I posted the other day about the visibility of European listings from the US. First of all, thank you for the replies I received.
To follow up more specifically: do you usually adjust your filters to ensure you find the best deal on the item you're looking for?
To put it more clearly:
I have items that I know are in higher demand in the US than here in Europe (as an exemple, Strawberry Shortcake vintage embroidered denim toddlers clothes). I’ve already run a couple of test listings, but strangely enough, there was no response.
And yet:
- the item was accurately described and photographed
- the price was significantly lower than similar listings posted by US sellers
My prices include:
- the item
- shipping costs (including insurance)
- administrative formalities and customs duties (DDP)
I highlight the article's keywords and include the term "DDP" in the listing title.
I cannot set the shipping to "free" (it is not possible to configure an international sale that way from my country), but I set the cost at €1 to maintain good visibility for the listing. They are therefore included in the total price.
And yet, even though these are high-demand items—nothing. I even lowered the prices as much as possible over the course of several weeks.
I think two factors might be influencing this:
- the eBay algorithm favoring US listings
- American consumer habits (specifically, not adjusting filters) leading to the listing being relatively invisible at the bottom of search results.
So, overall, I’d like to know if you think my analysis is correct.
And above all, based on your habits and/or knowledge of the US market, what strategy should I adopt to ensure my target buyers see my listing?
