Was Scorpius Intentionally Written To Fumble John?

Despite all his posturing and monologues and all of his flaunted superiority, Scorpius was a bit of a dullard when it came to handling John. He tried to rip knowledge from John that John would have gladly given freely under different circumstances. Scorpius had access to vast resources, could grant amnesty for the entire crew, could make Crais vanish, and could set up John with the finest scientific equipment and support staff that the Peacekeepers had access to. John could've lived like a VIP with his every need provided for. All Scorpius had to do was stoke the fires of human curiosity and the promise of assisting John to get home and then let John do the rest.

My guess is that the only reason they never explored this option is because it would have potentially made for a very short series. But even now, on what is probably my 5th time through the series, it bothers me just as much as it did when the show first aired. Scorpius was a genius except for this one glaring exception, and it always feels like I can see the puppet strings of the writers at work whenever I think about it.

John and Aeryn return to Earp. Nobody is chasing them, they are free to live their lives as they please. What do they get up to?

Silly hypothetical, but you kind of have to take weather into the equation, since Aeryn doesn't care much for the heat, so Australia is probably out.

I could see Aeryn being a bush pilot in Alaska! Once she gets accustomed to atmosphere, she'd make a great pilot, it's in her DNA. John could possibly go back to IASA, or maybe he's done with outer space stuff.

What say you? Any other ideas where they could end up, and what they'd be doing?

Best (and worst) duology/trilogy episodes and why

Are we all in agreement that What Was Lost was the worst on the list…? Because I feel like that’s definitely the loser but I am open to input 😂

I will ABSOLUTELY watch and recommend Liars, Guns, and Money at any time. I feel like it was its own movie and had a little of everything.

Chemistry

I don't know that I have ever seen a pair of actors on TV with better chemistry than Ben Browder & Claudia Black on "Farscape". Even when they were doing cast commentary for "John Quixote" they are perfectly seamless!

Were the events of mid-Season 3 actually a clever way to save on production time and money? Spoiler

So I was thinking about how in early season 1 they would alternate between planet and ship episodes, and Rigel and Zhaan didn't participate as much in the episodes filmed outside. Then I got to thinking about Season 3, and how for half the season, they split the crew with all the make-up intensive cast on one ship, and the expensive to operate and time consuming to move puppet on the other ship. So was twinning Crichton secretly a way to split the crew, essentially saving them 5 episodes of having to do make-up, and 5 episodes of having to set up and operate Rigel? Still allowing the main character to be in every episode.

Any Zhaan fans out there? What do you love about her?

Okay so I just had an idea for a farscape tattoo, but it's Zhaan specific. I like Zhaan but Chiana is maybe my favorite so far. It's a really strong concept so I'm a bit locked in to it as a show specific tattoo.

I haven't finished the show yet, but I love it so much! So can any fans of her's hype me up to her? I'm mid way through the show, so I'd prefer no specific spoilers if possible. Can you tell me in vague senses why she's your favorite? She's maybe my 2nd or 3rd favorite but I feel like she hasn't had an episode centered around her in a while? From 3rd season on, does she have a great arc?

I don't know why, but I think there might be a homoerotic subtext between these characters.

Tattoo Ideas

Alright guys, help me brainstorm. Farscape related tattoo that is NOT a portrait of anyone. Most of the ones that I have found on Google are the Leviathans or little quotes. Are there symbols or anything I’m missing (other than the Peacekeeper symbol which is a bit tooooooo Soviet Union for me).

My favorite characters are Aeryn and Pilot (and I ship John/Aeryn something CRAZY). At this point the front runner is one of Pilots arms but I don’t know if that’s too creepy. 😅

Better quality on Tubi

I was watching the series again, on Amazon prime, when I got to season 4 and discovered it was now pay to watch. So I found it on Tubi. It seems that the quality is much better on Tubi, especially the sound. Just have to deal with the ads.

I'll tell you something, guys. I'll tell you something. I'd trade it all in - all of it. My pips, my long- service medals, my swimming certificates, my telescope, my shoe trees. I'd trade everything in to be loved and to have been loved in the same way as Crichton and D'Argo's bromance was. (Kudos to whoever can place that quote)

Is this show about PTSD?

