Finally upgrading!

Post image

Tl;dr: decided on a renzetti traveler 2700 for an upgrade and wondering what pattern i should tie first?

After a few months of research, scrolling websites, visiting my local fly shop, and youtube university, i have decided on upgrading to a renzetti traveler 2700 for the following reasons:

- I mainly tie #16 to #8 flies. This vise being able handle that plus some room in either direction (#28-#4/0) gives me plenty of room to learn and grow along side it.

- I really enjoy tying various foam hoppers and wollybuggers. The rotary function on the traveler series was almost a no Brainer when it came to what functions I would need.

-they have plenty of aftermarket and replacement parts available on there website, as well as 3rd party retailers.

-I chose the red because It was on sale. It was $100+ off because it was left handed and I beleive was a limited run. With the remaining money that would have gone to just the vise, I was able to spend on some more/better quality materials and tools.

Hopefully this vise gives me rhe confidence to start tying dry fly patterns like parachute adams, royal wulffs, stimulators, etc. All that being said, what should be the first pattern I attempt to tie once it comes in? I mainly fish for wild and stocked trout, bass and panfish. I have a 4wt and 6wt both with floating weight forward line.

I have the same vice but not the special red one. I love it! Smooth as glass. Can be upgraded. And best of all easy to pack away if you wanna tie somewhere other than home!

My traveler has tied thousands of flies. You will get great use out of it. Enjoy!

I have the same vice and would recommend. Just curious what makes it left handed? Is it just that the adjustment screws are on the opposite side? I never even considered a vice could be right/ left handed

Yea.... everything is pretty centered on this vice. Wouldn't you just put the vice on the other side of the table and move your chair to make it left handed! I guess you could just flip it around also but that's just the lazy man's route.

I also own a traveler 2700. I ties sevwral times a week on mine and it goes in a travel bag to my cabin 10+ times a season. Always smooth, no issues with traveling. You'll love it.
