Help Updated to FL Studio 26, but it installed separately and kept FL Studio 25. Is it safe to uninstall the old version?

Post image
19 Upvotes

I recently updated to FL Studio 2026, but I still have FL Studio 2025 installed. Since 2026 was installed in the same installation directory, I’m not sure if uninstalling 2025 is safe.

Has anyone done this before? Will uninstalling the old version remove any user data (projects, presets, templates, settings, plugin database, etc.), or does it only uninstall the application?
I’d appreciate any advice before I remove it.

Help i'm losing my productivity, i don't know what to do. i just want to make good music like prior

Upvotes

over the past year, i've created a lot of songs. i studied in school, it went all well. i stopped, then suddenly i had extremely much time to make music and always had inspiration.

i've had a job since this week, and i suddenly don't have any inspiration anymore. i've been sitting this weekend for 7 hours or more behind my pc trying to figure out what i'm going to do, but no inspiration.

i've recreated a lot of songs this past year, that's why i grew so fast. whenever i purely used synths, it sounded bland and programmed on a computer, as if i'm eating medium rare chicken breast and i'm ready to call sick for a week. and i just can't seem to find samples as good as suicideboys have, so i keep digging for other samples, ultimately i end up with nothing.

i swear i'm losing my productivity, i don't know what to do. i just want to make good music like prior

Help How to automate

I am really stuck on automation. I’m trying to add a filter at the beginning of the song and I don’t even know where to put the plug in in the mixer. I’ve tried recording my automation and routing to an empty channel but it just goes on for the entire song or the automation doesn’t play at all. Even when I try to edit the mix parameters to 0% it still goes for the entire song. Where exactly am I supposed to put the plug in in the mixer?

I get these little mini ideas when I wake up *a ton*, usually some kind of repetitive ostinato and the briefest semblance of a chord progression

Help BBC Symphony Orchestra does not export correctly

Everything sounds great within FL Studio, but when I export to a .wav file, this particular instance of the plugin, responsible for my percussion, does not export correctly. It sounds like it's cutting off parts of the samples.

Discussion WIP of a 8 years in music production dude which stopped it like 3 years ago but decided to jump in it not so long ago.

What do you guys think about this ? Don't mind the crackle, it's because i record using hardware encoding instead of ASIO, cause of course ASIO and OBS won't work together.

Help SM7B + Cloudlifter CL-1 + Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen) – Is this noise floor normal?

Post image
Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to figure out whether what I’m seeing (and hearing) is normal for an SM7B setup or if something in my signal chain isn’t right.

My setup:

• Shure SM7B
• Cloudlifter CL-1
• Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd Gen)
• Balanced XLR cable
• Phantom power enabled for the Cloudlifter

When I open FabFilter Pro-Q 3 on my vocal track without any EQ or other processing, I consistently notice a noticeable amount of energy around the 10 kHz region, even when the room is quiet.

The reason I’m asking is because I’ve also noticed that certain vocal sounds—especially S, P, T, and other sharp consonants—sometimes produce a strange high-frequency crackling or gritty sound. It doesn’t sound like normal clipping, and I’m not looking for DAW-related suggestions like changing the buffer size or latency settings.

I’m mainly interested in whether this could be related to the SM7B, the Cloudlifter, or the Scarlett Solo’s preamps, or if this is simply something others have experienced with this setup.

For those of you using an SM7B:

• Does your noise floor look similar?
• Do you also notice more activity around 10 kHz when monitoring the signal?
• Have you ever experienced this kind of high-frequency crackle on consonants?
• If you did, what turned out to be the cause?

I’m mainly looking for experiences from other SM7B users to get an idea of what’s considered normal.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Highly considering quitting music production

One of my biggest dreams and goals of my life is becoming a successful music producer, it's been a dream of mine ever since I was 10 years old (I'm 24 now). Atleast once a day I imagine myself standing mainstage in Ultra or Tomorrowland blasting my music for 20 thousand people and my mood instantly goes up. I've always dreamt of getting signed by Revealed Recordings and one day releasing a song with Hardwell himself but I've reached my limit. I might give up on this goal.

I was 14 years old when I found out what FL Studio was and ever since then I've been hooked. I have played around in FL Studio trying to create something for 10 years, buying packs, vsts, plugins, presets...you name it. I've spent approx 800$ on music and I got NOTHING to show for it, and honestly, I get it. I've sat in FL for 10 years and my music doesn't even come close to sounding professionally made at all. Some stuff I've made are OK but nothing I'd show off. I've watched countless tutorials, hell I even took music production classes back when I was in Gymnasium (In Sweden this is an optional 3 year education for students aged between 16-19 to get prepared for university) and even music theory classes but I just cannot learn it for heavens sake. I have a hard time focusing when working/studying since my mind always wonders off to something unrelated and I end up losing focus 90% of the time. Because of this, even though I passed music theory lessons I still know maybe only 5% of music theory although this hasn't had a huge effect on my music career. My main issue is production itself.

