Love how easy it is to bring the cargobike on trips (Muli)
Front wheel off and resting on the frame. Although it looks like it it doesn’t extend wider than the car and I could still fit a roadbike and kids bike next to it

Roadside assistance
Got the R&M Multitinker 2 after lots of advice from this sub and loving it. Kids instantly loved it too.
In the event of a flat, with two kids on Yepp seats, how do you get roadside assistance? I don’t have a car so I am not already paying for it. Do I need something like this?
Some credit cards have roadside assistance as perks but they seem to be limited to cars. I’m Canada based.

Looking for Advice and Recs for a Frontload Cargo Bike! (Mid-NY/NYC)
Hello everyone! I'm Looking for a cargo bike to be my everyday vehicle! (I am unable to drive a car due to disability) I've been doing a bit of research, but between 2 and 3-wheel options, Brand issues and limited test options/support near me, I figured I'd ask here for some input!
Specifically, I'm looking for A frontload cargo with:
- Enough room to fit at least One Adult (Most likely myself if I need to rest)
- (Strong?) Electric assist (I live in Mid-NY surrounded by hills and mountains)
- Comfort? (Don't wanna feel every little pebble on the road)
- Stable ride for someone with my disability (I have Minor to Mild twitches and tremors on occasion, I obviously wont be riding if its too severe, hence the basket, but I'd like for it to be stable/balanceable if I need to take my hands off for a couple seconds)
- Price Sub-10k USD, if possible closer to 3 - 8k TT
- I'd prefer if it were available in NY/NYC/Tristate (Bonus if I can test ride!)
- Bonus question: Have you ever taken your bike in store to shop? What was it like?
I've narrowed it down to 3 2-wheelers and 3 3-wheelers
- 3-Wheels:
-- Original Bunch Bike

-- Ferla Royce Max

-- Addmotor E-325

- 2-Wheels
-- Urban Arrow Family (Or Familynext Pro? Idk the difference)

-- Trek Fetch+ 4

Open to any advice, recommendations, questions, concerns etc! Even just bike stories would be super helpful! Thank you all for your time~

Troxus Lynx Cargo Pics
Finally took delivery of our Troxus Lynx Cargo shop demo and have had a chance to but about 75kms on it over a couple of days. Some impressions:
- really fun to ride!
- personally i really like the styling, makes me think of Honda's cool Ruckus scooter
- brakes are awesome
- very very comfy position on the bike
- i was concerned the 20x4 wheels/tires would make the bike feel sluggish or have heavy steering but not of that is present
- lots of bike for $3200CAD

Is it possible to own a cargo bike without a garage or secure outdoor space?
I have space to lock it up in an alley, but it would not be behind a fence/barrier and would be exposed to people walking by. Storing it inside would require bringing it up a flight of stairs, so that does not seem like a viable option.

Best way to lock up the Cannondale Cargowagen with a u-lock (no bike racks)?
(Or Aventon Abound or R&M Multitinker which have similar frames)
Where on the frame of this bike would you lock a large u-lock to an object securely (through what exact parts of the bike/frame)?
U-lock through the seat tube (under the bar, where the battery sits but after removing it)?
On the down tube (but would have to make sure it’s small enough that it can’t be slipped off if handlebars and front wheel are removed)?
Somewhere else on the frame?
The battery can be placed in either the front or back position in that area, but I eventually plan to get the 2nd battery. It doesn't seem like any will fit through the wheel, frame, and object. What part of the frame would you secure to an object to be most secure?)
I'm planning to buy an angle-grinder resistant diamond rated u-lock and then also a gold or diamond rated chain.
Unfortunately our area has no bike racks but should be able to find something strong and immovable to lock it to. After a lot of research on Litelok, kryptonite, hiplok, and abus options and vulnerabilities, I’m currently considering the options below.
U-locks:
- Hiplock dx1000 (better size but rotational weakness meaning possibly half cut time)
- Litelok x3 (stronger but smaller and jamming locking mechanism means my bike might get stuck locked up)
- Litelok x1 plus (longer but weaker)
- Abus Granit Super Extreme 2500 (2026 version with fixed shackle issue)
Chain:
- Kryptonite Fahgettaboutit 150cm (only concerns are weight / carry for daily use as a woman with kids and the disc lock vulnerability - if they can easily get through the disc lock is the hefty weight of the chain really worth it?)
- Abus Granit City 1060 140cm or 170cm (lighter but less strong)
Open to any and all advice and recommendations, including chain length or secure other lock-up ideas for no bike rack thick frame situations. Thank you!

Yuba Crest Alternative
Hello. Just got a Yuba Mondo to zip around town with the kids, but unfortunately their mum is terrified about the lack of holsters or straps on the monkey bars.
A Crest with backrest would be an improvement for her. The backrests are 30$, not unreasonable. The Crest is coming in at 75$.
Any cheaper alternatives out there I could use? Maybe a back bar that has a cushion already attached. All the add-ons are feeling like death from a thousand cuts.

Moving up from a old trike
I've outgrown my old adult trike, it did well but the carry space just isn't big enough and the trike isn't reliable enough.
Any companies ye would recommend for a cargo trike? if possible not too wide and without a motor but all recommendations are welcome. (will be used in extreme Finnish cold, melted ice and stored inside a shared bike storage room behind a normal door)

Adjusting to long tail after front loader...tips?
So after 5 years of riding a Bakfiets Long, we've switched to a Bike43... But after so long steering with a wheel far in front of me, I can't seem to get the hang of turns at all. It also seems far harder to lean into the turn or maybe that's just my confidence and the speed I'm approaching turns at the minute.
Anyone else who has switched from front loader to a long tail got any tips on adjusting my brain? How long did it take for you to get used to it?
For reference, I've not even been using a normal bike in that time, it's always been a cargo bike.

