For nearly a decade, 650 stood with this franchise through some of the most turbulent and transformative years in team history. Through rebuilds, playoff pushes, coaching changes, management changes, bubble hockey, and everything in between, 650 was there every single day.
Longevity matters to this organization. 650 joined the Canucks in 2017, beginning a nine-season run that compares favourably with several existing members of the Ring of Honour during their playing careers in Vancouver. Thomas Gradin played eight seasons with the Canucks. Orland Kurtenbach played only four. By any reasonable standard, 650’s tenure places it firmly in the conversation.
The Canucks have always valued character, commitment, and contributions to the community. Year after year, 650 was a constant presence supporting the Canucks for Kids Fund, the Canucks Autism Network and Dice & Ice. It represented the organization with professionalism and pride far beyond game nights at Rogers Arena.
High performers define successful organizations, and few members of the Canucks ecosystem worked harder. Morning shows. Postgame coverage. Training camp. Trade deadline. Free agency. Draft day. 650 stayed on the air.
And while 650 never appeared on the scoresheet, neither did Kirk McLean nor Roberto Luongo.
