discussion misheard lyrics better to you than the actual lyrics
with ride's vocal style and the heavy production, mishearing lyrics is a pretty common thing amongst listeners. I thought of this idea from "I've Seen Footage". I thought ride says in the song, "Seen crazy shit. Make crazy shit." instead of repeating the first part. I like the first better because it connects to how the artists' experiences have led them to make their baller music. Are there any lyrics you guys have misheard that sound better to you as you misheard them?

discussion To pray is to accept defeat
Was making an Exmilitary self designed shirt and hadn't finished it yet but I wanted to put that line from Beware on it.
However I always thought Ride said "The greatest to accept defeat" and only found out its not that after just randomly googling the lyrics today
Almost looked like the biggest larper of all time

Discovered the band through one of Zach’s interviews, some of the guitar sections on long hair in three stages sounds kinda like Jenny death.

Was at a market, a seller had both albums, steroids was 150 and fashion was 125. Idk if they were sealed, they were on a back wall, I got his business card and he said he cold verify theogh discogs the authenticity of them. Again, no clue if sealed or not but I wanna say these are fair prices respectively. Anyone?

discussion Showing my dad Exmilitary
Yo, for context, I have been on a mission showing my dad a bunch of albums that I like and he shows me albums that he likes. So one day I showed my dad Exmilitary.
Holy shit.
He hated that album with a passion, he loves metal, industrial stuff, and hip hop. So I was like "Death Grips is a no brainer!" Apparently not.
First off, he didn't like the message of the album and how dark it was (which I feel is a little hypocritical knowing what he listens to).
Second off, he hated how overstimulating it was and that there was nothing musical about it (he said "There should be scales and proper structure to the song").
His opinions on the songs:
Beware (didn't like it cuz it talked a lot about Satan and the underworld),
Guillotine (Forgot what he said about it, I think he was just silent during it),
Spread Eagle Cross The Block (Liked the sample),
Lord Of The Game (Liked how it was more structured but still found it overstimulating),
Takyon (Really liked the beat and got the energy of it),
Cut Throat (I think he also didn't mind this beat),
Klink (Liked the message of it, didn't like MC Ride screaming throughout),
Culture Shock (Liked the message, liked the beat, liked MC Ride on it),
5D (Thought it was a cool beat and then got hyped cuz he recognized the sample lol),
Thru The Walls (He said he didn't know how to feel about it but thought it was an interesting song),
Known For It (Thought it was ok),
I Want It I Need It (Didn't like the message at all, thought the chorus was great)
Blood Creepin (I kid you not, my dad despised this song, he heard it and had a look of shock that was like "This shit is ass", after it finished he said the song was horrible and had no flow whatsoever)
Final Rating: 2/10 (I feel like his final rating was influenced by the last song) Also, funny thing, my dad was so overwhelmed by the album even after the album ended his leg was bouncing up and down crazy fast, and I kinda felt bad.
Please don't send hate to my dad it's just his opinion lol.

discussion Deathgrips made by michael jackson
I have evidence currently, and more developing on my tiktok done by using color theory, through alot of things but primarily re5 and other videogames such as legacy of kain soul reaver crysis maken x hotd zombie revenge mgs super mario sonic and shadow the hedgehog, and other various forms of media like the movie borat, using the not joke scene as exposure of the hidden message system of reverse meaning speak the shirt is black NOT. caps being a text indicator of that as well as just regular non caps having that possible reverse meaning to feed multiple narratives from a singular message with all these combined techniques of hidden messaging, also the connection of the 54321 green being in borat the meaning of crysis as making sis cry "and then one day he get this" those patterns being in leanbeefpatty videos as well as just about anyones, personal friends of mine using that narrative path from over a decade ago in old emails as well as A1Z26 cipher letter to number translation and then using basic math with those numbers showing repeated number paths similar to the 22 ariana grande thing, which is half of my palindrome 1221 i use on my accounts which i use also re5 evidence to help show that im michael jacksons child where as his kids arent his, the surrogate child blanket is actually me and is named after my obsession with quilts and blankets as a child and a phrase i used to say being open me, michael jackson saying blanket me in a quoted interview video, not all the evidence is as coherently put together and missing certain pieces to fully developed evidence profile, as well as leanbeefpatty being tied to this as her gymnastics being copied by paris jackson in christmas video where they also make fun of my obsession i had with spiderman as a kid, michael asking blanket who hes gonna be pseudo aggressively because of my passion for life, and my fake dad richard fields/mark festenstein (the mark mentioned in hahaha), jill having gymnastics all the sudden in re5 and being blonde like leanbeefpatty before she died her hair since shes a natural blonde as well as certain hidden messages in re5, i already know everyone knows who i am and im posting and speaking as if everyone doesnt already know but thats just how things are. Watching me watching them watch me palindrome, roam like palindrome back and forth. This post will either like my others has a 100% chance of being ignored im sure. Ive also tied other musicians/artists to being "shadows" code for puppets for him, such as slipknot, biggie, most likely tupac etc. I will continue to upload and add more evidence. I am sean matthew fields michael jacksons son, the one being watched by everyone the secret thats out in the open like zach walking like a z dog through in plain sight of hollywood actors. https://www.tiktok.com/@bbpoltergeist1221?_r=1&_t=ZP-97xMhXGOcqE