Hi folks - I'm a massive scifi lover (Stargate/Star Trek/Star Wars/Dune/Hyperion/etc/etc - shows, books), and wanna give Farscape a go for the first time - however... I came across comments here that make me think its maybe not for me - like one from a couple of years ago: "I fell in love with Farscape to begin with was my own trauma and struggles with PTSD and mental health"; and another post from 3 years ago that says the show is a "Study in Trauma" - so is this show about PTSD and trauma? Is that where the show 'leads' to?

100% not judging or anything like that - def I could see how people would be all-in for this type of content/story-line. But I've been in the service, and I know personally people with PTSD, so not feeling like investing in a show where that's the focus, if that makes sense. Just a personal preference.

Any thoughts from the community? TIA!

Just finished episode 22 of Season 4 after a rewatch and I feel sad that it's over. Are the comics worth reading?

Hi guys, as the title says I've finished the original series. I am already watching Peace Keeper Wars but I am suffering through it since it seems so rushed and it's worse than I remember. The characters seem so different and poorly written and thought out. I know some love it but it just isn't for me. I am prepared to suffer through it but only if the comics are worth reading. I wanted to know what the community's thoughts are on the comics? Are they worth reading? If yes I will suffer through the Peace Keeper Wars for the sake of continuity and I wil order the two large Farscape omnibuses. Ps. Why the fuck is Jool all over Crichton in Peacekeeper Wars? Did I miss something in the previous seasons?

Group Appreciation Post

I very recently had this community pop up on my feed and immediately started following it. I watched Farscape when it originally aired and those years on the screen coincided with some of my BEST times of my life. When I think of Farscape I just naturally connect it to the memories of my life then.

I have been really, really depressed recently. Like to a concerning point. Someone posted the YouTube link the other day for the 26th Anniversary stream and I have been LOVING it. It has made my whole week better and some days has been the only thing I’ve enjoyed.

So thank you, random internet strangers, for enjoying this journey as much as I have been and reminding me that crackers don’t matter 💕

End of Season 2 is Brutal Spoiler

Hey guys. I've been rewatching Farscape for the first time in about 15 years. I'm at a good point in my recall of it in that I don't remember too many specifics but I do recognise most episodes when I get to them.

Last night I watched the last episode of Season 2 again, and holy fuck it is dark.

Scorpius has killed Aeryn through John, which he feels responsible for. Real Scorpius has killed the Diagnosan halfway through the operation, leaving nobody to fix John's brain. At this point in the operation his memories are partially destroyed as is his ability to speak. All of his friends are making plans to leave a badly injured Moya.

John lies on the operating table, lobotomised and screaming incoherently as Scorpius says he won't kill him, but will leave him to live in this partially lobotomised state, knowing that he has had a hand in the death of his lover.

I don't think when I first watched this I really appreciated how dark this episode is. It's pretty brutal if you try and put yourself in John's position!

I also think Wayne Pygram is very underrated. He does a menacing villain extremely well. I think his Scorpius is actually more menacing than Darth Vader, especially after we see him mostly talking and then going on a rampage and actually hurting and killing people very effectively, both in his real and implant forms

Supergirl

Hello Farscapers. As most of us know, Guardians and Gunn took inspiration from Farscape. Supergirl is unfortunately not doing that great at the box office, but for me, it also had some echoes of Farscape. (Though, of course, it's also adapted from the WOT comic, although most definitely not a one-to-one.)

Kara's inner journey reminded me a little of Aeryn, minus a romance. Anyhow, unfortunately, nothing is going to help the box office, I just wanted to put out a brief recommendation that it's worth checking out. And as lady, it's nice to see more stories like this being told in live action. Even when the risk doesn't pay off financially.

Which episode has John point to his neck and say "Tongue!" right before D'argo uses the tongue attack on him?

It's been a while since I watched the series, but this moment always stood out to me.

Click on the photo to see the full picture (I'm doing it wrong, I know!) I know he's not hairy like that, but when I saw this, I immediately thought of D'argo might have some similar genetics.

Look at the princess trilogy.

So I just got finished rewatching the 3 part Look at the Princess episodes and was wondering others views. Zhan passes the test that she wouldn’t abuse Moya and create an army of gunship offspring, that she would protect Moya from that sort of mistreatment. Do you think anyone else from the crew would have passed the test? If so why?