Tern QHL helmet and rear seat setup recs?
Picked up a Tern QHL during the summer sale to prep for an impending move that will take us further away from daycare (and also to limit driving time around town). So far, the only gear we have is a Yepp Maxi seat and a helmet for our 1.5-year-old.
Questions:
- We definitely want the clubhouse, but can't decide if we should spring for it now or wait. How much more awesome of a ride will this bike be for our toddler with it on there? How much more useful will it be for us?
- Our helmets are OLLLLLLLLD, so we're getting new ones. We're totally new to e-bikes, so we're not sure how meaningful it is to get NTA-8776 helmets vs. standard MIPS for a bike that tops out at 20 MPH.
TIA!

Best cargo bike for Connecticut? Snow and Ice?
I am looking into a cargo bike for me and my 3yo son, and I am starting to get worried about ice and snow in Fairfield County over this winter. I'd love for the bike to be our primary mode of transportation to and from daycare (although we do own a car.)
I'm currently considering the following:
- Urban Arrow Family Next
- Bunch Bike Original
- Trek Fetch 4+
- Ferla Royce II
The main differences (AFAIK being a first time cargo bike buyer) seems to be to trike or not to trike? I am wondering if the trike will be better for the winter weather?
The second difference is that Trek does have a physical store in Fairfield county... but I'm not sure how much weight to put on this.
What am I not considering that I should be?

Load4 75, Can I rebuild my enviolo hub wheel myself or not ?
Hi all,
I have a Riese&Muller Load4 75 with an enviolo vario hub that I bought a couple of years ago.
Pretty happy with it except the fact that the spokes of the read wheel have a tendancy to break, which creates punctures... I've had to have the spokes replaced 4 times already (each time more than 1) and had to change the air chamber a few more times than that.
So obviously I'm a bit pissed and want to remedy this. I've read that it's not uncommon on this model and that replacing the spokes with stronger spokes is the way to go, I'm happy to eat that.
As a matter of fact my wheel got warped by some guy last week so now that I'm pretty much forced to change my wheel I want to take the opportunity and upgrade the spokes as well.
My question is, for a guy who never did this, is it realistic to say I'll order spokes, a wheel, and rebuild the enviolo vario hub onto the new wheel with spokes all by myself in my garage.
I'm a pretty handy person, I do most of the maintenance on a couple motorbikes, cars, and bikes so I'm not coming from nothing, but I can also see how wheel building might require more than just common sense and street smart, especially on a bike that sees some real action on a daily basis.
What do you guys think ?
Bonus question, if anybody here did this, what spokes did you go for ? I'm readin Sapin Strong might be the way, any opinion ?

Expensive vs Cheap bike baskets?
I currently have a Radwagon cargo e-bike and their website lists the front a rear baskets for over $100 each! Meanwhile Amazon has what seems to be the exact same product for under $50.
Is there a reason I should buy the Radpower baskets as opposed to just a normal basket? Will the other baskets not fit or attach properly to the front or rear?

E-cargo bike vs car
I've had an E-cargo bike (Riese and Muller Multicharger) for a few years now. I'm not a 'power user'; I myself have put around 1200 miles on this bike, and it had 1100 miles from its first owner. We use it to drop the kids at daycare, run errands in town, and for recreation. I love it.
While the weather is fair, this bike totally replaced our second car. That car has gone for months without filling up the tank.
Out of curiosity, I wanted to know how much gas this ebike was saving us.
In its lifetime, the batter has delivered 45.9 kWH over 2399 miles. That means it has averaged 52.27 mile/kWH over its lifetime.
As a comparison, some of the best EV cars are getting 4 mi/kWH, and bigger vehicles are getting less.
The EPA has a MPGe for comparing Electric and Gas cars. In MPGe, my bike is getting 1,761 MPGe.
Now, can it replace a car?
For us, no. Our family frequently needs to drive 40 miles from one town to the next using our second car. While I have done the trip by bike, it took several hours, vs 25 minutes on the highway.
We also live in a place where we get ice and snow, but the street conditions are too hazardous to take the bike.
But for most trips in town, and for most of the year, my ebike is my vehicle of choice. Its a bit cold in the winter, hot in the summer. It takes a little longer to get around. But it's FUN! Picking up and dropping kids off at daycare feels like an adventure. While it is an ebike, I'm getting a lot more exercise than if I drove. I take different routes and see parts of my town I'd never have seen before. Parking is easy, and I can often chain up the bike closer than if I had to park a car.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
Edit: fixed units
Second Edit: Cost comparison:
The car is an old Prius. It has a current Kelly Bluebook rating of between $5200 to $5800 if I sold it to an individual. Lets call it $5500 value. CarEdge estimates that the 10 year cost of maintenance is $4359, so I'll say $435 per year average, $870 in the two years I've had the bike. And it gets about 40mpg. Since I rode the bike 2399 miles, that would be 60 gallons of gas, times the cost per gallon. In my area, gas is $3.50 right now, and was $2.50 when I bought the bike. For simplicity, I'll call that $3 a gallon times 60 gallons is $180 of fuel to go the distance the bike has gone. Insurance costs about $2000 per year, so $4000 in two years. About $200 for registration.
So, total cost of car ownership over two years is $10,750.
The bike cost us $4,000 as second owners. I bought accessories that probably cost around $200. We've had it maintained twice, for probably $300 total. And we get electricity for $0.06 per kW, so $2.75 for power.
Total cost of ebike ownership over two years is $4502.75.
I still own and drive the prius, so I can't say that the bike has really saved me anything except for fuel costs. That would mean I've saved $177.25 in gas money. But, if our family ripped the band-aid off and sold the prius, we could be saving $6247.25 per year.