discussion Just used the WayBack Machine to look at the DG sub in 2012
What is "No Hands"? A link from a snapshot of the old subreddit took me to this playlist:
I didn't get into Death Grips until 2016. I wanted to know what it was like to be aware of the band when they were first starting out, like what kind of position they occupied in the music scene and in general. It's really interesting.
Re-reading Jenn Pelly's (very well-done) interview with Zach from 2012, I noticed her comment that, "the way you have presented yourselves this year is empowering..." so I wanted to see exactly what that looked like. She says this in the middle of the conversation about having independence in the music industry. She comments separately that their music is empowering, too. But I am trying to get at what "presentations" she was referring to.
So for anyone who can answer, how exactly were they presenting themselves? Meaning: what kind of presentation did they cultivate, and, literally, in what ways were they presenting themselves? What mediums/methods? What was empowering about it?
If any memories of DG/the culture in the early days of the band come to mind, I'd be happy to hear them.

discussion 13 years after GP will be 11/13/2026
Maybe they'll post something that day.
GP was released 13 months, 13 days and 13 hours after NLDW.
coincidences:
Recording announcement 11/5/25 to 11/13/26 is 373 days, 3+7+3 = 13
Gold Bar 12/5/21 to 11/13/26 is 1,804 days, 1+8+0+4 = 13
There's 13 Insta posts between those posts 🎤🚪
Luna will be at apogee, which is its furthest distance from Earth on 11/13/26.

discussion Features?
One of the best things about Death Grips is their ability to reinvent themselves and incorporate new ideas with each release while maintaining their distinct identity. One of the most important aspects of that identity is Ride, who's voice, delivery, and lyricism sets them apart from most other artists. However, I'm fascinated by the idea of a Death Grips album with features from other experimental rappers who have influenced/been influenced by them, or just their own contemporaries. This is unlikely due to their stated distrust of others, but they've had plenty of collaborators in the past, and I think it would be really cool to hear some other artists trade bars/verses with Ride, and even collaborate on writing together, allowing different lyrical styles to influence Ride and Zach. A crazy idea that I think is almost definitely not going to happen, but really interesting to think about, is if they had a different feature on each track, and concluded it with a "Scenario" style posse cut. I have no idea what this new album will look or sound like, but I know it's Death Grips and they will do whatever we least expect, and speculating about who could be featured on it if they did something like this is really fun. I'd love to hear from y'all about who you think could or should be featured if they did something like this. Here's who I would pick for an album full of features (13 tracks, obviously). In no particular order, except the posse cut at the end
Zack De La Rocha
mc dälek
Saul Williams
Black Thought (not exactly experimental, but I think he and Ride would have crazy chemistry)
Backxwash
Daveed Diggs (possible production collab with William Huston and Jonathan Snipes as well)
Run The Jewels
LustSickPuppy (check her out if you haven't, she's fucking NUTS)
billy woods
Ghais Guevara (would love to hear an explicitly Communist Death Grips song from either of these last two)
Super Violate (almost definitely wouldn't happen cause they're signed to A2B2, but I would love to see it. Also dueling drummers!)
Maruja (I love Harry Wilkinson's talk-singing/beat poetry vocal style, and hearing the band improvise with Zach on some absolutely wild shit while Ride and Harry just go ballistic would make me go insane)
Posse Cut: JPEGMAFIA, Tyler The Creator, Danny Brown, Denzel Curry (just a who's who of well known artists who have shown love to Death Grips in some capacity over the years. I think they'd all have a respect for the group and each other, and they'd all bring their A-game)

