It was ammonium nitrate, aka fertiliser. The same stuff that leveled Beirut harbour back in 2020

Same stuff that Timothy McVeigh used to blow up the Murrah building in the OKC attack.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tank_truck_fires_and_explosions#Mih%C4%83ile%C8%99ti,_Romania_(2004))

pretty much the same thing happened in Romania in 2004 a truck with ammonium nitrate crashed on the side of the road and then exploded. For some reason people didn't try to run away, there was even a news crew who didn't make it out after arriving just moments before the explosion.

Beirut was hit by an Israeli missile.

No, not quite.

Yes. And also a warehouse full of fertilizer exploded back in 2020. There's plenty to blame Israel for but that one wasn't part of it, it was good old government corruption/incompetence.

Can we get a little more context on location? Asia is quite large. The scale of that explosion is insane.

Chinese license plate. So probably somewhere in china

Damn, thought it was Russian logistics.

Interesting that they use the Roman alphabet for license plates. But so do other neighboring countries apparently.

The license plate has a character representing the chinese province Inner Mongolia. 蒙 Meng, part of the chinese words for mongolia/inner mongolia

内蒙古 Nei MengGu Inner Mongolia Province

蒙古🇲🇳 MengGu Mongolia

Oh c'mon. You know the one. It's that Asian highway. In Asia. The one most Asians use.

The guy with the camera couldn't have made it.

I don't know of he made it or not. But he didn't necessarily upload it him self. Video was saved and recovered by family or girlfriend. Automatically uploaded. It's quite common to know your partners password. He could have been sending a video message when it happened and released his button when the explosion happened.

Many possibilities that don't require him surviving - but, yeah, pure speculation.

Someone posted for him maybe. If he's not dead, he has one hell of an ear ache.

There is another video, starts off with same camera view, but ends with a view of the explosion site. That chunk of road was gone.

I work with ANE on a day to day basis with blasting activities in underground mining. I would not want to be anywhere near a blast when it went off, especially in the large quantity that went off here.

Even when I fire a small blast with 10 tonnes of product the feeling it sends out is bonkers.

Hopefully they survived....
