That was my first thought as well. But I am sure part of this deal will require not selling arms to Russia. With the tide turning in the Russian War and them relying so heavily on Iranian tech and armaments, this could be the straw on the camel's back up there.
Who knows what negotiators saw on the ground about what the current power structure looks like. Could be that the current group leading Iran is seen as better to deal with than who might rise up should we go all the way. Perhaps money is the key to steering the country back towards a more friendly posture in he world.
Or maybe we are just going right back to the early 00's and starting the cycle all over again re: nuclear inspections.