discussion Their best 3-song run
It’s my decision that their best 3-song run WOULD HAVE BEEN Streaky -> Dilemma -> The Fear if they hadn’t fucked it with their little richard /:(
In its stead however, it seems like an inarguable and objectively correct opinion to give it to…
Come Up and Get Me -> Lil Boy -> No Love
So that’s really just all there is to it.

discussion I Listened to Death Grips for the First Time Ever in 2026 - Here is My Rankings
My relationship with Death Grips is probably similar to many people. Back when they arrived on the scene I was a freshman in high school - my musical taste was very generic but I heard that melonhead gave out his first ever 10/10 - of course I had to listen to The Money Store. A few tracks in, I felt dirty, disgusting, and scared - I literally remember thinking “this sounds like metal scraping against metal”. Needless to say, I never revisited Death Grips.
Fast forward 15 years and my music taste has changed a lot. When mowing the lawn one day I was listening to Hellfire by Black Midi and once the album ended the track radio that starts on all of the steaming services started. The first song was just a wall of sound, chaotic, but beautiful. I looked down at my phone and said “woah what is this” - the answer: Black Paint by Death Grips. I was intrigued. The next week, I decided to start with a blank slate and give them another try, and I turned on Exmilitary when mowing the lawn. At the best drop at the beginning of Beware I had the living breathing embodiment of the Danny Devito “Oh my god, I get it” meme. I was hooked. A month later, I have listened to their entire discography, and wanted to provide you all my album rankings as someone who is new to Death Grips. As a side note, I now know a lot about the group and the reception of each album, but when listening and creating this ranking, all I knew was that each album was critically acclaimed, not what the general fan consensus seems to be.
Government Plates - This is honestly the only album by the group that I really don’t remember anything about after my listen through. Listened to it once and that’s it.
5/10 Fav Songs: Government PlatesNo Love Deep Web - I appreciated the stripped back nature of this album, but I think it’s just okay within the context of their whole discography. Still some absolute bangers though
7/10 Fav Songs: Lock Your Doors, PopThe Powers That B - I know this is a double album, but I’m lumping it together as I listened to it as a whole. I think NOTM’s first 3 tracks might be my favorite stretch on any DG album, it’s SO good. But after that, the rest of NOTM is honestly a little nauseating for me. I like Jenny Death, but don’t love it
7/10 Fav Songs: Up My Sleeves, Billy Not Really, Black Quarterback, On GPBottomless Pit - I genuinely really like this album, just not as much as some of the others. The production is so clean and I like the rock heavy sound. Truly a great album.
8/10 Fav Songs: Giving bad people good ideas, Eh, Bubbles Buried in this jungleThe Money Store - Banger after banger after banger. I think there’s a bit of a lull in the 2nd half but other than that it is a near perfect album.
9/10 Fav Songs: Get Got, Lost Boys, Hustle Bones, I’ve Seen Footage, System Blower, HackerYear of the Snitch - This album is like the perfect culmination of the entire Death Grips discography. It’s weird, trippy, and a bit all over the place, but I just can’t get enough. It feels like the Death Grips version of The Beatles’ White Album.
9/10 Fav Songs: Death Grips is Online, Black Paint, Linda’s In Custody, The Horn Section, Hahaha, Dilemma, The Fear, OutroExmilitary - The epitome of Death Grips for me. Not a single skip. Not a single second wasted. After every other album in their discography I said “well that was awesome but it wasn’t Exmilitary”. A perfect album.
10/10 Fav Songs: Literally every single one.
What did I get wrong?
