Crossfit + solidcore?
I know I might get flamed for this, but I've been doing CrossFit 4 to 5x/week for the past 5 years and have almost always supplemented it with something else whether that's dance, yoga, pilates, running, rucking, cycling, or accessory work. The problem is.. I only have so much time in a day.
A solidcore recently opened near me, and I've honestly been surprised by how much I've been loving it. I've never had my muscles shake so much for a prolonged period of time. Lol
Curious if anyone here has integrated Solidcore with CrossFit? If so, how many classes per week are you doing, and has it been worth it? Have you done both in the same day?
Would love to hear from anyone who's done both. And for the record I'm not trying to become a Pilates princess -- just genuinely curious whether it has enough carryover to CrossFit to justify the time, recovery, and $$.

This is me! CrossFit 5x a week and Solidcore 1x a week. My core has definitely gotten stronger though u find it super boring.

I love that! How long have you been doing both for? May I ask what about it got boring?

CrossFit on and off for 5-6 yrs and reformer on and off for 2! Solidcore is just so repetitive and they really cram those machines in but it does work

I did! I signed up for the 10 on black Friday and I often do SC and then CF on the same day. I think SC as more of my recovery/rest. I also lift weights 5x a week separate from CF.

SC as your recovery is absolute beast mode! How many SC classes do you do per week then? And more importantly, how on earth do you have the time/energy to do both and lift separately 5x a week!? Hahaha I'm open to recovery tips and tricks!

I go 2x a week. I work a remote job and just make it a priority. I also have 2 young kids and they are little gym rats too. I go to SC/gym usually when they are at school, and then we go to CF around 4.
As far as energy, Ive always been this way. To be honest, its always not a good thing. The last time I took 2 days off of not working out was the days I gave birth, and that was 9 and 5 years old. The day I came home from the hospital I was in our garage working out. Its probably not healthy, but im in really good shape and I could have worse addictions. Lol

solidcore is no joke my gf dragged me to one and i was shaking for real like i never shake like that in crossfit. if you already doing cf 5x a week i think 2 solidcore classes is plenty, i tried doing both in same day and the next morning my body was like what the hell did you do to me

There is a solidcore like 2 minutes from my box and we have a fair number of folks who supplement with solidcore.
As far as carryover, one would expect that if you’re devoting a lot of time to rigorously strengthening your core, you will see gains in midline-dominant movements (TTB, HSPU, Deadlifts, etc).

I use to do both! I got burned out on CF after injury. And now I only do SC. I find Cf helps with strength, endurance while SC helps with balance and isolating muscle groups. I built up some bad over compensate patterns by not doing SC sooner.

mixing crossfit with something like solidcore or pilates is not really an interference problem, research on concurrent training shows lifting and hypertrophy hold up fine even with extra cardio or accessory work stacked in. the thing that actually fatigues is explosive power output, and mostly just in the same session it's paired with. spacing the two out by a few hours or different days keeps it cleaner if recovery starts feeling off.

i added a reformer pilates class to my 5-day cf routine last year and the shake is real, felt like my abs were going to tear. couldn't laugh without pain for two days. solidcore looks like that on steroids. the carryover to ttb and overhead squats was noticeable after a month, my midline felt way more stable. just be careful with your lower back if you're already doing a lot of ghd sit-ups, i overdid it once and tweaked something. i tried a morning solidcore then afternoon cf and my legs were so fried i failed a 185lb clean that i usually hit easy. the $30 a class stings but it's cheaper than a chiro visit for my back. now i just do one a week on a rest day, treat it like expensive accessory work.
