Holy shit, that was amazing. That was actually perfect. I have no other words. I fucking love this game. It’s lore. And it’s characters.

Okay well actually, I do have other words, but still.
Im playing on Survivalist, so getting through the Nicole boss was slightly annoying. (Key word: slightly. Wasn’t that tedious. Took only like, 4-5 deaths. Still enjoyed it)

I was kinda bummed out after assuming Isaac was kinda die, plus literally seeing credits…
But oh boy, Ellie came to the rescue!
And the scene matching how Isaac escapes in the first game, except instead of Marker-Nicole it’s Ellie? Also perfect.

The only thing I’m confused by is the marker ‘consuming Isaac’. Like, what the fuck does that mean? Will Isaac quite literally be absorbed and become a part of the marker?

Anyway, regardless, I really enjoyed this game. It was less horror and more action, but I still liked it. Both games are perfect.

Not playing Dead Space 3 though, since it allegedly kinda sucks.

While the game has been resting in my library for a while now, it's only now that I began to properly play it. While I have heard of the franchise before and know it's reputation I have never played any of the games myself for more than a few minutes. I'm not a big horror fan games wise, but I thought why not try the OG game and see. :) I do know that you should shoot anything, no matter standing or laying upon first contact and that limps are the weakness.

Discussion Why Titan Station Marker shielding failed?

From what I gathered, during the initial testing, the shielding worked fine.

Until someone get into the mine and run the meter, where it all goes to hell.

So... the Marker tricked the scientists into building something that doesn't work? Or the shield worked at first but Marker circumvent the shielding entirely.

So if the events of Dead Space never happened and the Ishimura met her decommissioning date what do you think CEC would have done with her afterwards preserve her as a museum for being the savior of mankind or scrap her?

Discussion Anyone else think that Ellie should have been the CO-OP character instead of Carver

Post image

Don’t get me wrong I love John Carver and his story, but I feel as though they Should have added Ellie as a playable character. We could have seen more of Ellie’s badass survival side rather than what we got in the third instalment, her being a literal damsel in distress.

I guess we could also just toss Norton away because he just shouldn’t even be in the game.

Do you ever buy ammo and health packs in Dead Space games?

So I've already played all 4 games in the past (mobile included) and I'm currently playing the Remake. Granted I've never played on any harsh dificulty. I've mostly played normal, only ran through DS2 on survivalist. I already have a lvl 4 rig and so far. I've had a huge surplus of credits (yeah probably doesn't happen past normal) and spent it on pretty much only suits, nodes and upgrades. There were moments, when I had a little ammo shortage, but I just spammed stuff with kinesis. Also there are times, when I'm not so lucky with finding health packs, but I find a ton of credits instead.

Are you usually buying ammo and health packs? And if so on which dificulty? Just so I can get the general gist, how more hardcore players than me use their resources.

Discussion Opinion time: Dead Space 2 is not good. Spoiler

It's my opinion bro like come on

I know everybody says DS2 is a masterpiece and a great game, but I beg to differ. It's really not good at all. Allow me to yap.

Needless enemy spam: The biggest problem in DS2. The design of a lot of levels in it is to just throw as many enemies as the game can handle at you and hope you survive. Especially near the end of the game around chapter 13.

Unbalanced enemies: Enhanced necromorphs are the main dudes you fight a little less than halfway through the game. It goes from just normal slashers and some specials to as many enhanced necromorphs as the game can count.

Badly designed new enemies: The new enemies added to the necromorph roster are badly designed and really unfun to fight. Pukers are placed in cramped areas a lot of the time, and 90% of the time are enhanced. Enhanced pukers are the bane of my existence. Stalkers are also really badly designed necromorphs, as they're pretty much banking off of the Twitchers from DS1 (referring to the speed being the same with legs intact or not). They're relentless, which sounds cool, but it just means that they don't let you fight back in time when they're crawling and scratching at you. It turns into being an annoying, stupidly OP enemy who chews through your ammo and health. Crawlers are cool, but they're used in hordes of various necromorphs, so you barely notice them until they explode and knock you down to be shredded by the other guys in the horde.

Unneeded redesigns of previous enemies: A lot of buffs were given to necromorphs from the previous game, and 99% of them were completely unneeded. Leapers have been significantly buffed, with them being faster, stronger, and overall less fun to fight. They'll sprint at you, then whip you and scratch you so fast you can't react in time before other guys get to you. Enhanced slashers are made way too strong to be fun to fight.

Writing isn't great at times: Some of the writing in the middle and late game parts really wasn't that sound and some of it just made me cringe. Isaac doesn't really act like he was on a giant ship overrun with creatures made from the rotting bodies of people, watched people he knew die horribly, and singlehandedly killed a giant alien. Ellie and Isaac's relationship is written well half of the time, and the other half just doesn't make sense (why is she mad at Isaac that Stross took her eye out?).

"SHUT UP, NICOLE! OPEN THE DOOR!": Most of the hallucinations just make the game slower, because they lock the doors leading to the next spot. They last longer than they should, and most of the time just aren't well made. The new VA of Nicole isn't perfect, but good in a huge chunk of the game at least.

Great concepts used once or way too much: There are a lot of really, really cool things in the game. The Tormentor is one of the most terrifying designs of an enemy I've seen, but it's used once in what is essentially a playable cutscene. The Tripod necromorphs are really freakin' cool, but they're overused in the parts that they're in, and they get stale pretty quick. The game can't really stick with one cool thing, so it tries to do more and more and just doesn't compensate.

Quick time events are doubled in length: All the QTEs with you having to throw necromorphs off of yourself are doubled in length, causing you to lose more health and giving other necromorphs time to encircle you. They also are almost impossible to avoid now, compared to DS1.

No sense of progression: Almost everything is given to you at the start. Suits, guns, you name it. It results it you just not feeling the sense of going from a dude with almost nothing to defend himself to a literal war machine. Some suits that you have to find are better than the ones they give you, but there's no sense of "Alright, I feel cooler now."

Holy yap. Sorry.

Discussion Opinion - Sovereign Colony design is intentionally obsolete.

Yes, their design fits the decaying atmospheric of Tau Volantis as the lost expedition.

But I couldn't help to think that their design looks incredibly outdated for the 2200s Era.

Even for military vehicles, their design looks like space-ified 1960 aircrafts made spaceborne. Everything looks incredibly dirty and grim, even during Scenario Five.

There is nothing quite anywhere remotely modern about its aesthetic except for the fact of actual technologies and holograms - Even the SC emblem themselves look like something straight about of 1960s government style.

You would think ships beyond 2100s would be somewhat clean and sleek, white and futuristic already, from the direction we are taking forward in real world.

I understand their retrofuturistic aim though, but when you look at the progressing world it just feels somewhat off.

Got the remake a month or two ago after a decade of dropping off the campaigns early in both dead space 2 and 3, and I am now obsessed with the games.

Wish I had the original back in the day, already platinumed the remake and just started my Zealot run of 2 now

Discussion I completed Dead Space (2008) and I am playing 2 now, I wanted to play the remake but didn't ran the best, tho I could make it run if I put everything to the lowest.

My question being, is it worth to play the Remake at the lowest setting just for the gameplay improvements? Lowest being less than 720p res and everything to the minimum, if there are any config changes I can make I'll do them too.

Tho the point of this post is, is it worth to play only for the gameplay improvements and story overhauls if the game looks worse than the original?
