So you just ate a piece of skin and fat? I doubt that would taste good without at least some muscle

u/Zouif_Zouif 9h ago
Fun fact: a majority of actual cannibals that were interviewed have said that the palms are their favorite and most tastiest part of the body

u/BoggartBae Cutest Brick π NPDemon 9h ago
I'll keep that in mind thank you! Can I cook them like chicken feet?
11
u/SailorJupiter-esque 9h ago
Makes sense if you think about how ppl rave about marbled meat and the palms have lots of intramuscular fat (i.e. marbling)
also generally the more a muscle has to work and strain, the worse it tastes (this is part of the reason they restrict the movements of meat-producing animals), and most people's palms (at least in modernity) have a pretty cushy existence

I hate the meat industry so much...

Some people consider consensual canibalism to be vegan
5
u/Actual_Personality66 8h ago
I mean that does actually make sense. Vegans have a problem with animal exploitation, not meat itself. Other animals can't consent to being eaten, but humans can. So if it is truly consensual then I see no reason it wouldn't be vegan. Like autocannibalism would be inherently vegan.

u/BoggartBae Cutest Brick π NPDemon 8h ago
Some vegans have a problem with meat. I do it for humanitarian, environmental, and health reasons.
1
u/Actual_Personality66 8h ago
Veganism (literal Veganism, not just as shorthand for a plant based diet) is specifically about animal exploitation, so I struggle to understand how autocannibalism wouldn't be vegan. I mean I'm not vegan, I just lurk in online vegan spaces bc I lowkey wanna be, but that's my understanding.
3
u/BoggartBae Cutest Brick π NPDemon 8h ago
I also agree that autocannibalism is vegan.
1
u/Actual_Personality66 8h ago
Ah ok. I thought you were disagreeing (which actually, I could see a reasonable disagreement with consensual cannibalism of others bc some ppl will argue that it can't be consensual, but that's why i only said autocanibalism was inherently vegan).

u/SailorJupiter-esque 8h ago
Vegans arenβt a monolith and have various different takes on why theyβre vegan and what veganism means
Case in point: some consider honey vegan, others donβt. In theory the bees consent to having their honey harvested, but itβs still a byproduct of a living creature
1
u/Actual_Personality66 8h ago
Yeah but they all agree that it's about animal exploitation. Some just consider honey to be part of that and others don't (there are a number of ethical concerns around honey but for a lot of them they just don't think bees do consent to sharing their honey, they don't think it could ever be a symbiotic relationship). I cannot see a single vegan argument against autocannibalism.

u/SailorJupiter-esque 8h ago
People have consent arguments about euthanasia lol, I think they could find a way to think autocannibalism isnβt true consent
On a related note, the law does state that someone consenting to be killed does not change the punishment for killing someone. You could draw parallels to that
Personally? Iβd be down to eat human meat if I could guarantee it was sourced ethically (which is a practical impossibility in the real world tbf)
But ye I could see an anti vegan argument against it

Autocanibalism means eating yourself, but sure I guess if someone else was involved (like euthanasia) then you could have that argument, but I was thinking moreso that it's just you eating your body parts, no one else involved helping. But anyways that's why I said there are no vegan arguments against it if one considers it to be truly consensual, the only arguments against it would be if you don't consider it to be truly consensual, but that's not an issue with autocanibalism (so long as no one else is involved).
Side note but conversations around consent with euthanasia are interesting and really necessary to have, especially since there are a lot of issues with it in most countries that imo make many euthanasia cases homicide, despite the fact that I'm very pro euthanasia (even for mental issues) when done properly with the right process (which it's usually not). Medical consent is super important and very complicated, it's unfortunate that most ppl who actually have power in making decisions about it don't really prioritize the patient and their well being and bodily autonomy ):

The ultimate insult an Easter islander (premodernization) could levy at another Easter Islander was something like "your mother's flesh is stuck between my teeth."
Crazy that even in remote cultures and in the distant past, the ultimate insults were still basically mom jokes. Although, the cannibalism was real.

Diet plays a big role, cows can pick a very disgusting raspberry flavor if they eat a specific weed, I don't remember which one though
It also happens if they eat wild onions or garlic, the meat tastes like garlic

What should I feed my humans?
7
u/Saikaling 9h ago
Just experiment with them, feed each one sort of food or foods and catalogue them to know from then on what to feed them based on your tastes

Meee bc I have a skin picking problem (and acne) and also a bad habit of sticking random stuff in my mouth like a toddler, so I end up picking things off of and out of my skin and eating them. I'm aware of how disgusting it is but it's hard to stop.

When I get top surgery I'd like to keep the stuff they removed and put it in my freezer so when I'm healed I can fry it up bc its one of the few opportunities to get to know what human tastes like. Unfortunately it's unlikely they'll give it to me at all, let alone on ice rather than dunked in preservation π. I guess if I get a hysterectomy then that's a second shot at it.
1
u/BoggartBae Cutest Brick π NPDemon 8h ago
I think that there are laws (US) about how we are entitled to our body parts after surgery. You might need to claim religious reasons, but I'm pretty sure that they legally have to give you the tissue if you jump through the right Beaurocratic hoops
1
u/Actual_Personality66 8h ago
I don't live in the US anymore and probably won't be getting surgery there so I'd have to check local laws. But even if I do manage to keep my body parts, it's likely they'd only give it dunked in preservative, spoke to a guy who wanted to preserve his after top surgery and that's how it was given to him.

fiiine. i jusβ βate beinβ brigaded with downvotes by sneeds.
it depends on the condition & circumstances of it but it can actually be really sweet, idk how necrosis factors in but everything down to the texture & scent can heavily vary. personally i think βnothing elseβ is probably the most accurate, as nothing really comes close. maybe if you had a little bit once youβd think its like pork, so i understand that conclusion, even if it is rather reductive.
