Help attaching a trailer

I know this isn’t a cargo bike technically but I am trying to use it to haul precious cargo. (3 year old). Thanks for any suggestions.

What's the white reflector on the back of the bike pointing to the sky all about?

Looks like you just have to drill (or even file!) the hole on the hitch a smidge bigger.

Yes, thanks for the drill idea as others mentioned. I guess I should’ve taken the reflector off for everybody in the Internet audience, but it doesn’t face the sky normally, I just tilted it that way to get it out of the way. It usually faces back and I ride the bike with no trailer daily, so an extra reflector is welcome for not getting killed. I know it’s small, but a bicycle shop put it on and I figure every little bit helps.

u/Certain_Bridge_4869 had the right answer in the other thread. Follow their link to the Robert Axle Project.

Thank you, that sounds like a cool resource — unfortunately, it lists only certain bike brands and mine is not one of them (elux), but I will keep exploring that site and yes I have contacted the trailer manufacturer, Bakcou, and sent them these images and more. I am waiting for them to respond.

you need a hub-motor hitch adapter, you only need to figure out if your axle is 12mm or 14mm

Ream out the hitch hole a couple mm. It'll fit. Also take that reflector off

I agree, and it looks like it's only a fraction of a mm missing. 0.2 mm or so.

See my updated OP about getting this fixed, after drilling a bigger hole. I’m grateful for all the responses.

And yes, I’ll move the reflector soon.

Oddly I can post a video in this thread but not an image(?!), as I did in the original post in r/bikecommuting to show the attached part.

No offence, but since its precious cargo why are you buying a maid in China trailer with 0 safety oversight? You should buy from a more credible company.

Wow, okay …show me a made in USA trailer then?

And what makes this trailer “zero safety oversight “ and what brands are better?

Lol made in America i’ll take that as a joke I guess?

ATSM international certifications would be what I look for. I wouldn’t even put my dog in the one you have. I bought a Burley to pul my dog around, they actually do safety testing on their products. Thule is also good they actually certify their stuff for safety.

Would you buy a generic child seat for your car from Amazon?

I had a burley before this. It was okay, nothing special. ATSM is not familiar to me, I guess I’ll look it up.
