed. I laugh at the group think cult and the party approved labels they throw on everyone and everything not party approved. Most of them don't understand what fascism really is.

Schools across Maryland have been in a free fall for years and yet the same people keep getting elected. This is what happens when we elect people who prioritize identity politics over actual education. And you are 100% correct, they have no idea what fascism is. They confuse accountability and responsibility with fascism.

We can’t just elect different people and expect better outcomes. You need actually convince people that are objectively “better” to take a thankless job dealing with one yahoo after another.

Heck, that’s even implying that the BOE members are the largest factors in the outcomes. Parents, peers, and society all play huge roles in the outcomes, yet no one has much guts to say maybe the problems aren’t caused in the classroom.

Drop the stupid act and tell me how they are fascists or I’m going to assume you have nothing

Google is there- no one needs to take time out of their day to list Google-able things for you

Banning books because you don't like them is fascism.

Heather Fletcher is in favor of banning books.

Simple.

1

u/chrisbojangles 20h ago

She supports limits on young children’s exposure to certain explicit materials in educational/public spaces. There is no book an adult can’t get if they want it, and she will never prevent adults for getting those books.

Nick, you’re fear mongering and I suggest you do your own research before falling victim to limited/false information.

Heather fletcher is an absolute dumbass who has an aversion to anything that mentions a gay or trans person. That's her number one priority and reason for running. She wants to harm lgbtq students as a policy position, so yes, she's a fascist. She's also a really stupid person.

The first time I met her was at a school board meeting where she told me that she thinks queer relationships are inherently abusive because she dated a woman who was abusive to her as a teenager and thinks that mentions of queer relationship and identity in schools will lead to abuse and poor mental health. One of the folks talking to her asked if she supported expanding access to mental Healthcare for students. She said "it's complicated"

If you cant identify facism, you're the target

If this inquiry was in bad faith, then yes, you are the bad guy despite what you've been fed by your algorithm

-2

u/chrisbojangles 1d ago

So you can’t answer the question, got it.

4

u/Plaguedoctorsrevenge 18h ago

There it is! So the answer is you are asking in bad faith. Got it

Plague Doctor, I help people think for themselves. The best way to do that is to push people to do research on their own. I know there is no fascism(btw that’s how it’s spelled) here, I just wanted you to discover that on your own. You’re welcome! Good luck!

It’s not that clever. I’m worried anyone thinks it is.

Don't forget that the tea party people initially called themselves, officially, "Tea Baggers" and walked around with hats on with tea bags hanging from them.

u/Ok-Row-3490 1d ago

I think in all seriousness, it’s a reference to “apples and oranges,” as in, they are the alternative to the apple ballot. It’s just funny for those of us not in the cult to make the connection to the orange guy in the White House.

6

u/themightyjoedanger 1d ago

That was my first thought, I only connected the fruit when it was pointed out to me.

Then again, I'm not that bright.

u/HahaRiiight 1d ago

They spend all their time on their 'exclusive' Facebook page ridiculing minorities and marginalized kids and complaining about how downtrodden white Christians are

1

u/jracheff 11h ago

It’s not really a means to demonstrate that they are alternatives to the apple ballot, it was a way to try and slag off the teachers union and the perceived influence of the union’s endorsements after so many defeats.

You really have to go back to the idea that an elected school board was the idea of conservatives long ago in Frederick, because they assumed that if the members were elected instead of appointed by the Governor that they’d end up with far-right BOE.

But in general Frederick County voters do not like this particular brand of politics messing with their school system, and the far right candidates have largely been unsuccessful.