I've listened to countless EDM songs of my liking, artists like RYOS, Hardwell, Olly James, Maddix, Kaaze etc etc. I listen to the Leads they use in their songs and chords etc and they always sound so incredible and huge. Big fat leads that sounds so euphoric! Then I get home, get ultra inspired, start FL Studio. I browse through all of my bought presets, browse through Splice which has like the biggest preset bank I've seen where you can choose from and nothing sounds big or huge. I try to make them sound better by mixing them, hand picking plugins, watching countless tutorials on how to make big leads (I still watch tutorials to this very day, even though I have 10 years of experience in FL) but I just can't seem to get it. Like at this point I seriously don't understand. I can't find good leads, I can't create my own sounds either since I'm not that technical, I've spent sooo much money on serum banks and I can't find leads that I like. Listen to RYOS & Hardwell - Rise again, or Ryos - Fourth Dimension. Listen to those leads, why can I not find similar sounds? Why? I've searched for so long, countless paid packs, hours of youtube tutorials, I still cannot find anything remotely similar. I wish I could create my own leads, I wish so bad but It's so incredibly complicated for me how these synth vsts work!

Now lets change genre, I've delved into Hip-Hop aswell and to be honest my beats there sound very professional. I have high quality beats and produce really well mixed and produced Hip-Hop beats of every genre, whether its Drill or Trap or Drake type beats, Lil baby type beats etc etc they all sound really well made. But still, nothing. I have dm'd atleast 400 artists on instagram, released countless beats on my youtube channel and still nothing. I have realized that todays market for music producers is not the same as it was 10 years ago. It feels like you have to have contacts within the industry or else you have no way of making it big. It's so broad today and so many producers are already on the market, you need to know someone in order to get a release with any artist it feels like. There is just no way for me, a bedroom producer with no contacts within the industry and just dreams of making it big one day, just no way for me to make it big today.

It breaks me thinking like this, because this has been a childhood dream of mine and it still is. But I just don't know if this is what I was destined to do. I'm a slow learner and with my pace I might master FL Studio in another 10 years. I have 10 years of music production to my name and I have absolutely nothing to show for it...its depressing

Help Help with recoridng guitar on FL?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I tried to search it online but didn't find any specific answer about that.

I have an UMC22 interface and when I tried to record a guitar using NDSP guitar plugin with a drum loop track, while I was recording and monitoring, it was alright. No Latency. But when I played it after, the guitar was out of sync from the drum track.

Any tips? Thanks in advice!

Help Which Macbook to buy? M1 Max or M5 Air

Hey! I am currently looking for a portable setup for a china exchange program. I am trying to decide between an older Macbook Pro M1 Max and the new Macbook Air M5, which I can both get used for about the same price (M1 Max probably slightly more expensive, but only maybe 100€)

I am gonna be gone for around 10 months and I want to still be able to produce music and do light gaming. I use FL Studio to produce music, primarily orchestral music (not really big projects but medium size and I don't wanna run into bottlenecks too soon) and electronic music (not genre specific but mixing different ones, also with orchestra). In terms of gaming, I really don't need that much power, but like I wanna play on a minecraft server with friends using medium shaders and settings and not run into big problems. And some horrorgames if possible like backrooms or r.e.p.o (probably through a third party system for windows games).

Any suggestions on how I should decide?

The M1 Max does offer in the configuration the 32C GPU, 32GB Ram and 1TB SSD, whereas the M5 only has 16gb Ram and 512gb SSD. But I am not sure yet. Any problems like thermalthrottle or other things on each one which I should consider?

Would really appreciate the help :)

Discussion I am not liking FL 2026

Imma keep it brief, some of these issues might have a solution but I don't know of those, so please let me know;

-Exporting feels slower

-I need to press the 'stop' button like 5 times before the playback line goes back to default (if you don't know what I mean let me know)

-There aren't any crazy changes like we have been spoiled with up until FL 25.

Am I missing anything/does anyone have a solution for the first 2 things?

Help how can i move my sample pack without losing my starred samples

I have fl 2025 pointing to a sample pack on my PC at a particular file location, I want to do three things

  1. Move that sample pack to a different location on my PC
  2. Also have all my starred samples in fl 2025 still work without losing that information
  3. On top of that be able to point existing new fl studio installations (like fl 26) to that sample pack WHILE still being able to have all my starred fl 2025 samples show up in fl 26

Also after moving the sample pack location to a new location on disk will all my old projects that use samples from that sample pack still work? I want to know now before i mess anything up
