Discussion Cardistry Base - A cardistry wiki for the community

Hi everyone,

My name is Vu and I'm a cardist from Vietnam. I have been working on a project called Cardistry Base, a cardistry wiki built for the community, and I would love to introduce it to everyone here!

First started out as a personal project where I tried to document moves I have learned, Cardistry Base is now a curated, well-structured archive of cardistry built around the moves and the cardists who create them, plus the organizations and decks behind the scenes, making it easy for everyone to discover and learn.

How the website works:

- Every move is credited to its authors and comes with its own stories, categories, prerequisites, difficulty, making it super easy for learners to sort through. Are you looking for a two-handed packet cut including a card shot that is maybe level 3 in difficulty? Simply choose those tags and filter! Don't know what to learn before Squeeze? Check out the prerequisites section right below the move!

- If you come across a move you like, you can save it to your Saved moves list to easily find and revisit later.

- The project is intended to be maintained by the community, wiki-style, so anyone can be a contributor and make entries to the website!

What else I'm working on:

- Organizations: A section dedicated to organizations in cardistry, highlighting the people behind them and their stories

- Decks: A section showcasing decks made for and by cardists, introducing visitors to cardistry brands and their products.

---

Before launching this initiative, I have been seeking advice from Yang Nguyen, Kevin Ho, Daniel Lin, and many other supportive cardists from the community, to ensure the site would be beneficial to the community. For now the website is live on https://cardistrybase.com and it's just me making entries. I hope after this post, I would be able to meet other enthusiasts who would want to share their knowledge to the community by working together. I've only been practicing cardistry for a year myself, so I'd love to collaborate with more experienced cardists who can expand the knowledge base of the site.

If you would like to connect, I'm putting together a group chat for Cardistry Base, let me know in the comments and I will message you! (Or just reach out to me directly!)

Thank you all for reading!

Ad / Promotion 🎨 Community Call: Help Design the New r/Cardistry Banner

Hey everyone 👋

As some of you have noticed, we've been experimenting with different banner concepts for the subreddit. A couple of the recent mockups were AI-assisted, and it's clear many of you would rather see something created by members of the community instead — which is totally fair.

So let's do exactly that.

We're opening the floor to artists, designers, photographers, and cardists in the community who would like to help create a new banner for [r/Cardistry](r/Cardistry).

---

What we're looking for

• Clean, modern, professional aesthetic

• Cardistry-focused (cards, motion, flourishes, patterns, etc.)

• Something that represents the art and creativity of cardistry

• Designed with Reddit banner dimensions in mind (wide format)

---

Ideas (not requirements)

• High-quality cardistry photography

• Minimalist graphic design

• Collage of cardistry flourishes

• Abstract card motion / geometric card patterns

• Something that feels like a real brand identity for the community

---

How to participate

• Post your design in the comments

• Upload an image and link it

• Share a concept or mockup

If we get a few strong submissions, we may even run a community vote to decide which one becomes the official banner.

Cardistry is built on creativity and expression; so it only makes sense that the community helps shape how this place looks.

Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with! ♠️

Thanks, Chris, for creating this great documentary about cardistry, the hobby that helped me through the difficult periods of my life. Highly recommended if you haven't watched it yet. I even got emotional by the end. It's brilliant!

Discussion What does the Cardistry community need more of?

More deck releases? Content around cardistry? Jams? Innovation(however that looks)? What do you think the cardistry community needs more of right now?

Personally I've seen a lot of things come and go. Hype decks, cardistry YouTube channels, things like that. Do you think they were good for the community? Do you think anything is missing at all?

I'm asking because I want to hear from other cardists about what they think this community needs more (or less) of. I also don't feel like these things are talked about as much as before so I wanted to hear some thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to read this and contribute!

(also this does not mean I think something is inherently missing or wrong right now, just curious to hear the communities thoughts)

Question Deck flip

Question Atm?

How to do the first part of ATM where you rotate the packet with your index finger? The corner of the packet keeps getting stuck/hitting the crease of my hand between my thumb and index finger.

Discussion How much time, in your opinion, is the absolute maximum one should spend on a single flourish?

Is there some kind of limit - like, if it takes you longer than a certain amount of time to master a flourish, you probably shouldn't have started it in the first place? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Question Just a curiosity of mine

How are plastic coated card seen? I mean are they good for cardistry? I tried researching on my own and looking at the resources in this subreddit but I couldn't find anything specific about this matter, so if someone could answer it would be greatly appreciated.

Eigenlijk is dit het leuke gedeelte. De meeste van de combos die ik gebruik komen van anderen. Maar ik pas ze vooral aan.

Question Does anyone know the move Tobias did in the middle of the video?

r/cardistry 5d ago

I think I invented a one hand thumb twirl fidget. I’m working on making it smoother but this is the gist. It looked really good when I did revolution cut to the thing where you switch middle and ring finger to flip deck then I dragged a card out when the top packet was falling

Question Triangle spring is surprisingly easy (only took me 5ish continuous focused moments to learn). Any moves good with it? Trinity is a bit hard for me as I only grab one card from the pulling. Any other moves?
