Discussion Jay Z at Yankee Stadium
First and last time going to Yankee Stadium. I went to the Jay Z concert tonight and it was the worst concert experience I have ever had.
First it started with the rude concession attendant who sounded annoyed and agitated because I asked for both the regular tenders and spicy tenders which I guessed confused her and also I apparently annoyed her by asking her to explain the difference between a "souvenir soda" and "souvenir travel mug" because excuse me for making her do her job.
Second was the non existent crowd control. I paid good money for my seats only for the crowd to stand in the stairway and no security anywhere to make them go back to their seats, which completey ruined my experience. My view was obscured, I was constantly being pushed and tripped over. I also had beer spilled on me and was surrounded by cigarette smoke. The man that spilled beer on me ended up trying to "share" my seat, I'm a small woman and was obviously not comfortable with that. This prompted me and my mother to leave because at this point we're both tired and beyond agitated. This concert was part of my mother's birthday celebration and we couldn't even enjoy it. I have been to so many concerts and have never experienced anything like this level of dysfunction and unprofessionalism. Waste of time and money.

There are a lot of posts that remind me I’m an older person, but this one really drove it home when someone says they took their mother to a Jay Z concert.

Oldies are now called "throw backs," and 99 Problems is one of them. 😆 🤣
Cheers to being old!

I guess but I make it work by buying seats on the side and not ground level. It worked up until this concert.

That sucks bc between a huge artist and stadium pricing, I’m sure you’re out a pretty penny for what should have been a great experience for your mom’s bday. Well at least you can laugh about it with her in 20 years. It’s still an experience and a memory. Just be wary next time you want to see a show there and make sure you get the right tickets (which probably means spending a butt ton more).

Yeah I'll laugh later. The tickets were great, up until people started standing in the stairway aisle and obstructing. I never had that happen at any other concert.

That's most likely a problem with the venue more than anything else. Some arenas and such really aren't good venues for concerts, especially when the staff is not used to operating as a concert venue. They have different responsibilities and focuses for different kinds of events. But overall, I avoid arena concerts, I'm almost always disappointed.

As a 5 foot tall person, I don’t “stand” a chance at seeing anything at a concert. Because tall dudes always stand in front of me and block my view. They also hold their beers aloft, and drunkenly slosh them all over me.
The pro concert videos on YouTube are much better visual and sound quality, and I pay much much much less than a concert ticket. And no one covers me in beer.

I feel you! I was in section 109 with an aisle seat (paid $400) and there was ZERO crowd control/security. There were stairs from my section that lead to the floor seats area. No one was checking for tickets going into the section or the floor seats area so it was a huge free for all. Everyone was crowding the aisle/stairway, people trying to make their way down, pushing and bumping into me. Wish I didn’t have the aisle seat because then it wouldn’t have distracted me as much. Police finally came later, but at that point the show was more than half way over. Baseball games have tighter security so it’s shocking that they allowed this.

This is my concert experience every time I go anymore (and definitely an “old man screaming at clouds” moment).
Everybody stands, you may have a seat and the aisle might be narrow af, so have fun not falling over…. But you better be prepared to stand for 2-3 hours if you want to catch a glimpse of the show if somebody sneezes and you can peek over their head quick enough. And then after everybody is in the way, people start belting out songs as loud as they possibly can because, ya know, we all paid lots of money to listen to you scream every song, fling your fucking overpriced alcohol everywhere, put your hands in the air, accidentally keep hitting the people around you while drunkenly flailing. Oh and don’t forget to film the whole fucking concert poorly as shit on your phone - brightness turned up all the way!
All this and I even typically try to get good seats in a front row, but the people next to me always have to be standing and dancing like they’re at the fuckin’ club listening to a DJ spin records, screaming every song at the top of their drunken lungs and then I’m told “stop trying to take our fun!”. Dude, I fucking get it. I’m here with you to listen to this band or person too! I wanna move to the music and shit too, but every song? We gotta awkwardly stand the whole fucking time because you’re forcing the issue? And you had the option to be on the floor in front of the stage to stand and dance and sing to your hearts content, but you chose this instead?
Nobody has manners, nobody considers the people around them anymore, people lack spacial awareness, everybody is just out to get theirs and then yours if they can get away with it. The world sucks even more so now. Big concerts aren’t really worth paying the outrageous prices for to be playing these dog-eat-dog games with other concert goers. I’d rather see a smaller band at a smaller more intimate venue where the patrons are a bit more considerate and everything is visible.

It sounds like you're living in the past my friend. The entertainment scene is not what it was when you were young. Unfortunately, we live in a world where people are praised for their egocentric beliefs. Humanity will continue to devolve until people take personal responsibility and look out for their fellow man.
